Does FDev care about botting?

Fleet Carriers probably will make bot a huge issue.

Major RMT Russian/chinese traders of runescape and Guild Wars(I and II) that are know for botting are now on the market offering ED credits for really cheap prices and delivering with their fleet carriers - A While ago, and since they dont get any negative feedback we can assume that fdev are doing nothing to stop it.

The combat profit buff is another major thing to incentive botting, now you can sit on a Haz Res wiith a friend for a infinite amount of time and farm credits with a idle-bot turret boat, just need to load 2 tons of gold on your cargo hold and have one small healing beam.
I still don't believe that RMT will take off in ED. Unlike in Eve or EFT, once you bought your stuff you are technically set, dying is merely an annoyence than a hit on your virtual wallet (another reason player driven economy won't work in ED).
This and the fact that credits at some point become essentially useless (engineering mats is the grinding MVP) makes RMT rather useless unless one is mentally very challenged.

I can easily live without both. Supercruise assist, so what I can just hit 70% on my keyboad at 7secs. Auto dock? never used it till recently due to m&kb only as no hotas anymore. Im not bothered about SC assist especially. I wonder if theres something Im missing as I find it easier to do it manually. Autodock, once i get used to thrusters on kb, then that too is superfluous for me. But isnt the real problem people with gangs of bots rather than just the lone CMDR making their lives easier? If so, then I cant see how FD can sort it without removing stuff for the honest cmdr. Just because I dont need SC assist or Auto dock necessarily, I dont think curtailing them will help. Some people need them find them useful nowandagain.

Yeah, didn't think much about SC assist initially, but truth be told, it's a very nice QoL module to have, especially in exploration vessels.
Yeah, or for mat gathering, or doing A>B>A trading loops or multiple deliveries. While it takes a bit longer on the longer distances, it allows me to focus my attention to other things, such as FC remote management, Gal or Sys maps, checking Inara etc.

The orbit function is also pretty neat now and then even though I don't use it very often.

I don't need them, but I like to have them as an option on some of my ships. Removing them purely to combat bots would be cutting off the nose to spite the face.
I suspect way more people would be negatively impacted by the removal of these useful tools than are currently impacted by these nebulous "bots". I've got a better chance of Bigfoot stealing my lunch than I do a bot ruining my gameplay in ED.

The Dark Armada is currently being assisted by multiple faction's members including imperials federals and independents against the Communist Menace. You are more than welcome to join us in Checha and help Mysteron.

I'm no particular fan of any political faction, I like to remain as neutral as possible. However I do consider myself a freelance mercenary/bounty hunter and after reading about The Dark Armadas plight I might just bounce over there when I've wrapped up what I'm doing at the moment (y)

Ah, I see why OP didn't want to make the system, they seem to be the bad guys. I might have a look at the situation over there.

(Not that this would make botting OK).

solutions so far:

1 - open bgs only. simple fix, partial solution. would give the interested players a definitive tool to fight bottism themselves, so problem solved, and would even promote bot hunting as new gameplay and could bring along players that otherwise ignore the bgs. however, it would only stop botting for bgs, not in general.

2 - remove docking computer and super cruise assist. arms race. simple fix but temporary, would make bot creation considerably harder but not impossible, so given enough incentive bots would pilot through that.

3 - revamp gameplay to be less bot friendly, in other words make bots obsolete. arms race, but the real way. implies significant change to the game so likely hard, complex, long winded, most likely frontier would need to recruit talent. for the bgs!

4 - write a statement reminding the community that botting is forbidden and taken very seriously (optional), then do nothing about it and go on merrily ignoring the few weirdos whose epeen still prevents them from realizing that ed is not an appropriate competition platform.

make your guess, what do you think it is going to be? [ __ ] ;)
