Does FDev care about botting?

solutions so far:

1 - open bgs only. simple fix, partial solution. would give the interested players a definitive tool to fight bottism themselves, so problem solved, and would even promote bot hunting as new gameplay and could bring along players that otherwise ignore the bgs. however, it would only stop botting for bgs, not in general.

2 - remove docking computer and super cruise assist. arms race. simple fix but temporary, would make bot creation considerably harder but not impossible, so given enough incentive bots would pilot through that.

3 - revamp gameplay to be less bot friendly, in other words make bots obsolete. arms race, but the real way. implies significant change to the game so likely hard, complex, long winded, most likely frontier would need to recruit talent. for the bgs!

4 - write a statement reminding the community that botting is forbidden and taken very seriously (optional), then do nothing about it and go on merrily ignoring the few weirdos whose epeen still prevents them from realizing that ed is not an appropriate competition platform.

make your guess, what do you think it is going to be? [ __ ] ;)

1 - wont work - whoever is able to build a bot network should be more than apt to:
  • setup the bot to auto block any ship they encounter, or
  • setup a firewall to block external connection from anything except FD servers

2 - nope, it will only make botting a bit harder. only a bit
3 - yea, right :D
4 - maybe

you forgot 5 - gather facts and report the botters - that should have some effects

Ah, I see why OP didn't want to make the system, they seem to be the bad guys. I might have a look at the situation over there.

(Not that this would make botting OK).

This is the system in question. I have to repeat this again without using the name of the aggressor group (OP's group) but this table should make everything pretty much clear. The Dark Armada has been retreated by all of its systems (more than 20) by this group which is pushing certain government type factions in the galaxy and filling all spaces with their government types making the system to be claimed extremely difficult at a later time. The aggressor group claims to control some 1000 systems in galaxy and trying to grab as many as systems as possible in this way while keeping minor player groups in check with treaties. And whoever does not accept the treaty faces the same fate as The Dark Armada.

(Also thanks for willingness to help him I am replying those who are eager to assist The Dark Armada in private messages to discuss the details. My faction is Federal but I am helping him nevertheless as I hate bullies)

true that!

there might be a handy fix for that: frontier's servers could ping clients to see if they acknowledge the presence of other peers in the instance. if not, it means they're firewalling or blocking, so no bgs reward. due to the nature of the actions this should be something like notoriety, e.g.: you block, no bgs rewards for 24h. yes, convoluted but not rocket science, and a one time fix.

yes, effects conducing to solution 4. 😂

And he may very well have made the situation worse for himself now that it appears his faction are the aggressors and are trying to steamroll anyone in their path.
Meh, having been further informed I think this thread should probably be closed, if things can't be discussed openly then they should probably not be discussed at all.

Constant Civil Unrest has left this system in turmoil. The People have decided to take matters in their own hands and have scheduled free and just elections to throw off the yoke of the incompetent imperial oppressors. The Workers of Dimocorna Union have established a strong power base in support of their brethren in need.
Millions flock to the liberation initiative. It is clear that the People want independence.

The traffic report at Checha doesn't look like bot traffic, just looks like a "FEW" commanders were there doing a ton of missions or trading. Just look at type 9 heavy, OP admitted to doing neg trading there in the billions

I have been trying to avoid having to post on this thread, but its looking like that isn't an option.

We have been feeding information to FD for around 2 months now related to suspicious activity. Obviously, we can never be sure what is going on, but since we see some of the accounts that have previously been cited as likely bot accounts tracking through the systems we are concerned about, including ones from the original AEDC/AOS report. Unfortunately one member got frustrated waiting for official channels to work, but now regrets venting.

As regards the now 5 years old dispute with the Dark Armada. I do not intend to get into this any more than state that our own Code of Practice does not allow us to unseat any player-supported faction unless they have officially declared war on us. That official supporters of Aisling Duval, Arissa Lavigny-Duval, and Denton Patreus supported us in our actions, having previously attempted to broker peace, is all the defence I intent to present.

I'm becoming increasingly convinced that FDev has no intention of ever helping and that I may as well try learn to fight fire with fire, even if it does put extra load on their server.
Your own members want to learn to fight fire with fire? You mean fight bot traffic with more bot traffic? Any sanctions per say?

It's going to take another 28days to ratify - due to our rules of requiring a unanimous vote for any change of our Articles of Association, but we expect to be signing up for this https://discord.com/invite/pwz2tfxJ85 An Anti Botting Agreement.
