New player Advice from a New Player ( Non Combat )

Oh btw
Pay attention to a system's State, as that often creates special trade opportunities. Your actions will influence that state, e.g. bringing food to a famine system helps a little bit to end the famine.

One special case however is civil war. Civil war parties will often tender supply missions for (personal) weapons, and you can supply both sides. The cynical beauty here is that supplying weapons increases the demand. So the more you bring, the better the offers get, until the war is over.

Oh wow that is interesting because I have seen a few of them at war good to know!!

Who mentioned the Vulture err I mean the Viper MK4*? as a multi-purpose ship? Really amazing call there lots of slots for things I couldn’t get on the CM3 going to test it out but I think I will like it a whole lot!!

Nice to see someone not doing the roads to riches/mining startup.

I guess nowadays it really doesn't matter, you can make money with anything. I guess those "get rich quick" schemes come from a time when credits by and large were much harder to come by and by default you'd do missions for 18.000cr. In such an environment ofc such "tricks" or outstanding opportunities were extremely sought after.
A friend of mine started with the game around New Year's and also just does her own thing, without following youtube guides or using 3rd party tools, and yet she has several hundred million in the bank by now even though she doesn't even play that much (couple of hours a couple of times per week), and mostly flies a Cobra.

Ofc the most recent income change has had an extreme impact, with combat before making very little money (except for stacking Wing missions) and now it may be the best paying activity in the game. Like, now missions from a "Neutral" faction pay almost as well as "Allied" missions used to before, and bounty payout has roughly quintupled on average (low-value targets received a much bigger boost than high value ones).

Eh. Not really. The Vulture is generally perceived as strictly for combat. The Cobra's slots are 4-4-4-2-2-2, the Vulture's are 5-4-2-1-1 and a Military 5 (that fits only SCB or Reinforcement). The Vulture has more Utility slots, but most of those are also only relevant for aggressive purposes. So as long as you aren't interested in combat, the Vulture can't do anything the Cobra doesn't do better. And the Cobra has a much better jump range to boot.

Yeah I got the Vulture and Viper MK4 mixed up for small ship goes the Viper MK4 over the CM3 it just has a better Jump range plus You can Add. Scoop and Plating where as the CM3 you can’t

EDIT: also as Side Note I am seeing a lot of New Players who are looking for Starting Advice on FB or returning players not wanting to do the mining thing just to keep in mind.

The Viper IV isn't a very good allrounder either. 4-4-3-2-2-1 (+Restricted 3) is also worse than Cobra. The Range isn't really better as far as I can tell.

On the contrary, the V4 has a very specific niche: you drop the shield and build a pure hull tank (with lots of engineering), which gives you the advantage of more power for engine and weapons, but you also need to start toggling FAOff in order to get the damn thing to turn. xD It does have a certain charm, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it for beginners.

Long story short... the Cobra 3 really is really hard to beat in its versatility. You have to add quite a pile of money before you get something significantly better. And most ships will be pre-ordained for a specific purpose. The Diamondback Explorer is an excellent Exploration vessel. The Vulture is an excellent Fighter. The Type 6 is a better trader / miner. Each of these is several times as expensive as the Cobra.
The next universal step up is actually the Asp Explorer, at a stock price around 20 times that of the Cobra. And after that comes a huge gap in the price list. (Again, that used to matter more back then than it does now.)

This is interesting because in my build I only lost 4 slots the V4 I have a cargo of 40 compared to the cobra which was 44 now* you have to remember I am not engineering anything here the V4 also has haul reinforcements a scoop and a 25.4 LY jump compared to my CM4 build of 21LY

Starting to think the small and medium ships are better than the T-7 and T-9 overall in regards that the larger ships can’t go to the smaller ports and it gives the med and small ships way more flexibility in coverage and a lot less time as well.

mathing it out in the V4 I get 700k - 900k a trip with one jump but when I was in the T7 I needed at least 2 jumps depending on cargo mass and also the Larger Landing pads... just my overall view. Also the T-7 costs 17M+ the Viper MK4 is 700k I think. Lastly don’t look at the paper of the V4 it has an extra military slot not listed in the discription you can see it in the stream I am doing if you FF about an hour...

T7 is large pad only for around 240 cargo. Python is medium pad for around 230 cargo. But it is WAY more expensive. On my main account I have the Python for medium cargo, mining, etc. For my alt the T7 was so much cheaper and I wanted to try the T7 out. AspX is what I use on my Alt account for now as a Medium pad, 96 cargo.

Best small ship all arounder is the CM3, Vulture for combat, DBx for exploration and Guardian sites (if you decide to do that)

I find the CM3 and the Viper M4 a real debate the V4 has 4 lest cargo racks, but is stronger, faster and until someone with Massive experience with the game who can give both a solid run without engineering for Trading On Video so I can watch it haha then I will be impressed Lol!!!!

Remember
I am not talking about the Viper Mk3 I am talking the MK4...

I actually have not spent any time with a VM4. I had a VM3 on my main account and it was a fun combat ship. But at some point I tried the Vulture and the VM3 went away.

Use whatever is fun for you. Personally I use my CM3, AspX, and my Python as all arounders. I change modules as necessary for mining (not often), cargo, or mission running. But for combat and exploration I use dedicated builds. My VM3, and Vulture were only ever combat. My DBX for exploration. It is nice to get your name on a first mapped by or first discovered by.

For sure I didn’t mean anything by voicing an opinion I just find it interesting. I guess like most have said here it’s just something that isn’t the first choice for people. My thing is I wish I could do a Comparison Video or a guide as well as some others I have seen on YouTube I just am not as geared for a Stream like that plus not as professional you might say Lol!!

V4 is not faster than C3. Much slower it is
Actually C3 is the fastest ship running normal drives
I am hitting 304 out of the docks in the V4 no where near that in the C3 I think most I got was close to 279-285 iirc

I apologize I don’t mean to debate so hard on the issue you all know more in regards of the game than I do all I am doing is saying from flying both back to back...

Maybe you 're mixing them up? Or the C3 does not have 4A thrustersr?
C3 should do 305 non-engineered and fully laden, with boost to 435
V4 should do 293 same as above, with boost to 368
