Right, so I'm puzzled why you said that to maintain the upkeep you had to play every hour of every day?
Also, why not decommission them?

So all in I have around 3,180 hrs in game. The first account has 13 ships with 10 of them being almost fully engineered. This also has all the guardian tech SLF's etc. unlocked so I don't want to lose it. It also has faction rank almost maxed out (King, Admiral etc.)
The second account (played most often) has 12 ships again 10 off fully engineered.
This is my question-
I have recently been thinking of putting aside my initial annoyance with carrier upkeep and getting one.
What would be the most efficient way to transfer the cash from one account to another and is my limit of ships 16 in total or 16 per account?
4S, 4M, 8L?
I want to do this so that I can forget about upkeep for a while or forever (within reason) if at all possible.

one could also look that at this way:
FD had to make a decision, higher cost when buying the FC (like so far with ships) but it might be maybe then also that more easier for players to let those rot and litter systems for years, or make some kind of system that "reminds" players that their "litter" is actually eating every week some of those credit they "grinded" so and so "much" back at year 201X....
And tbh designing of my 2 carriers were a fun experience, I had to decide what modules and for what purposes I will fit in, because it will affect carriers functionality, max exploration range, goods markets/Tritium fuel storage size etc., weekly maintenance for those modules thus also felt understandable.
Having a "bank account" in a carrier that you can divert to weekly maintenance and markets, and deposit or withdraw credits from there, made whole "why maintenance?" non-issue for me pretty much as one can do 20-30 million in a 10 min passenger run at a Python, and I had already billions for years to come I assume (to fuel of carrier and maintenance).
There is no limit in ships at carrier (some joker could park 16 Sidewinter alts on "open for all carrier" and block other ships from landing).
Only a limit of 16 ships in a carrier per instance, pretty much as stations have now.
Think most common way to transfer credits between alts through carrier is to use carriers markets, and buy market goods at high price with alt that has credits, from alt that has less credits. Tritium is good trade item as one can also then keep more fuel in a carrier storage to jump carrier (and it has high price, thus more credits per ton profit for alts).
Though I recommend keeping access to carrier "friends / squadron only" while doing that kind of trade, so nobody gets there in a Cutter and empty your markets.
Meta-alloys have a nice high, stable galactic average price. Thargoid probes even better but not as easy to find.
I have one question about FC : Why are there a billion of these things even if I play in SOLO ?
They are persistent , across all modes, across all platforms.
Ot’s pretty cool. I have now given 2 CMDRs a lift on mine, me in SOLO on PS4 and them on PC/X-Bone both in SOLO.
A quetion on fleet carrier's redemption office: when one redeems at FC, what percentage of the bounty/combat voucher goes into FC's bank, or does it not give anything at all?

Simple answer? A fleet carrier is a station, it's not a ship.
And yes there are too many in the Bubble. For reasons known only to FDev, there are very few incentives/initiatives to get carriers out into the galaxy, and removal from the game after decommissioning takes far, far too long. So we have tens of thousands of carriers concentrated in a few thousand systems.

They are too big for true exploration, that's why. The range might get you across the galaxy and back, but true exploration requires more than that. Look at a circumnavigation, for example. Then, there's cost, just in general. People struggle to convince themselves of the need to spend on a Conda for exploration, how on earth do you think someone could convince themselves to pay 5 billion plus, and that's ignore modules, fuelling, and running costs.Simple answer? A fleet carrier is a station, it's not a ship.

It just isn't seen as viable to go into the black. What we really need, is a smaller, exploration specialised carrier, because right now, what we effectively have, is a large trade vessel.
Exploration before carriers was mostly linear, nebula to nebula, big circles, A to B etc. Now, carriers allow indepth exploration of certain areas for months on end, in a range of ships, to create your own bubble. So for sure you won't explore in a carrier like you do in an Anaconda or whatever, but as exploration tools they are epic. It's worth noting however that CMDR Thauma already did a complete extreme rim circumnavigation in a carrier, and yes myself and others have done Ishum's and return without refuelling.

I would still prefer to pay for something with far less features, for a fraction of the cost. I don't need all those extra functions like an L pad or those extra services. Is this FAQ still accurate with the current state of Odyssey? I suspect not since this post was last updated 23rd February, 2021, but thought I'd ask anyway.
Last I knew, there were some FC issues present at Ody launch and at least one issue released with Ody U7, which I have not heard was fixed yet.
The way they are intended to work hasn't changed with EDO AFAIK. Haven't bothered to document bugs, because they come & go

what happens if i purchase the same commodities for different price and mix them in my carriers hold ?
does the game record the buy price of each batch and show profit accordingly as i sell them ?

Just a few questions about Carriers if you please . I don't own a Carrier...yet...and since there's been no new ships in the game for a long time I'm getting a bit
...'ship starved' for want of a better word. I'm contemplating buying one but to be honest I'm wondering if after buying one I'm not going to find a long term use for it.
Anyway some questions if you please though.
1. I couldn't find an answer to this one in the above Op's post. Are there different designs of Carrier for the four main factions? eg....Alliance, Federation, Empire etc. or is there only one. ?
2. After buying one do you have any direct input in the system where it's initially placed?
Any input or advice surrounding these questions gratefully received.

2. No, it shows up in the next available slot in the system you buy it from, or a nearby system if that one is full.

It's just a big mobile station that you can jump around in, taking all your ships with you. There are no faction alignments. You can buy kits to make it look various ways, but none of those are faction related. You can name it whatever you want, and park it wherever you want (except permit-locked systems).
