Is Odyssey missing a stealth mechanic?

Yes let's introduce all the horribly unbalanced mechanics of FPS PVP games into our spaceship game.

Sniper: Dying to a camper two miles away you can't even see or possibly counter.
Stealth Rogues: Dying to an invisible guy you can't see with "balanced" one-hit kill melee ranged weapons.
As long as they use legal weapons I don’t mind, snipers should be a threat and you can counter it, you just need to know how.

How do you suppose to cut space suit out of steel like hard material? Light sabers?

I support the melee weapons more as weapons against possible local aggressive animals (which might sometime come into ED). Also as somewhat utility tool.
Now, what about cutting a space suit, i guess, better is thrusting into it. Historically the daggers was just that weapons, which to thrust. As an example - Pesh-kabz, which were intended to use against the chain mail (mail armor) and some other armors. How strong the space suit of the future will be against the dagger of the future, I don't know yet.

Shield is strong enough to reflect bullets. I guess you cannot hit harder then bullet. And against animals simple laser should be effective. It is bad against hull because of their special design to disperse beams. I think animals do not have such.

Hide, run, smoke/fire distraction... I do hope there is a glint feature - the CW no-glint glitch made snipers temporarily way over powered.

I think thats it. It needs a stealth mechanic to be complete.

These really took shape with the thief games, and thinking about recent action games i've played, they're a mandatory option. Horizon Zero dawn, Uncharted etc. Do modern fps use silencer loadouts for this?

To stand among modern games, i think an optional melle stealth mechanic is needed. We're going to need that combat knife. The pacing of the gameplay from the recent demo seems to provide a good opportunity. There should also be a gear upgrade path to lower stealth detection.

ps. the ai player detection didn't look like it was working at all, only after the alarms triggered. What happens in every other game is at a longer range the npcs get curious, and if you get close enough in the field of vision, or without crouching to lower the range etc they'll aggro.
Odyssey needs more Metal Gear Solid.
Where is my ability to sneak around?
An active camouflage suit please.
Night vision helmet.
Silenced weapons.
Knives.

And if some talk like old fashioned bobbies -

"Ello ello ello, wots goin on ere then sunny?"

I remember that as I got a clip round the ear from the local bobby for being out late and having no lights on my push bike with the words "I know your dad and he will be hearing about it if you give me any more cheek"

And yes they did say about a silencer after the stream.

stealth suits.

I hope it's not Crysis-like invisibility where the AI just ignores the shimmering man-shaped visual anomaly they see between bouts of gunfire and screams...

Every suit of armor has it's weak points; joints and seals, in particular.

Shields could be problematic, but there is sure to be some sort of counter, and not everyone will have shields on their suits.
