Custom billboard resources

Hey all,

With the announcement of the upcoming custom billboards, i thought it might be good to have a thread where we can post resources: links to good sites or original artwork.

In that vein, I assume many of us will be making custom maps of our zoos. HERE is a link to a site with silhouettes of species, as are used on most zoo maps....

Very cool. I don't know many websites, but I do suggest some apps. If you haven't already, I started a thread where I uploaded some images of animals for all the habitat species. I used the Prisma app and converted real-life animal photos into art using the Femme art style. While it's not truly my own artwork, I think it's another option

I'm currently finding some very nice prints on Etsy.

By the way: Dear fellow players, please be careful when showing your custom billboards publicly. Depending on the sources, you could get copyright issues. I know we all like to save images from various sources, and personally I will use them in game. But be carefull when showing screenshots in the forum and such, if you aren't absolutely sure they are copyright free or are free for creative use.

If I can find it, a few months ago I found a website that has animal sounds. But I could only find it by clicking on 1 website, then clicking the link to go to it. It was really difficult to find it in the 1st place

My cunning plan is to google infographics on the topics / animals / biomes I care about since that seems to come up with lots of poster like styles I can choose from and they are usually created and made available for free because they are an educational tool. I think it will be more of an issue for those who create a lot for the workshop who might have to avoid copyright issues although it never seemed to be an issue in Planet Coaster with all the disney materials etc. people stuck in there. If Disney aren't going to bother then I sincerely doubt that educational organisations like the WWF (world wildlife fund not the wrestling ;)) will get upset.

If people are after more historic looking stuff for their museum / natural history sections then the Royal Society print shop might be a good place to go. I have some of their prints in my house and there's loads that might be appropriate. https://prints.royalsociety.org/collections/animals-and-nature-prints-drawings

Oh i also wanted to ask if anyone had much luck with the nvidia (or similar) photo tools to help create a zoo map. I'm trying to experiment with the filters (like painterly) to get a top down view of the zoo that I can then turn into a map with the judicious use of some numbers and paint 3d. Was wondering if anyone had tried anything similar and had any success / recommendations for settings?

That's a tremendous idea. If anyone has any luck with that can tehy let us know?
So I gave it a first go - this is very much a rough attempt that I didn't spent much time on. Needs some serious finessing but I think the idea works in principle.

Guys, somehow I missed this thread. There is a site called Canva, you can get thousands of images, logos, etc and design anything you want. The majority of the content is in the same playful style as Planet Zoo so perfect to blend in with the game. You can create an account for free and try it out, they do give you a selection of their icons at no cost. I have a pro account with them and it is only around 12-14 bucks a month so worth the investment. I have had the account for years and had no regrets. You can import other images from your own folders and personal art as well, so it does open many possibilities.

As far as any copyright issues, I have worked with a number of artists thru the years designing zoological exhibits and everything associated with them, it is highly unlikely that anyone will be bothered by virtual game players using images in their imaginary zoos that generate no profit in real life to them. The majority of these artists create these images as commission work for zoos/museums/exhibitions, they sell a particular logo's right to that institution for them to use it how they see fit. If anything you should worry about the zoos coming after you if you use their logos, and that is another very unlikely scenario, you are far more likely to get hit by a bus. In any case, as someone already mentioned, there were absolutely no issues with Planet Coaster, and I remember seeing plenty of Disney Art there, and no one in the world would come at you harder than Disney when it comes to using their art without permission. I guess that no one truly cares much about a virtual world that lives only inside our pc's and heads. Just have fun and enjoy the game.
