What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

After feeling a bit burnt out for a while I started planning a new Japanese zoo. Unlike the ones I worked on before this will be a bit more sub-tropical in feel with space for the new SE Asian animals. I was planning on continuing with a central European zoo but when it's still below zero with metres of snow outside I feel like some warm weather escapism. Plus a Japanese zoo is realistic to include a proboscis monkey enclosure which isn't the case for Europe these days.

I reworked my "circle habitat" which was originally intended to house the Chinese Pangolin. But it turned out way too large, so now there is a big family of both tortoise species living there. For the Pangolin family, I created my first attempt of a more cage-like enclosure, but it's not yet finished. The Pangolins will of course open a certain Asian section in the zoo, eagerly waiting for the DLC :D I also traded some animals and I think I have to look out for some to buy as well, since I had a bunch dying from old age. And I'm slowly figuring out how to set up the animal talks.

Currently I'm building my first Japanese Zoo and have a Problem with the Entrance because the Fence I want to use in the Front is too long.

This gave me the Idea to build something that will be supposed to look like a round Aviary near the Entrance

Very work in progress Asian tropical house, which I have no idea how far I will get with. The style isn't really based on anything, but I feel like it got some kind of an Asian vibe.

I have attempted tropical houses many times but never gotten very far. Big buildings are not easy to me.
The enclosure in the front will be the outdoor part for the Malayan Tapirs. The log wall is a temporary solution.

Constructive criticism is welcome, I am not really sure how I feel about it myself at this point.

Great Design. I love it

I had a very special VIP in my zoo: ME!
And his phone actually does look like mine:

I also am seeing how we haven't gotten the SEA pack, yet everybody's already trying to figure out the next (I'm also guilty)

Finished the Macaque Enclosure in my Japanese Zoo today and it looks absolutely beautiful. But there are also for some Reason Problems with the Climbing Stuff (somehow this seems to be overall currently bugged because I'm experiencing the same Problem more often) which makes them a bit unhappy and unable to reach their Onsen which means that I needed to place a Waterbowl in their Shelter.
Got a new Charging Cable a few Days ago that doesn't stop working after the slightest Movement, so maybe I'll upload a few Screenshots later.

Also got visited by the Inspector and her Clone😆

I started the new area of the zoo: Africa. The Mediterranean wheather is very good to keep African animals, and since we have a lot of them in the game, I won't have to pretend anymore, so it's going to be a good change for me. Also gone is the white/blue Mediterranean theme of the first area. The first habitat I've built is for the hyenas and it has 3 viewpoints: a lower fence with a trench, an elevated platform where the animal talk is and a glass panel to have closer views.

Very short session today, but I finished decorating the Pangolin habitat. Space is juuuust enough for three animals. I'm really happy with my first one of the kind, and I might do those smaller cage-thingies more often for some of the small animals from now on. It adds a touch of realism without being too complicated.

Lea_G, really love the work :) The outside plant decorations are exceptional little details ... this is precisely the kind of stuff I am trying to put into my own exhibits at the moment. Those little touches which add up to something special.

SalamAnders, brilliant work mate.

Aramar cracking design mate.

darthquell, brilliant design on the habitat structure. It's one of those ones - a structure with a roof and stuff - I'm still a little intimidated to try.

But you guys inspire me. Keep at it. Love this thread.

I'm starting my 1st sandbox zoo, and my first exhibit is in tribute to one of my best friends. She loves birds, so I used the Indian Peafowl.

The mesh pieces I downloaded (you think I have that kinda skill?!). 4000 pieces at least
Oh wow, that's a lot of pieces indeed :D But it looks really good and could be useful for Jaguars and Leopards as well.

Thank you so much for your kind words :) It really is a challenge to get those details nice, but I enjoy getting better at it. Some rocks and foliage make a huge difference!

Yesterday, I discovered a very helpful series on Youtube which might be interesting for you guys, the Planet ZooKeeper series! He is an actual zookeeper in real life and shares some tips on fences and zoo design. I found that really helpful and I'm going to try and incorporate that as much as possible. Everything is very much doable with the in-game stuff and doesn't require a ton of custom pieces.

Just jumping back into the game now!

Thanks, y'all. It is my 1st realistic enclosure, as the rest are kinda not. I never thought about using it fir other animals, though. Great idea
