What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

So I built a habitat for the honey badger, found some good inspo, especially for the shelter.

progress on the baboon habitat is also going well

I haven't posted in a while, but, after a lot of refurbishment and changes this is what Kelbrook City Zoo now looks like:

Currently it stands at 64 habitats with 582 animals (that's including exhibit animals) with no guests and only necessary staff (9 vets, 42 keepers and 9 caretakers) But, with the new Asian DLC dropping I have planned for an expansion that will include around 10 more habitats. At that moment, I am working on the first habitat in this expansion and the framerate is still working fine but I will see how the games runs after I've done since this will boost the zoo to around 74 habitats and I've never built a zoo that big before.

I finally managed to fit a South American mixed species habitat into the little southwest corner of my zoo. It currently houses llamas, peccaries and rheas, although ideally I'd love to design it for rheas, guanacos and maras. But I'm quite happy with it! It's right next to the American Desert House (with prairie dogs, armadillos and countless reptiles) and can be observed from the bridge that connects the South America section to the entrance plaza.

Looking at the picture, I just noticed that all the three species are moving in groups right next to each other, which looks awesome!

Yeah, I keep saying that they managed to improve a lot herding in some of the last updates.

Been working on a stand alone exhibit for a while now. Only I still don't have a clue for which animal I'm building it... Currently I think I will go with the bush dog. But I also thought to make the indoor shelter an indoor exhibit with the sloths, which they could share with the armadillo, who also could enter the outside exhibit (would add some objects for the sloths as well, but they can't use any of it of course).

Today I remembered that I built a hidden pirate/treasure cave in my cliff and I spent a decent amount of time looking at it instead of building more rocks/cliffs, hehe. (The glass is where the water level will be, but for now it is easier to build without actual water.)

As a bonus(?): This is what the top of the cliff looks like. It's not quite finished, but getting there! I am very much an on and off player so it's not going very fast. And nooooo I've not ripped off LotR, I have no idea what you're talking about and will deny everything :p (Edit: to be fair so it does not sound like I made the entire house with all it's details completely myself, I took a lot of parts and ideas from a few blueprints I found on the workshop, altered, rebuilt and mashed them together.)

Got a lot of building done today. The first exhibit, for the bush dog, is almost finished. Most work needs to be put in the backstage area, which luckily they can reach without a very big opening. Also happy with the staff area. The second exhibit will be for the saki or ocelot. I was planning for the saki, but when I start to enter the faux rocks, the ocelot also became an option. So I will continue first with the cage for the outdoor exhibit and afterwards I will decide for which of the two I will go.

When done I want to make a larger exhibit on the oposite side of path. Maybe a larger exhibit with capybara/tapir or something with anteanter/maned wolf. Or some other mix.

Finally moving on to a different area of the zoo now that Tiger Forest is complete (for now, at least. I'm already having ideas for how to make it better but I'm putting my foot down and moving onto new stuff so I don't tire myself out with rebuilding for Tigers a 3rd time 😭) (I'll post a full tour of the area soon).
It's still kind of a WIP, but the past couple days I've worked on this little Koi pond and garden located just outside the zoo entrance. It's intended to be a serene little area that the future administration building conference room will look out onto. It was very refreshing to build an area that wasn't themed to look like a rainforest or Southeast Asia.

Also, it's dedicated to my girlfriend who loves Koi Fish! (and Capybaras, note the reward statue.)
