And I am generally new to the game but have a wealth of shortcuts such as EDDB, Mine Tool, a Materials link, Edmining link and numerous YouTube videos that help give players direction (as opposed to fumbling around). Thanks for the tip. I'm just a filthy casual so I don't know all the ins and outs.

I'm referring to time advantage. You can park near a supply point fill your FC hold as much as you want with short trips. Make 1 jump to the CG's gravity well and make short trips between you FC & CG.
Without a FC it's at least 2-3 jumps from a GC to a supply point & 3-5 jumps back. Making it much more time consuming for one load in whatever cargo ship you choose.
Overall one load takes longer as it's still the same amount of time docking
after ignoring them for quite some time and a long time off the game, and having said i would never have a carrier, i finally decided the obvious: that i would get a carrier. it went like this:If that is true then you are one of a very small group of commanders that would actually deserve having a FC. I have my doubts that you earned 5 billion without some understanding of mining but I guess I'll have to take you on your word.
Not everbody has the time or funds to, "just get one" - i was playing about two years before i bought an Anaconda (which i'm still engineering), now after about another two years, i just bought a Corvette...after ignoring them for quite some time and a long time off the game, and having said i would never have a carrier, i finally decided the obvious: that i would get a carrier. it went like this:

no mining involved except for one bromelite cg. plus a couple of other cg and basically bounty hunting, alone in a medium ship (ok, a fdl, a monster medium ship ;-)). roughly 3 weeks, 2-5h long session every other day, actually having a lot of fun (plus earning rank 5 with arissa which i had conveniently planned for a month before).
some rough initial planning and then experimenting on the way with different tools (3rd party tools are essential part of ed, sold separately) options, methods and places, thus finding better methods, more beautiful places in the process. 3 weeks of entertaining metagame + gameplay and chill = SARUBOBO VOL-ORZ, deployed with great success, fanfare and hilarity in these current cg. and beyond!
know what? carriers are the plague but are actually fun, very useful, and quite easy to get, no need to mine at all (if you don't want to). just get one.
but it's going to be a gorgoeus carrier!I might have enough money to buy a carrier in about 10 years!.
I don't think it makes much difference, does it? If anything, it probably makes them easier to get.3 CG simultaniously is a bit much all requiring the same commodity.
Likewise here: I know how to mine, but I don't find it very interesting. Most of my money has come from mission-running ... and having been playing the game for a while. If that is true then you are one of a very small group of commanders that would actually deserve having a FC. I have my doubts that you earned 5 billion without some understanding of mining but I guess I'll have to take you on your word.
For something like this, a round-trip from source to destination and back probably takes about 15 minutes in an engineered ship.I still think that fleet carriers give too much of an advantage in certain areas of the game and far too common.
And I am making those 2-3 jumps and am well within the % needed to get the rewards - all of them."yeah, I am twice as good now using the internet and sort tables by clicking column topics - thx to my FC"

I guess that's why frontier changed it to top 75% instead of top 25%
The third party websites are as accurate as the data we players give them, as the data comes from information provided by third party tools some of us players run in the background on our PCs and by other tools and methods for the Console users. However not everyone uses them at all and some switch them off to protect sources when CGs get competitive, also they only provide information when a station gets visited.....
"There is enough supply btw" Clearly you didn't read the part about third party website information not being accurate to actual in game markets....
If dont use jumpomium and guardian FSD booster you will still lose to those who do... so even with out FC if your not willing to use them... your still coming in the bottom of the list as there are players that will..."The egg's not been a thing for quite a while now" it was for years & it is again, DTEA just posted a vid 4 days ago.
"So if the CG is achievable then why complain that it is not fair? Can you do it as easily as others...no, but neither can I - but I can do it. I will complain when the advantage of the FC stops me from having a chance with completing a CG, but it seems silly to complain when you can achieve a CG and are just sore that others can do it faster."
Some of us don't have countless hours to pour into the game.
"I'll ask you to refrain from such statements please. I purchased my carrier before I had any understanding of mining and I have never indulged in any such exploit before or after."
If that is true then you are one of a very small group of commanders that would actually deserve having a FC. I have my doubts that you earned 5 billion without some understanding of mining but I guess I'll have to take you on your word.
It helps if you quote a person if you are directly addressing their post - my apologies in my late reply as I was unaware you commented on my post:"The egg's not been a thing for quite a while now" it was for years & it is again, DTEA just posted a vid 4 days ago.

I like it. Means all the eggs can't be sunk in all the baskets like usual.3 CG simultaniously is a bit much all requiring the same commodity.
