Explorer's Bar and Grill Visitor Log

For those who might be daunted by the voyage its not so bad. Its really quite fun.

  • I used an exploration Orca with 64LY range, 134LY with FSD boost.
  • I did not use any 3rd party software for route plotting. Each jump done through manual selection, looking forward only a couple stars.
  • I left the dense galactic arm tip at EOCS AIP XC-I C23-0
  • 67 jumps from the dense edge of the galactic arm.
  • 6 Basic FSD Boosts, 7 Standard FSD boosts, 18 premium FSD boosts.
  • Almost all star systems could be scooped for fuel. Fuel was never an issue.

Remember to pack FSD boost materials for traveling both ways. Don't count on finding the mats as you go.

It took a bit longer than I thought, but that was a fun journey! I think I'll give it a couple of days before setting back.

You may have been the first to make the trip to the bar in a Sidewinder. Congratulations CMDR!

Make sure you visit the sacrificial chambers ahem, viewing pavilion on hallvay 616, final door.

Greetings Commanders,

Thank you all for visiting the Bar & Grill. Your patronage is appreciated.

Due to low use, the Shipyard on the B&G is being shut down to save on maintenance costs. As there were no ships to buy, this was only relevant for any commander who wanted to transfer a ship out to the B&G (good lord, the cost!), and a few of the original madmen crew who brought mining vessels along for the deployment.

Should you need the shipyard services, please send a PM directly to me and I will reactivate it.

Cheers,
Heavy Johnson, Owner, B&G

Thank you for inspiring me to set out on this journey! I have seen things, going to the Formidine rift first, then along the southern edge all the way to your restaurant. I also did a few detours to look at sights plotted on galactic maps. I was at DSSA Aristarchos earlier today so I am not too deprived of civilised services but you sure know how to run an establishment!
The only downside is the deactivation of the shipyard, I was looking forward to transferring my Sidewinder to this place :D
I will rest here for tonight and set out on my journey back tomorrow. I will look for a way to cross North when the galactic arms permit.
Very good selection of beverages in the bar. I will check out the restaurant tomorrow but the menu looks very appetising. I have to consider buying a trinket to take home, though navigating all the way with it in the cargo hold will be even more of a challenge than getting here. But it is too tempting!

P.S.: I've unloaded some exploration data, I hope it helps pay the bills :)

This has really sparked my interest! I've done 2 major trips in my career so far:

1. Beagle Point in my 55ly Dolphin about 3yrs (?) back, literally the day the Dolphin was released!
2. A trip last year to SagA* which involved and extended stay at Colonia to do the engineers that are based there.

Since then I've feasted til I've burst on CG combat and PvE combat, maybe NOW I'm full?!

So if I did this trip I've got 3 ships to choose from:

71 ly Anaconda.
69 ly DBX.
57 ly Dolphin.

I don't like the Anaconda, in fact the story goes that I was setting off to Beagle in that same Conda but wanted to try the Dolphin which had just been released before I left. I bought one, engineered it for range and set off without ever going back for the Annie!

I did Colonia in the DBX, which was a nice run. My head says DBX but my heart says Dolphin, just for the nostalgia.

If I do this I'm not going to research the route!

I'm there in my Dolphin. It's my favourite exploration ship by far, so I vote Dolphin XD
This has been my second big exploration trip. First one was via Colonia, Sag A*, all the way to Beagle Point / Salomé's Reach and back.
Nothing can match the heat management of Dolphin. You can literally jump while scooping, it's incredible.
My Dolphin currently has 60.4 Ly jump range. On my previous trip it was 58.

Good site for comparison, pre-double engineering of class 5 FSD

Cutter, bare bones - 52LY

I think I'm gonna be boring and take my DBX. A little PP engineering to do first. I like it because it's permaboost to 500 but still jump 69 fully fuelled.

I'll also need to hunt a bit of niobium, other than that I've got stacks of jumponum.

Fancy meeting up 1/2 way?

I've just set out on my way back. Since I saw all the sights and tourist attractions on the way there (like Amundsen's star, Sepositus Beacon etc.) I will be trying to cross to the North - Perseus Arm as soon as possible. I'm just stopping at the "Hansel & Gretel" jumponium depot to restock. Feel free to add me, my CMDR name is the same as here (I'm on PC).

Cool! I sent you a request.
I'm going to head to King's Ransom first, unless I get what I need on the way.

When I will get back from Beagle Point, I will head in that direction for sure, it sounds like an explorer's dream. My most interesting trek so far was out to Star One, and while it wasn't difficult to get there, had to do a lot of manual plotting and FSD injections.

I think I can make it, with an engineered Asp Explorer (68ly jump range) and some injections.

Damn, I gotta do this. Is there a minimum jump range? Just wondering if I can take my 43ly Type-10 or if I have to bust out one of my 60ly+ ships.

"One of the furthest reachable points along the Outer Arm, getting to this system without a Fleet Carrier poses a great challenge to the legacy explorer, requiring a heavily engineered ship and the wherewithal to manually plot a minimum FSD-boosted course of 3000ly. A 50ly+ jump range is strongly recommended for such an intrepid commander's ship." - EDSM

I will need to try and get there myself.
