Where is the best source to learn about Elite lore, legends, facts, etc? I played Elite long, long ago in a galaxy far far away, but remember little about it save the actual flying, trading, and getting my butt kicked on a regular basis. Even then my reflexes weren't worth doo doo.

I picked the Empire because they have good looking ships and I like the logo.

Well, they support slavery too, so that's good to me.

Independent, because, just like in real life, there isn't a single faction that I can fully get behind. Something is always amiss in one way or another, so I rather cherry pick what I need at any given moment in time than commit myself to one of them.

Imperial sexier ships and deeper lore.

cant wait to get beyond the petty squabbles of the lesser civilizations that has resulted in the travesty we see in Eranin and soon other systems that refuse to acknowledge the obvious superiority of the noble Emperors divine plan for the galaxy.

Alliance mainly because it's the new kid on the block and probably has enough loopholes to exploit for a cunning commander ;) besides I see the Empire akin to the Dune families and the Federation akin to the Blake's 7 Federation (all they need is a Servalan at the helm and they are complete!)

Independent although I am tempted by the federation being a trekkie and having a star fleet email address as well. Pity there is no Foundation to pick from as well, but I guess I can be from the Foundation, being Independent. Ah the beauty of ED. I can be anything I want :)

For me it has to be Empire (but I think I voted wrong on your poll ... sorry).

In my mind they will have puka English accents, drink tea and fly the finest ships in the galaxy. Picking a side will give some direction to how I play and perhaps a little light hearted RP between commanders. That said switching sides for a pile of cash may also be an RP option.

Seems i like to be against common thinking, Reasons? Not a sigle one (besides ship looks). There is no and will be no story line so i cant find myself immersed with any faction. Its just bland choice.

Had a quick look at the elite wiki and it seems I will at leat start out in the Alliance.
"The Alliance portrays itself as a beacon of human rights and democracy in an increasingly autocratic universe.
The Alliance does not conform to the ideals of the totalitarian Empire, or the authoritarian Federation."
My man Dan is cool with these as a starting point.
A good looking uniform would help as well ;-)

Against common thinking? i think not, there's a lot of us Imperials here, but many of us are to high and mighty to bother replying to such trivial threads(my slave is writing this while i have a Jinx bath(beer of the Empire!) :p.........oh Imperial ships are damn slinky to ;)
