Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Grats! The first one is the hardest. You just need enough for the Maverick suit, after that it gets a bit easier. Anyway, you're hooked now :p

So, yesterday I had a near-fatality when the station started firing on my taxi. Escaped with 16% hull and no shields. After that I started running farther outside the base before calling the taxi, just in case.

But today I discovered that I could turn off the alarms and defenses from inside the security area. Pretty cool, to just run across it.

Phase 2 will be interesting. I wonder if they'll be releasing it this week?
I think phase 2 Wednesday?
There's too much info flying about to keep track of it all.🤪

Argh! Spec Ops. I'm nicely working on a Clipper when those four dudes ride into town and I have to get the hell out of Dodge. Their attacks seem even more reliable and vicious now that I'm down to 'unfriendly' with the enemy. I feel like I'm on a hit-list. I try to run into the nearest patch of green I can see but if I've taken substantial hull damage I normally give up the battle. What to do, leave town for good, summon up my Vulture and go Low? Or something else?
EDIT
The medium CZs are not survivable for me at this point. Lows are working though, with Pythons, Clippers and Cutters spawning.
Always leave a CZ when you have substantial hull damage.

When you get the warning that Spec Ops are on their way head to join the greens, when the Spec Ops arrive avoid then for a bit until they get involved with the greens, then start with Delta and leave Alpha for last If you go for that one first the others will gang up on you the other way they usually don't.

They tend to be very tough and well armed with a tendency to use Enzyme missiles when your shields go down.

I tend to use a Mamba in a CZ but you want a tough ship with punch, I do have a CZ Clipper but it is armed with seekers and I use it to snipe Capital ships and wouldn't take it anywhere near a Spec Ops team.

check up stairs at the power plant after the regulator is fitted. I found alarm and scanning panels there to turn off.

When into a CZ at the CG system, hit 'H' to lock onto nearest enemy and saw a weakened shield FDL, happily fired all weapons, couple of passes and surge detected, boosted to close in and finish when I noticed it was a player, not an NPC. Lucky he had ~40% hull left.

If you are reading this CMDR Rev Monty Pomms, sorry! That was me.

If you were in open and they were red on your display before you fired all is fine, otherwise you are a very naughty person.

I have been there and done worse killing off another players high ranked SLF pilot in the bargain, the red mist of combat.

Unless of course they were displaying as an NPC on your radar in which case you need to talk to support about which bug you ought to report/vote up one with a player displaying as an NPC or one where an NPC has CMDR in the name.

While you are talking CZs - A tip for new readers: Always plot a course to a nearby system before engaging (and check it isn't obscured when you are in the CZ) - that way if you are getting your posterior handed to you on a plate all you have to do is retract weapons, select "next system in route" (you DID create that control binding didn't you?) - and h-jump out.

I had to use that twice yesterday when the whole screen turned red - stupid NPCs getting in the way.

Yep, always map the 'Brave Sir Robin' key. :D (y)

Odyssey. Second mission down \o/

I think I found a bug but just wanted to run through it with my esteemed fellow threadittes:

I had to collect something from "container 0" in the "habitat". Found the building, found a terminal and it said it was in the " " i.e. nothing/null and, looking through the other rooms of the hab, there was no "container 0" to be found in any of them. A general mooch around got me to the container so it was no biggy though.

Has anyone seen this yet?

Yeah, it's in the "Surrounding Areas" which apparently is missing a string variable and shows up as "".

By the way, minor tip -- I've discovered that in some cases I have a threat 0 mission and when I show up there are hostiles. I always scope the place with the external camera before leaving the Apex. If I see hostiles, I've found that relogging will often fix the issue, and they disappear.

Cheers!

Also, I just grabbed another mission and selected the target showing with the mission marker. Trouble is, that was the mission I just completed... need to have read the destination title! Recalled a shuttle so now en route to the right marker. 155kls to go

Quite enjoying the expac now! Like going into the game for the first time all over again. Who was it said the learning curve is like a cliff with an overhang?

PS

I'd like to see a base in daylight at some point :D

The same person that said Elite was like a swimming lesson where they throw you in at the deep end with some bricks in your coat pockets for ballast.

In daylight the hostile environment warnings are red not blue.

Tried a power shutdown mission, no blue guys out side so proceeded to a terminal to locate a lvl 3 person to scan.
They spotted me scanning in clone mode and then keeled over dead, but still able to have there credentials cloned.
Entered the power room. Two persons where there, I pulled out the number two weapon. I did not fire. They just fell down dead.??
So, I went to the power regulator and removed it , shutting down the whole place. and locking me in the power room. hmmm?
They doors are shut and no power to open them. Thinking thinking....thinking...Oh power up the place again. and open the doors?
but I need the regulator. Did that and went to the doors, saw a power point inside the door area. overloaded it to lock the door open.
Then hoiked the regulator again and called a taxi. I had l already shut down scanning and alarms, turrets, and some others.

I did noticed a cobra and viper circling the base on the way in. What were they doing?
Waiting for me to leave, and shot down the taxi. completely. mission failed in the air on the way out.
An interesting twist on the scenario here. I scared the npc's to death.
A the taxi is going to be a weak ship in the air. bring your maxed corvette on your missions ??

Got the Maverick suit. Have to figure out how to transfer my peashooter from the flight suit. I also bought 5 power cells. Because it wasn't obvious I'd actually bought them. In the shuttle inventory, I can see them but I'm puzzled as to how to equip them. It looks similar to transferring cargo on a carrier but it's not obvious if they've gone into my suit inventory or not.

It's also no obvious as to what suit I have on. I've created a loadout and saved it and it's "ticked" so I'm assuming I'm wearnig it.

All the bang-bangs available at the shoppe are still out of my price reange so I think combat can wait a while.

I may go back to mining tritium in Horizons to unfry my brainbox :D

And the game just froze...

When you are in the shuttle you can look at the 3 panel and the loadout that is lit is the one you are using, that is the place to equip your weapons.
