Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Waaaaaaaat? look at the size of that box compared to my comic bin.

We're gonna need a bigger computer desk, I think.

Thanks for the recommendation, Tyres. I'll play with those later.

Hope you dont get SRV sick like me. I have to limit myself to 1-2 sessions per planet run (150 mats) or I get motion sickness.

Work for some MNC. But with all the cost cutting, might not get to smell biz class again.

Ear plug in the ear I can bear, those big ones which cover the whole ear, hurts my ears.
You'll be okay, Yingnei. I also work for 'some MNC' and business is picking up. I'm right on the lowest level though. No business class flights for me.

Sorry to hear about your weird head shape.

And no, I don't get motion sick in the SRV.

Cost cutting is the name of the game now. All these powerplay factions at the top trying to show a better set of numbers so that they can consolidate/expand/undermine. It stinks, the powers that be just need to show good numbers for a couple of years then they get their promotion while the long term damage doesnt show yet.

Back to Elite... Just to confirm, asteroids are immune to all Newtonian Physics correct guys? You can slam a dozen cutters into the smallest 'roid and its vector/rotation will never change in-game?

I'm such a n00b.
I, on the other hand, am doing quite well. Maybe my age isn't as much of a factor as I was thinking it was ;)

I like the new stuff. It feels like Elite to me, still. It's hard and there's huge learning curve and the game doesn't tell you anything, just like the main game!

I have just over 4 million credits as of today. I want to have some credits for the next phase of the alpha. I'm sure they'll be useful.

Maybe I can buy a Cobra or something.

Same here I also find that it bind perfectly with the "old" game and I can't wait for the official launch and being able to progress with my CMDR. Lot of fun ahead !

Have I mentioned how much I hate you, and your insanely fast internet.
Actually, it's 100mbits per second. I have no line contention either so it's quite solid. I think the main facotor though was when I did the download - quite early morning so internet use was about as little as it could be. But still, yeah, it was pretty fast :D

I just did a clear save restart in the Alpha, selected one of the mission destinations that I was used to, only to find it needed a 140,000ls taxi trip!

So be warned, check where you are spawned before relying on that cheat sheet I posted earlier.
Picked up my forst mission! \o/

Yes, a 140kls trip to a facilty that's quite large so finding it a mess to locate "container 1". I think I'm going to clear my save too - once I find the option - and restart Odyssey afresh.

One little thing you might not have twigged to - You can fire-up one of the terminals in the base (charge it if it is an empty base), select "Facility" then an area and a compartment and it lists what is there. So for example in the easy fetch missions, in the habitat, open the habitat section of the facility screen then select each of the rooms an see where your "target" is - bear in mind that it could be outside - there are levels. When you see your target container etc you can bookmark it and then you get a marker indicating its direction on the compass tape, with the distance written underneath.

I did a power-up one last night and really needed that bookmark - ended up having to go through four different doors (burning the access and charging) to find my way to the thing.
