What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

Today i build a habitat for the timberwolfs.
I think it looks pretty good (wow self-praise smells)
When i wanted to place the wolves in the enclosure, i noticed a bug? I usually filter by type and then hit the "select all" button. Now i did the same thing again and the game simply sent ALL of the animals, that were in the trade center into the enclosure. Unfortunately, I saw that too late and one of the chimpanzee babies didn't survive :(
It wasn't like that before, was it?
Poor little monkey, I could cry.

Here now the wolf habitat.

Oh no, poor little baby :( But the wolf habitat looks great, I like those different height levels and your rock and foliage work!

Speaking of foliage... If there is a big outdoor viewing gallery AND an indoor walkthrough habitat for the binturongs, where do you think is the best spot to watch them? I believe I have to block the windows :D

Thank you Lea :) it is so comforting for me to place the rocks, it is a bit like meditating.

It looks really good :) i hate when the guests do this, they are so stupid. They stand behind a stone or a wall and try to see the animals and complain that they cannot see anything. 🤦‍♀️ (good that I don't know any English swear words! in German I would call them "Dumpfbacken")

Thank you! And I'm German too, "Dumpfbacken" is very accurate :D

Edit: I spent half of my Sunday with a postcard for the competition and it's a lot of fun! I just went in game to take some more pictures, but it rained throughout a whole ingame year :D Now I'm going to take a shower and have a coffee until the virtual sun comes out again :sneaky:

I built a Nile monitor opposite to my hippos. As the hippo habitat is so big, I lost sense of the scale and did a giant habitat for the monitors. I've decided to split it and use the other half for a pigmy hippo habitat, which I will do next. The water is deep enough for the monitors to dive if they become the next animals to do it.

So I have literally thousands of workshop items. So basically I am trying to organize them. Get rid of stuff that I wont use and try and make things cheaper by removing parts and items. Finally renaming so I can actually find what I need

This is taking a long time

I love this. I always think I should really just take a weekend and sort out all the things I've downloaded. But I never seem to get around to it. Most useful for me would be if I broke up some of the large packs, so that I had 10 usable fences to choose from rather than a 10 fence pack that I have to search through.

But I never seem to get around to actually doing it.... or end up downloading even more blueprints when I do, so that I never catch up. I guess it's a good problem to have -- too many choices!

I reworked my logo for the franchise zoo, it used to be a giraffe and is now a penguin. Two reasons, number one is that I want to use the logo on the postcard and the giraffe was just a random shape I googled, so that would in theory have been a copyright issue. Reason number two is that I don't have giraffes in that zoo yet  Now I made my own shape and the penguin is the first animal you meet, so that's fine.

I also re-arranged the sun bear/binturong habitat and added more climbing frames, which they now use a lot. Has anybody figured out what we need to do for the binturongs to hang on their tails? I was over the moon when I saw that on the trailer, but mine haven't done that so far. Do we need a special climbing piece for that animation?

And the last couple of hours went into a new habitat for the clouded leopards which is becoming a hell of a project. Unfortunately, my holidays are over tomorrow and I have to work...

I successfully re-relocated a lot of flamingos. I moved them back to their old habitat. The one I built for them was... Unsuitable.

Lomg story short: 100.000$ in fines later and they are back in their old habitat at severely reduced numbers.

A few things I learnt while doing this are.

1. I had some truly epic beautiful items that I didnt even know about.
2. There where some items that screamed to be improved. I think about 1 percent of all the workshop items I made alterations to. For example there was one tree house jungle themed. That I used the template to make viking/nordic, safari and outback.
3. Having your items in categories made the timed scenarios so much easier. I coded using numbers so for example. I would rename a shop 2a. Followed by its shop name. So to find all my shops I just type 2a.
4. I set up 10 categories to put workshop items. And I did give it a lot of thought before starting this but kind of feel I need more.
5. Bigger expensive habitats etc....did raise important questions. Like wow this is beautiful versus when are you actually going to use this.
6. I still have thousands to organise....

If anyone does have a better idea how to tidy workshop items please let me know

This is the gist of all my workshop items, haha! :ROFLMAO: So many beautiful creations and then I never use them. I have made a habit of only subscribing to things I think are going to be really useful. If I have a blueprint in my game for months and I have never used it (or rarely or for a one-off project), I just unsubscribe. No point in clogging up my menu.

I haven't been working on my zoos for the past 2 days, but have been inspired to start building fairy/wooden/magical-like houses and cabins just as a one-off thing. I might turn it into a small zoo with some of the lovely mods (fallow deer, sheep, pig, etc). Been inspired by Sdan's Lost Creek series he just started.

These would actually be perfect for my projects. I was searching on the workshop for fairy houses already to no avail.
I also didn't know we have a new archer for scale there :D He is for scale, isn't he? Really good work again, Peppy!

I just updated my google sheet with the region and biome infos of my new installed modded animals. I tell ya, collecting animals and actually using them are two different hobbies. :D Speaking of different hobbies: One part of me really wants to play, the other wants to keep on wirting. Sometimes I want to clone myself.

Thank you! If you want, I'll put it on the workshop and you are free to use them! I'm happy to share. :giggle: Yes, he's for scale but he isn't new. I just use this one instead because it has fewer pieces and it costs less (as I play franchise almost exclusively, I have to pay attention to prices of the blueprints I use).

Agree about the animals! Sometimes modding the game and setting it up is just as fun as playing. :p

They're adorable!

My word... But, as a friend of mine literally put it a few days ago when I was complaining: "Even if you want to become a writer, you're still allowed to be a zoo director at times."

Well, I finally made a generic logo for all my zoos. Now, what is the icon of conservation?

The Dodo.

It's not very detailed, but at the same time eye-catching.

It's not done yet, some tweaks here and there, but at least I have a logo

So today I used the remaining space of my initially huge habitat for the Nile monitors and turned it into the pigmy hippo habitat. I also started planning better the layout of my zoo, especially the transport rides, because I'm building it without a true masterplan in mindq. I'm going to relocate some animals soon too.
