Hi,

Can someone suggest a way to check my FPS in DK2, I have Asus GTX 970. Tried MSI Afterburner software, but couldn't get FPS to show, and I'm struggling to find a solution, google search doesn't come with anything useful - thx in advance

Hi mate, when I asked Afterburner seemed the most popular (I guess as some are already running it for overclocking). Which Rift display mode are you using as it appears slightly different? I'm guessing Extended in which case - bottom right on RivaTuner is it set to 300x300 which should make fps show top left on the HMD.

If that doesn't work let me know and I can PM you my settings.

hit ctrl-f and take out the left lens so you can see it?

I've used RivaTuner too, it can be run without MSI Afterburner if you are only interested in fps and not GPU stats (temp, power etc). The one thing that tripped me up is where you position the fps display, as Mark mentions above you actually have to move the position way outside the screen graphic they show. From memory mines at something like 400 x 340 to get it top center.

If you want more stats then run MSI Afterburner too and enable each stat you want to see. Its a pain to describe the full process so just google it and you'll find plenty of examples with screenshots.

Again this is just one other small detail I wish Frontier would implement in ED directly, being able to specify where the fps is displayed.

Thx all for help, I remember reading this posts, I installed it but then option for monitoring FPS was grayed out, I thought that maybe it works for MSI cards only, will give it another go, if I know it is supposed to work, I will figure it out :) . I use extended mode.

Quick question.

From time to time i've read people here wanting a dedicated Oculus forum and to me that makes a lot of sense. This thread alone is almost at 5000 posts and its hard to keep track of related threads in General Discussion. So I was wondering what if anything has anyone done to request a sub-forum? What is the best way to get my voice heard and request a sub-forum?

I'd actually be more in favor for a 'General Hardware' sub-forum as I feel that would be more beneficial than specific peripheral sub-forums which may not have a huge thread count. That way a single sub-forum could easily hold all the posts on joysticks, Oculus, head tracking etc in one place. It would also make more sense in terms of having a Oculus thread per ED beta release, or a new thread when a new Oculus driver/config gets released etc, as it means threads keep up to date instead of what has happened here where we just have one huge monolithic one making it almost impossible to filter what posts refer to which dk2 driver release/ED beta release etc.

Send a private message to Michael Brookes. That's how I first got the ball rolling with the RP sub-forum.

It has been requested, it probably just needs to be chased up.

But I'd leave it until next week to be honest... they're kind of busy with the beta 3 rollout.
 
I'm having an issue where when I go into the galaxy map and exit back out, my thrusters quit responding to key presses and I have to exit out to main menu and start the game again to get them working. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

I had this once and realised that my mouse pointer was on the primary desktop screen. I moved the mouse over to the right onto the secondary (rift) screen and my keyboard controls worked again.

I am having issues exiting the system map, neither the xbox red button or the escape key work. Can still use the other xbox controls so it is not an issue of the controller not working at all. Also having issues with the basic discovery scanner failing to respond (set to secondary fire on my HOTAS. Dropping out of SC and back solves this though. Not sure if these are related to rift or not.

After 3 -4 hours of play I'd say there are a number of little bugs and issues that have crept into beta 3 both in general and Rift specific.

Regarding your system map issue, I had the exact same problem, but found a work around that seems to work reliably. When you want to exit the system map, use your trigger button to zoom right in, far enough that the info window on the left disappears, now zoom back out until the info window re-appears. At this point you should be able to use your d-pad down to select the exit button and press A. You may need different button presses if you've re-assigned them.

I've also noticed

1. Issues with thrusters not working, though had assumed it was due to enabling one of the UI windows, but I guess the Galaxy map might be a cause.
2. Pressing B on xbox control no longer exits out of most or any windows - e.g. station services. Instead you have to scroll down to the exit button.
3. When viewing the Station Services window, there are areas when looking to the left or right where the UI window dims and interactions (e.g. button presses) are no longer sent to the window. At first I thought it was the dk2 camera losing track, but there is a strange 'dead' area when looking left/right where the UI window is not active, yet look a bit further left/right and it comes back on again.

Just updated to Beta 3 and the latest OR runtime. Can only run ED in Extended (even the config utility crashed with the demo on Direct mode). Game crashes when trying to run Direct but it Works fine in Extended. This is probably an OR issue (others have reported similar problems on the OR forums).

But... my main issue is that everything is so damn dark now. I spawned at Azeban and the Planet is completely black. The station itself, viewed from space, pretty much only shows the lights. The cockpit seems ok, and space in general also seems ok but if I'm even a few kms from the orbital, I can barely see it. I remember in Beta 2 that the planet next to Azeban was a nice blue and that there was plenty of light in space around the station. Is this normal or do I have to play around with settings ? There doesn't seem to be any options for brightness in-game. Any replies would be appreciated. Thanks !

I hit the 1 key accidently once and it switched my hotas and keyboard to the controls for the UI. When I exit the galaxy map, I think the controls focus on the UI b/c, when I hit 1, it goes back to normal.

Fly around the planet, the side facing the sun is in daylight.

Any of you guys having massive drops in frame rates at certain, apparently random, times? I go all the way down to 10-15, mostly around or in stations, but also in other more lonely areas too.
