No it's just stupidity on Frontier's part. They had supreme confidence in their product and their own abilities. Most likely because they'd been living in a bubble where everything had been optimised for their own machines, and they'd spent the last year slapping themselves on their backs telling each other what a good job they'd done.
There actually have been some lies. Deliberate lies I might say.
We were constantly told by CMs on streams how "we haven't seen everything" and "the optimization and planetary tech isn't finished in alpha and it will all look soooo much better" and how "they are listening to our feedback"...
They very well knew what they were releasing.
And yet, people who paid good money for Odyssey and dare to complain are told to suck it up because "that's how FDev are and just wait a couple of years when (or IF) FDev fixes most basic issues". Or better - any honest review on Steam is immediately called review bombing and hsyteria.
Well, I know how FDev operates (
I learned that the hard way) and I was expecting many things. But I certainly wasn't expecting THIS.
