Has the hysteria died down yet?

And again, at NO POINT did I say every review. I said "Reviews on Steam" but you could equally assume I mean the positive ones if you want to be that general about it.
Perhaps, but in fairness what you wrote is not exactly clear - the point of communication is to convey a concept or idea, if you can't do that clearly, you really shouldn't be blaiming the person you're attempting to convey it to.

Imagine it from the perspective of new players. Players who don’t know how Fdev “operates”.
What did they get? A broken game for quite a lot of money.

Imagine it from the perspective of people who paid for the alpha.
They paid extra money and what did they get? Yes, exactly.

The alpha felt like when you want to keep a child busy.
“Here, play this and make sure you test everything properly and write down everything.”
And then you just throw everything away anyway and release a broken mess. Who cares about the players anyway.

How is specifically calling out people claiming that this is what Frontier intended Odyssey to be not clear? It likely comes down to people not reading anything past the first sentence, which is sadly all too common on these forums. I won't apologise for that, or sugar-coat things for the people I'm calling out.

I get it, I really do. But again I was deliberately and specifically calling out the people claiming that this was all deliberate on Frontier's part. Those people clearly are idiots and should get out more.

I have, in many comments in this thread including my first post I said they'd completely borked the release and have to work to fix all the problems as quickly as they can. But that doesn't mean I can't also call out the "Kevin the teenager" bridage for being stupid, selfish, and childish. Why should they go scot-free?
Because people got duped by Fdev, and are rightfully upset. You calling them names makes you look bad.

If I can freely and honestly make a genuine and heartfelt point about people being all "woe is me" and "Frontier made a bad game deliberately and it's always going to be this way" then I don't mind being unpopular for it.

In the business I work for, customer satisfaction is intrinsically tied to the company performance, as is our bonus as staff members. Its all very well having stellar performance financlially but if your customer satisfaction score tanks, then no bonus and low performance figures result.

You have to get green across the screen as they say to get full company bonus!

Please cite some specific examples
Oh no, I'm going down this road, sorry. This is where people know they're starting to lose the argument by picking on specific part of what the other person said and trying to force them to give very specific examples to back up that one single claim. That's a dead-end argument that is. Everybody here knows that some people have claimed in Steam reviews and on social media that this was all deliberate on Frontier's part, and that this is what Odyssey was clearly intended to be. That needs no further highlighting from me or anybody else.

What else was this? Don’t tell me they did it by accident :)

You're back pedaling and now saying it's only the reviews that state fdev did this on purpose. You're making a claim, placing the burden of proof on you. The vast majority of the reviews I'm reading are people genuinely upset with the state of the game. None worthy of being called names.

No it's just stupidity on Frontier's part. They had supreme confidence in their product and their own abilities. Most likely because they'd been living in a bubble where everything had been optimised for their own machines, and they'd spent the last year slapping themselves on their backs telling each other what a good job they'd done.

You said it yourself, the vast majority are people genuinely upset. Did I state the majority of reviews were from idiots? Nope, not even remotely. I might have only been talking about a small number of reviews, but those still need calling out. What's wrong with that?

You saw enough to make a post about it, obviously. I'm reading through them now, and have yet to find an example. It's down to 27% positive, too.

Name calling makes you look bad and as inflammatory, if not more, than those you are supposedly seeing.

That's not what it reads like. Instead it read more like you were accusing anyone writing a negative review of claiming this is what FDev intended from the onset - it wouldn't be the first time I've heard such a straw man argument levied in this debate. That you include such hyperbole and terms such as 'hysteria' also does not help.

Of course, you don't need to apologize if this is not what you intended, but neither should you be given leeway if this is what was received and still feel you've made no error.

There actually have been some lies. Deliberate lies I might say.
We were constantly told by CMs on streams how "we haven't seen everything" and "the optimization and planetary tech isn't finished in alpha and it will all look soooo much better" and how "they are listening to our feedback"...
They very well knew what they were releasing.

And yet, people who paid good money for Odyssey and dare to complain are told to suck it up because "that's how FDev are and just wait a couple of years when (or IF) FDev fixes most basic issues". Or better - any honest review on Steam is immediately called review bombing and hsyteria.

Well, I know how FDev operates (I learned that the hard way) and I was expecting many things. But I certainly wasn't expecting THIS.

Every single time there's an update to Elite, there is a small group of people who throw their arms in the air, claim that Frontier have deliberately ruined the game, and that they are never going to play again. With Odyssey it's no different. Everybody here knows that.
