Packet loss is at 0%, it's visible on Resource Monitor.

Resource Monitor in Windows is a useful tool, I'll give you that, but when we're troubleshooting windows boxes and ethernet or internet connectivity at work, the first thing we do is whack wireshark on the box, capture some packets for a few minutes while trying to run whatever app or service isn't playing ball, then have a look using the many filters that Wireshark has for seeing the physical packet data and headers between source and destination IP.

Get it from https://www.wireshark.org/download.html

Thats my problem to !!! :(

has anyone else receiving those errors each and every time you try to load the game?
the game always loads normally - station menu shows up but after 3 seconds i get this server error, for like 2 hours now...

If anyone else can help, this is also the message i received after playing for about 30 minutes.

Server Error

Hi,
I just bought the game and installed it.
Did some tutorial and then jumped in the game (open mode). During my first hyperspace jump the game logged me out.
Now when I'm trying to connect to the game (even in solo mode) I have the following message:

Server Error
Could not connect to server. Press ok to return to the main menu.

It could be normal if there is a schedule maintenance but since I'm really new here I'm not sure it's the case.

Any insight on this would be appreciated.

Thanks.
Phil

P.s. It was great for the time I had

This is ridiculous, been downloading the beta 3 for 2 days now on a 6Mbps line.

My route to the download servers is more direct than many from EU, it's 8 hops with download server 300ms away. After some research I found that Amazon does indeed limit some downloads based on IP range and route costs, Microsoft cloud does the same thing. It's amazing that people would suggest that my country infrastructure is at fault rather than consider that Amazon is at fault, everything that ends up on the sea cables is beyond my ISPs' reach and I can reach the destination with no problems.

I ask for Frontier to please make the patches available from a normal FTP server.

Carcharodon, that link is broken.

@critic, nothing wrong with country's infrastructure, i updated last night in less than 45 minutes, and you live quite close to me from what I can surmise, seriously check your router/firewall settings

@critic, I'm in South Africa as well, in Cape Town. I normally use Afrihost's so called uncapped ADSL. The download crawls along at about 50kb/s. Then I cancel the download, switch to my capped Telkom account and get a steady 7Mbit/s download. Once the download is finished I switch back to Afrihost to actually play.

So either AWS doesn't like Afrihost/MTN or Afrihost/MTN don't like AWS or maybe both.

I'm perfectly aware of Wireshark and it's capabilities, was using it when it was Ethereal, it's an overkill for this...

Out of interest have you tried using a VPN to make your apparent IP somewhere else?
I'm gonna pretend I don't know what VPN is for this discussion, too much work ATM as I don't have a EU or US VPN profile lying around.

What ISP are you with and what package? And what should I check on my router settings, I'm connected and have no problems with any other downloads?

Yeah, I already tried switching to my telkom account, same situation. I wonder if you guys in CT get a different IP range.

As far as I can see, the download rate is capped at a convenient 64KB/s, peaking at 128KB/s.

Anyway, this smells of throttling, either by Amazon or two local ISPs (yet dependent on city), would be nice to have an alternative download option.

do you still receive it? because as i read it was because i bought point defence turret and it was resolved yesterday ;)

so if you still now got same problem you should ticket it ;/

I tried wiping my save game but:
1- Now I can't access the bulletin board.
2- I get disconnect on my first hyperdrive jump.

Just reporting!

Game & patch servers, same isp as the webstore and forums?

Im wondering because i recently moved to China, and while Every other game works (mmo's, the whole of steam, origin, gog, gamersgate, star citizen etc), the elite dangerous webstore and whole forums do NOT load without a VPN. So i really need to know if the game servers and patch/launcher/authentication servers are running from the same isp as the forums or webstore, because if so, i wont buy it if i cant play it without a VPN (imagine itd be laggy).

Is there a mod who could post the ip numbers to the game, patch and auth servers, so i could ping them and see if i can connect or not?
Cheers.

Concerns regarding the server load

First and foremost, excellent job on the release of Beta 3.

I'm really having a lot of fun and I can clearly differentiate Elite from the hordes of indie projects that don't lead anywhere. I only know a few games that do or did that. Developers are very lazy: being one, I know that very well. That's not the case of the people working behind ED it seems.

The date is pretty convenient, too. Just a few days before my birthday, I don't think that was intentional but that sure is a cool thing :p

However as we get closer to the release (Though that sentence doesn't mean much, I mean, of course we're not getting farther :p) I'm sort of concerned by the servers behind the whole system.

Anyone can see that loading times in tutorials are fast as heck, but that when it comes to online play, it takes ages.

And although I didn't have much lag when getting in or out of hyperspace, I now see more and more lag when people are flying around and suchlike.

Shouldn't now be the time to actually get more powerful hardware, and profit from the fact that Elite is still in beta to stress test them?

I'm pretty concerned because I know that games like EVE, that do not rely on piloting and such, had to actually get a super computer to handle all that stuff.

I know we have instancing to some extent in Elite, and I'd say, considering when lags tends to happen and suchlike, that warp mode for instance is actually not on the same servers or whatnot than the rest, or something like that - I mean it's clearly instancied. But still... There's a lot of lag to deal with.

Is anything planned regarding the hardware, network optimization, or implementation of related systems?

They are releasing 3.1 and announced the servers would be down, could be that?
Nope. I think I found out.
It was the sector: LP 98-132
Every time I tried to jump it was to that sector.
When I try to go there I get disconnect and I can't load back in the game.
So don't go there ; )
Also, I don't remenber the name of the starting station but I wasn't able to get the bulletin board to give me missions there. They were listed but I had an error trying to get a mission.
But eveything is fine in other sectors.
I had less then 1 hour to test all that, and I'm still fighting to learn the game since I started yesterday so there might be more to it...

I'm a backer for Star Citizen as well and have the same problem with download speeds with SC updates. On Afrihost it indicates days to download. It switches to hours on Telkom. I thought Cape Town was being routed via Joburg though. Mind you there is a fibre landing near Cape Town. I'll check my Telkom IP when I get home.

Server disconnect, respawn in the station wall.

Is it a known bug?

I undocked from Dahan in that moment server disconnected. I reentered open play and spawned in the station walls, then after some clipping i was inside the station again and was shot for trespassing it. Lost my cargo, no option to rebuy old loadout.

Respawned in the station again (on the landing pad). Status: wanted. Payed 1000cr. fee, still wanted.

What the hell? :D

Had the same thing myself last night ... I lost connection to the server, rejoined and found myself banging around inside the hollow walls of the space station ... managed to wriggle free before anything fatal occurred, but was a bit scary (and unexpected)

Failed to connect to server

When I am in super-cruise and reach within 30 light-seconds to a station/ celestial body, my game freezes for about 5 minutes and then it kicks me off the server, EVERY TIME I TRY TO RENDEZVOUS.
(PS- My computer runs fine on most other aspects of the game, such as docking and in hyperspace)
