Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

As always, toxic PvP players will destroy the community, then wonder why no one wants to play.

There will be very strong demands for a SOLO or PvE mode, and it will be hilarious to watch.
If you want to have a glimpse about how that conversation will go just go to Sea of Thieves’ forums… or Eve Online’s forums… or basically to the forums of any game that have dared to have only PvP servers

Isn't the slider going to resolve this?
are you new to Star Citizen?
The slider was burried with a “We are not going to have anything player facing…” instead they will use <Insert the name of a ground braking and cutting edge technology here > that will analyze your behavior and stuff you do in-game then decide if you like PvP or PvE or whatever… you know because asking the players is too old fashion!!! 🤣

"Blades" are as much a metaphor for Star Citizen as the fiber not reaching the rack.

At the time innovative, the technology has been completely sunsetted because "Blades" were such a thing of their time in the density wars, and now completely irrelevant and never to be seen again.

Much like the Sandwurmie, SATAball, and Squadron 42 :D

And what are these "blades" people keep talking about. Why do i get the feeling its something to do with having AI controlled turrets and instead of just calling it that CIG invented a fancy word for it?
It's not an invented word. It's server blade you put in your ship. In SC they will be physical components you have to plug in your ship (like IRL when you put blade in a server).

did some meanie blow up your pixel space ship?

Doesn't have to be that. But online games tend to bring out the worst in some people. Especially those with competitive elements or adversarial gameplay.

I don't think anyone could argue against that.

Its one thing i've noticed over the years, forums for single player games (or local multiplayer only) are usually so much nicer and have a lower percentage of twonks than online multiplayer games.

Absolutely. It's bad enough in normal games where everyone is on similar footing. The wallet warriors with their $$$$ spaceships are going to cry like no one has ever cried before. It will be glorious and is my most anticipated thing about SC.

:D

They boarded his Cutty, killed him and he congratulated them for it in the chat, i like that, its easy to get agree with people for doing that, he had a ROC in the back of that Cutty, they took the box out of it and sold its contents, but he kept his cool and went along with it because that's the nature of the game. They are Pirates hunting for ROC miners.

Hounding that A2 with EMP was pretty good.

Love to see how he reacts when CIG do as promised wrt LTI, his $1000 ship gets stolen and he has no insurance 😅

Well, to be fair, if someone flies without insurance in SC its no different to flying without rebuy in ED. Anyone complains about dying without insurance in SC will be told "Never fly without insurance".

But yeah, there will be a difference between losing stuff while its alpha and nothing really matters anyway to losing time and assets/credits due to it being the Nth time in a day you've been killed.

I mean, let's imagine that CIG somehow can solve the number of players per server issue. The game world is so tiny, it will only take a half a dozen gankers to absoloutely ruin the day of dozens of players.

This is honestly infuriating. Kill trespassers, go to jail. No way to prevent others from flying super expensive pieces of equipment (DNA locks anyone?). In the dog-eat-dog world of Star Citizen I would at least expect remote self-destruct switches.

SC is not ready for piracy.

With ships its done on a shoot first basis, if you shoot at a civilian ship you get a crime stat, the shield impacts on the civilian ship are the trigger. if the civilian ship shoots back at you now with your crime stat he remains lawful. at least that's how its supposed to work but often server lag isn't fast enough.

With Avatars its in interesting conundrum because you can kill someone in 2 seconds and how does the code determine who is the aggressor and who is the defender? as the defender you might kill the aggressor first. how does the code determine who are the good guys and who are the bad guys?
I don't see how it can do that, how would the code know what you're thinking?

I think what you would have to do is make people chose to play an outlaw or not when they log on, if they chose not but kill a civilian your status changes to outlaw.
