Um, correct me if I'm wrong, but can't Odyssey players freely login to Horizons and then back into Odyssey without losing their progression?
Reasonable statement.
But reason does not drive the upper management.
Short term profit does.
Learning from history is reasonable. After the well documented debacles of CP 2077 and Fallout 76, Mr. Braben's decision to launch Odyssey as a finished DLC does not reflect reason.
I don't follow, but whatever, it's not up to me to fix or sell the various aspects of this game to you. I'm just what I appear to be, someone who cares about the future of the game. Honestly it's the most exciting thing you can do in the game.. I used to be a total PvE guy but nothing compares to a brilliant duel.. it's what makes this game sooo good and irrelplaceable. I wouldn't knock it till you've tried it, and no i don't mean just getting blown up by gankers as trying it.. or being a ganker for that matter... that's not a proper duel or wing fight. Hop into a 3v3 in the rocks sometime. You'll come out of it wanting more
In all of our clashes, both friendly, or on opposite sides of the table, you have not, and I wouldn't expect it from you. Straight.
You asked me what I found better gameplay in Odyssey - I gave a to-the -point response. I find it fun! but then, I stopped playing FPS games once they got a bit 'modern' so find the gameplay exactly to the level I wish.
You, and the rest of your Discord, community, squadron, whatever, have a rather specific interest (which reminds me of the canyone runners and hooners - self-made entertainment that the game doesn't intentionally provide!) which you consider is not being best served by Odyssey (because it has issues, which are being addressed as rapidly as Fontier Devs are able - which means not in a rush) bacause it was released in a mess. (I have never argued otherwise)
Others play their way - but whay not reverse the question and ask if removing the expansion because it affects your 'community, so removing it for the others is required... Is that considerate?
Then the OP just should play HORIZONS then

Because changes to Odyssey have been negatively impacting Horizons players, I'm guessing.
Don't get me wrong, it's fun to watch you people lose your minds, and even more fun to contribute to the mayhem, but I really think you people are overreacting to one man's rant.

The actual issue is that the use of the pronoun is not clear, since there is no preceding referent for it (it's the thread title) and there is no referent immediately subsequent that would clarify, e.g. "my squad and I" or "the 200-odd members of my Discord agree that..."Disclaimer, to avoid people strangely trying to insert themselves into every 'we' ever. 'We' in this case, is my squad, most people who frequent my discord (about 200 skilled, active players), everyone I know who plays BGS to any decent level, and a whole bunch of random people I've discussed it with. Every 'we' does not have to cover every population, otherwise every statement of 'we' ever made would by necessity include the whole human race.
But I expected nothing less from this forum.
While I would have expected multiple "you don't speak for me" responses anyway, you need to accept that your unclear choice of pronoun is practically begging to be misinterpreted.

Others (including the members of one squadron I am in) enjoy it immensely - oddly I don't feel put out by that.
My friends playing Horizons have had to give up on fight nights because the lag is so bad.. Carriers are borked and instancing is wayyyy worse right now. It's sucking the fun outta things which is causing a lot of people to play other games, I know of a few groups who's discords are now getting together in other games so it's kinds sad for Elite in it's entirity but hopefully they fix it fast... because players are going elsewhere and Horizons is suffering too.
Horses for courses of course! But you must've had some terrible opponents if you found it boring becuase it's heart-pounding mayhem at the sharper end.. heck even at the blunt end. I remember one of the first times i had a fight with my friend in badly engineered sidewinders! it was a blast and we were shouting and sweating and having a whale of a time.. you may hate it or not like and that's cool because we are all different animals but i find it incredulous that you were bored.. that's almost impossible in PvP
I think it's pretty clear what I'm saying, it's about percentages. And yes, I definitely do think that more people are unsatisfied for the reasons I am (which have nothing to do with pvp, though you have made it clear that your stance toward me has somehow changed since I made this my primary playstyle, do you remember when I was a BGS carebear?), than people who think that the FPS section is fun and good.
You can disagree if you like, but I think you have a very difficult position to defend. Something the game didn't NEED (although I admit it's a nice to have) was implemented, breaking almost everythign else. Not worth it. It;s mathematical.
I have lived on both sides of the fence here.. for years i used to lead large groups in PVP... a core 8 man group in DAoC and up to 150 other players that followed in mass. I did this for years. But lately... i play solo/group and have ZERO interest AT THIS TIME in either PVP or even significant social interaction... though that too may come back one day
people change and move in and out of things for many reasons. neither is wrong... solo is relaxing, pvp is more for the young IMO.... meaning under 40 imo. Although, i am considering finding some on foot combat with my sons on the open server... we shall see.
