Odyssey VR specific bug reports - please contribute!

Has anyone noticed HDM image is not Horizontal, tilted slightly to the right?
Which type of HMD are you using? For inside-out Windows Mixed Reality stuff, that's a common ocurrence that has nothing to do with ED. Got to the WMR settings and clear the environmental data, that should fix it.

I'm using an HP Reverb G2 and launching ED via Steam. Never had the problem before latest launch, but clearing environmental data seems to have done the trick, thanks for your help.

Im not sure what theyve done to the lighting in the latest patch but seems like theyve turned off the 3D light coming from the sun. Looks very bland and non 3D.

I've got a Quest 2 with a link cable and I get two bugs, the one where scatter (rocks etc) are only displayed in one eye, not just the right but sometimes also the left. The other one's alternating bands of light that follow wherever I look. They're worse when near a strong light source like a sun or on a bright world. In these bands the game world can be blocky especially in space. Very weird and not present in any other VR game I've got so it's not the headset itself and I've tried changing the Gamma etc. Anyone else get that?

Edit, oh yeah it also crashes every 20mins or so. It's not tied to a specific thing (like accessing a particular menu etc).

What does acknowledged mean? Possible in the queue for bug squashing for one of these roadmap patches?
When an issue has been “Confirmed” by players (10 individual confirmations for Elite), FDev will review the issue and will move what they believe to be legitimate issues to “Acknowledged” status. ”Acknowledged” issues have been logged and are being tracked internally by Frontier Developments.

Whether it gets fixed in one of the upcoming patches is another matter, but at least the issues will be on the books 😁 Stuff that doesn’t get Confirmed will eventually get the black mark of “Expired” and will never be dealt with, so it’s in our interests to get those 10 confirmations 👍

Has anyone noticed that 3 or more NPCs even in an abandoned area/settlement will tank FPS even with an HMD resolution of 1.0 on Oculus Rift S? I've tried everything and built up patience and did my best to have a good time but Odyssey is absolutely awful to play in VR. The performance needs to be improved immediately with heavy increases in FPS - it's not right that I die in the middle of a vital mission to my immersion/gameplay/experience/simulation by the mere presence of more than 3 NPCs.

RTX 3060, Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB, B450, SSD

My Rift S is packed away, but in my Quest 2 + Link I’ve done several abandoned settlement recover-the-MacGuffin missions with up to a dozen or so Mercs having a go at me, and not had any framerate issues.

I’ve also entered stutter-o-vision on Station concourses for no apparent reason, which a quick exit to main menu cures.

Performance is one of those “🤷‍♂️“ issues at the moment - hopefully the next few Updates will sort things out.

That's what I was afraid of, that the disparity would be just as insane for VR devices. I want to say I'm glad to hear that Quest users are having a smooth experience, but that might be just you and/or a few other CMDRs....

I'm getting 120+ fps on the desktop with ultra settings across the board, but 15fps with my Rift S when 3 or more hostile NPCs show up, give me a break.

The OP has been updated - just a few confirmations on a couple of issues (but not enough to tip them over into “Confirmed”) and a duplicate bug report for the Shipyard view glitch.

I think I’m definitely one of the lucky ones - I see people with systems that are much better than mine getting worse performance. I’m using a GTX 1080 so it makes me wonder if there’s some kind of VR driver issue with the 3xxx series cards like there was back when they first released?

That's a great point, I recall spotting some complaints about the 30xx and certain NVIDIA driver versions... Maybe a rollback would be an option to try? Thanks for mentioning that, might have some luck there.

Supercruise news, just stated that a fix for the DSS will be implemented thursday. =)
