Anything good Coming ? like Fleet carrier social spaces maybe ? or the ability to sit down in the social space and open up a chat with a commander, maybe order a beer from the bar tender? (i mean it is a social space), we need some good news to balance all the bad news. if You're not working on VR or Ship interiors , please then tell us what exactly you are planning to work on, so that we have something to really look forward too.

They will get back to you as soon as they've coaxed Gary and Tessa the minimum wage interns out of the broom cupboard where they've been crying uncontrollably for the last 3 days.. because Steve can't do it all on his own y'know.

Or have 'low hanging fruit' mini updates. The balance tweaks were almost this, and would be relatively quick wins. Say, look at the Asp Scout one week, the next say up some Powerplay values (say, weekly rank reward and fortification allocations). Just small things that would eventually add up.

I understand that it might not be what you want to hear, but it is definitely the truth. I can't give you a definitive answer if VR will be developed further on or not, because that is the answer. At the moment it's not planned. It may be in the future. It may not. Not everything is set in stone.
Somebody was complaining about Mechwarrior 5 yesterday saying, "if I set myself up in an ambush position, why do I have to wait 15 minutes for the enemy AI to patrol round the settlement and walk into it?!"

I mean...........?

Did I misunderstand the description of the product I bought (on 2 PCs) and it wasn't planned to be a single DLC, but would have additional 'features' tacked on over time?

Not Zac obviously, but I don't think the way Odyssey has been sold or promoted precludes additions and updates.

Where it differs from Horizons, is that Horizons was advertised as a "season" and a firm menu of specific future updates was promised as part of your forty quid. They then struggled to implement everything they'd promised, on-time and in good condition (late, half-baked multicrew, etc.).

Odyssey has more or less been sold and promoted as roughly what we've got (barring bugs and issues). Anything else is extra.

So further, unpaid additions can come to Odyssey, just as the Beyond updates did before to Horizons and Base users, and are likely planned. They're just not being promoted with specific features and specific schedule as part of the Odyssey update; they aren't being sold to us as jam tomorrow, and so they're freer to chop-and-change and respond to what's working and what isn't as development goes on.

It is more the question of "were features / content deliberately delayed until the console release?" as this is the message I, and possibly others, am getting, so clarity would be great.

Bar my obvious 'baiting' of doomsayers I am pretty positive overall of the game (and Odyssey in particular as I really enjoy the foot-based activity) so am not inclined to berate either the game or Frontier just because I can.

It seems like a lot of this new honesty needs to be clarified much more clearly.

No plans to develop VR further as we have it now doesn't even fully make sense as a sentence and could be interpreted in a couple of different ways.

They need to say, very specifically that they either mean.

There will never be any more VR development for the game.

Or

We are not currently working on VR development, but will look at it in the future 9nce we've sorted the mess out.

And if they haven't made a decision on either of those two, then they need to say.

We are making a decision on if we will ever do any more VR development.

They can't be "honest" without clear concise answers that can only be interpreted in one way.
We have been through all this before. You assume they know for certain that no further development of VR for Odyssey will be made ever! I doubt very much if that is their position. It seems to me what they are saying is that VR for Odyssey is not on the road map now, probably as they have too much other stuff on their plate. A year down the line, when Odyssey is sorted there could be very pressing reasons for them to add VR to the on foot experience.

Yeah that's fair feedback. There's no way for me to say this without it being a 'typical cliché' response but those things are moving behind the scenes in terms of sharing longer term plans - but they're not quite ready to share at the moment. Again, as soon as we can, we will.
Just for balance, and I have and will put the boot in when I think it's deserved. I love Elite Dangerous - but I'm having more fun with Odyssey than I have had with the game for years. Of course it has some issues, and my heart goes out to the people with genuine gamebreaking problems, as it did when Horizon was launched, but my experience has been pretty much awesome and I'm playing the game far more than I really should. :)

I am baffled by the flood of apparent spite and negativity from some directions, I genuinely wonder if the corona virus and the lockdown has accelerated the evolution of the Entitlement gene.

As I say, for balance, issues aside - Devs, you frigging rock! :) XXX

They said on stream there was more stuff coming. Bet you they can't do it until after console release though because it would further fracture a fractured community. At this point though my trust that it will be something the community wants is exceedingly low and my expectation that it will actually work and not bring 50 more bugs to the table is through the floor in negative territory.

I look at it like this I bought the dlc they keep fixing it and keep adding stuff to it so other than subpar frame rates I cant complain yet.
as far as vr goes you are not losing vr you still have what you have in horizons

Have you noticed that many positive comments for the game come with name calling and derision to the people who have genuine complaints? Calling people spiteful and Entitled even inferring that they are genetically defective to back up your point doesn't improve your argument.

I also have had fun in Odyssey! It's going to be a great game if it ever gets fixed and built upon. It's easy to be positive without calling people names.

In the early days, they used to do frequent mini-updates. A majority (vocal ?) complained that it was taking ages to download patches all the time, due to internet speeds etc, so FD changed to larger, less frequent updates.

The reverse is also true; people with a more negative outlook often consider anyone with a more positive outlook a shill, white knight and so forth. Its just the general tendency to assume that people with a similar opinion are smart and cool people, and people with a different opinion are stupid and evil and so on. The fact that these discussions take place outside of punching range while fully anonymous kinda enhances these biases I suspect: put some of the 'opposing sides' in one room and I bet the tone would be rather different. :)

You 'young man' need to go and sit yourself in a dark room and have a word with yourself. We'll have none of this sensible well reasoned stuff on here!
