Still at @Button Pusher

As for the stock value, it's not something I would profess to know much about but it had seemed over-valued from the previous report. Time will tell better once things stabilise hopefully.
Glassdoor is not a good way to make assumptions as to the internal workings of any company. The reviews are made by ppl you have never met and have not means to judge their motivation. Some are probably just poop posting, as i've learned in some jobs i have had. There are many potential reasons for ppl coming and going and not controlable by FD. Affordable social housing being one of most complained about.
Either way, assumptions are bad.
The VR crowd knew before the launch it wasn't being prioritised but even at that, FD made it happen in cockpits and tried to make the switch between VR and flat easier.
If ppl made a decision on thinking it just magically appear then that is on them.
It would be like me expecting the game to work on my borderline PC.
I chose to wait.
Seemed sensible at the time

I can live with no full VR support in Ody.
But the VR we have so far must be optimized.

The are quite a few problem they need to sort out.
Extreme lag in stations and planet ports, FSS scanner, Overbright menus, Lightning , etc.
I have to restat my client quite often to clear the cache. Think its becuse i switch between 2D in concourse and then to 3D in my ship.
But even if i just stay in my ship the lag will become horrbile after a while so i have to restart the client.
Graphics settings is set to medium but in Horizon i have it to ultra settings.
In Horizion it runs smooth for hours and hours of game play. But in Ody, restart of the client after 20-30 min.

Iam worried what will happend when they merge the planet tech etc with Horizion.
Will the game be more or less unplayable in VR?

And what worries me is that they will not optimize and just leave the support for VR in its current state.

This is hardly FDevs fault. Apple refused to support hardware shaders which ED moved on to using.
It's still an example of Frontier having to choose between a portion of its playerbase and cutting down on features, and they chose the latter. That said, while it sucks for the Mac players it was probably the most genuine example.

I'd rather point at other examples like GalNet being cut (I think they underestimated the number of people who care about that) and, well, VR being cut for technical reasons, same as Mac support but this time it's entirely on Frontier.

I knew this was coming. Still though FD had a loyal fanbase that had been promised the same as everyone else but they were dropped in your own words "which ED moved on to using." in other words they choose to do so, so of course it was FD's fault. If I promise to buy beans at the store and then don't whose fault is it?

This thread shouldn't have existed in the first place.. not "needs to die".
I think it's time Frontier is investigated for false-advertising and misleading the consumer, considering they say "not at launch", then a CM states "no further development for VR is planned". You (as a collective group) are either telling the truth, or you are lying (thus misleading the consumer).
False-advertising / misleading the consumer is a violation of the law in multiple countries.

That's not a good thing to do, and it's extremely unprofessional.

Fix your studio, David.
This is precisely what it is. Well put.

Understandable, CMDR Cocken. I surely wouldn't expect full VR support for on foot gameplay to be introduced until at least 2022, at the earliest. I do hope FDEV will consider listing full VR support for on foot gameplay on a road map for 2022 or 2023. EDH is one of the greatest VR experiences in existence, it would be a tremendous shame if FDEV didn't carry that exceptional experience into full VR on foot gameplay for ED Odyssey. o7
When FDev has something on their road map, it usually takes forever. For example, during Kickstarter, they showed advanced damage models of the anaconda and talked about how ship damage might look. This is still only implemented on that one ship. After how many years on their agenda? And you honestly think, you´ll get VR support in 2023 if they claim it´s not even something they are planing to do? Sorry to break it to you, but... from what we´ve seen ever since players could get their hands on the game in 2014, this is NOT going to happen.

This might help you understand their messages better:
What they say
What it means
"We will do it.""This might take another 3-4 years until we talk about a release date which gets postponed at least twice, because we say we want it to be perfect on release. Then, we make a paid public beta, though not everybody who paid for it, gets access. Then we hardly fix any bugs and release it in a half-finished state."
"We might do it.""Not going to happen"
"No current plans, but maybe in the future.""Boy, we are SO not doing that!"

After thinking about this for a while I came to this conclusion. I don't like and will not play the space legs and PvP stuff. So as long as FD leaves the VR stuff as is I am good to go. My problem will come with their next paid expansion if it does not have VR I simply won't buy it and either move on or just continue to play Ody as is. If at some point they dump VR entirely they will get dumped entirely.

I just had my application for a refund denied by Frontier: they said I have played too much, and that their post on the subject had been clear: “We understand that VR is a big part of Elite Dangerous and is a feature that holds a dedicated and passionate community. However, we do strongly believe that VR should only be enabled for on foot gameplay when we have an experience that truly matches the same quality bar that we set for cockpits”

That to me implies that VR on foot was still planned, whereas now they are saying it is not.
Frontier!!!!!!
"when" = more than implied

There's a simple response to the poor VR support in the game. Given that Odyssey's mediocre VR performance is eventually going to be implemented in the base game update, and that the lack of VR support fundamentally removes any desire I have to play the game, I've changed my previously glowing steam review to reflect my frustration. I'd suggest others in the VR camp do likewise.

FDev is making business decisions, and if their number one store page is filled with legitimate negative reviews, trust me, they'll respond.

I understand them throwing everything they got at getting the console stuff online right now but I kind of think after that they need to get on with the VR stuff. When you do get to the space legs VR there is a lot FD could learn from "No Man's Sky " and "Half Life Alyx"

Jesus Christ, I am so glad that when I came here to make this point, you already had.

I get the disappointment. I am disappointed too. I am a Lifetime Expansion Pass holder, a kickstarter and a 1984'er. I use VR, I wanted Odyssey to be VR compatible. But sometimes, I feel like it is like listening to a load of lovesick teenagers begging for a girlfriend to take them back. "You promised.", "You lied." blah blah blah. It just sounds so pathetically teenage. Come one..!

We want VR for every aspect of ED, obviously. Only an idiot wouldn't. The fact FD haven't included it from the start is bizarre. I'm not a developer, I can't understand the complexity. I assumed the complexity was down to incorporating VR controllers, which I don't care about in the least. It clearly isn't as there is no need to make the on-foot game VR controller compatible inho, I only care about the visuals...

HOWEVER, VR in Odyssey was never 'promised', we assumed (which makes an of u and me). Let's hope they care how important VR is to the tiny minority of us who use it and incorporate it in the future. ED is a VR users dream, it's a terrible shame to see Odyssey 'hamstrung' in this way, but there's a lot more work to be done before they'll consider it, so keep making your voices heard in a mature and consistent way and maybe we will see our wishes granted in the future. Calm, mature pressure helps us all to stay enthused and reasonable, enjoying the game as it grows, while we keep throttling FD and telling them we want VR across the board. Otherwise, bye Felicia.
I might argue that you missed a VERY important (to me in nobody else), step...
"You promised.", "You lied."
"You promised.",*you took my cash, "You lied."

“We understand that VR is a big part of Elite Dangerous and is a feature that holds a dedicated and passionate community. However, we do strongly believe that VR should only be enabled for on foot gameplay !WHEN! we have an experience that truly matches the same quality bar that we set for cockpits”

But is it? FDs stance has not changed since EDO was announced and FD said 'no full VR' (unless I missed a dev post that suggested otherwise).

Unless the core game is fully realised then all the VR in the world won't hide a shallow game that continues to be shallow.
You've probably spotted me popping this in replies here and there but I'll play safe and drop it here too:

not maybe, nor possibly, or even if ...WHEN

Yep, FDEV Weasle words for not happening.

It’s like when when you’re a kid and your parents say “we’ll see”. Doesn’t take long to work out that means NO but they don’t want you to throw a tantrum.

Well, glad I didn't buy Odyssey. And I also want to say that plenty of us called this quite a long time ago. And...I guarantee they knew this the whole time, they just didn't want to affect sales. Considering the current state of the expansion they knew they wouldn't be touching VR at all since the expansion was no where near being complete or ready to launch. They just had to get something out the door.

I bought it because I was impressed with Horizons/VR. I am going to step away from E : D for a while and check back in a year or so just to see if they pulled it together. I'm done with it for now.

Well Well Well, no further development of VR? I don't even like playing the game without VR. So here is the deal FDev. there will be no further development of cash from my wallet for future ED paid updates. I don't even like your on foot stuff so as long as what is currently offered remains in VR I'll play it But you have got your last dime from me if future stuff does not have it.
ED was built from the ground up for VR...yeah. b-bye FDEV.

I understand that it might not be what you want to hear, but it is definitely the truth. I can't give you a definitive answer if VR will be developed further on or not, because that is the answer. At the moment it's not planned. It may be in the future. It may not. Not everything is set in stone.
Okay, that makes sense, thank you for giving what information you can. Please let the Devs know, we really, really want VR. Specifically, in the short term, we want a commitment to eventually doing VR. That way we can rest easy that, even if it's in the future, eventually all areas of the game will have VR enabled once more.
