What semi-aquatic animals do you think Frontier should prioritize if they add more?

I would love to see the American alligator, capybara and California sea lion be included - many of the posts above have made good points about why they should be included. There are a few other species I would appreciate that deviate from these more desired species:

The fishing cat is probably the most aquatic of all felines and is capable of diving and swimming underwater; they would be my preferred representation for an Asian freshwater diving mammal as it would add a small cat (so far a group unrepresented in the game) that is also widely kept in captivity and also has a strong conservation need.

A species of cormorant - undecided between either the great cormorant (the most widespread species) or the white-breasted cormorant (found only in Africa, but has been kept with African penguins in zoos and would have an interspecies bonus with them); they seem like the best option for a non-penguin diving bird because of their size.

Another aquatic herptile - either the pig nosed turtle (a unique freshwater turtle from Oceania with flippers instead of feet that is correspondingly more active than most freshwater turtles) or the Chinese giant salamander (a Critically Endangered salamander about the same size as a Cuvier's dwarf caiman but nearly four times as massive, weighing more on average than a clouded leopard) would be my top choices for this.

Finally, for a bit of fun (not entirely a serious suggestion), how about the Turopolje pig - a very rare breed of domestic pig from Croatia that is unique among pigs in foraging by diving underwater in order to collect the roots of water lilies and freshwater mussels. A wildlife park in Germany that displays this breed does so with an extensive pond.

I vote for the CA sea lion and the CA sea otter. Asian small clawed otter is also common in zoos, and given the shortage of European species, the european river otter is another possibility. Also, beaver perhaps. They're actually rather cool rodents that are often overlooked. And I'll admit to a weakness for harbor seals. They are such little blobs of perfect fatness with large, dark eyes.

Capybara also, the king of rodents. Though they seem logical for a second south America pack, if one ever came.

  • Waterbuck [Least Concern] (It defends itself from its predators by entering the water)

  • Wild water buffalo [Endangered] (Its estimated population is 3,400 individuals. Scientists have started recommending the use of feral water buffalo to control uncontrolled plant growth in areas near wetlands)

I’m only doing Semi aquatic cause I’d be here all day with fully aquatic like the manatee. The manatee is definitely top of my lists though. Also leaving off mainly terrestrial semi aquatic animals like the capybara

Sea Lion
Walrus
Sea Otter
Platypus
Beaver
Alligator
Sea Turtle
Puffin (I think it could work semi well without aviary mechanics)

Honorable mention to Elephant Seal, Marine Iguana and Leopard Seal but I wanted to be more diverse with my list. It hurts leaving the Marine Iguana off

If I had to say one that’s a priority I’d go with Sea Turtles for me because it would be very cool and unique to see one in the game

Platypus would be really cool. They are uncommon in zoos outside Australia, though. The San Diego zoo is the only one I know of in the US that has them. Still, we are very short on the unique fauna of Australia.

Hope there are more animal packs in the future for this game.
Don't give up hope. We got the proboscis monkey, after all. And a few other species not common in zoos. There's a thread somewhere talking about it

I’d love the platypus but only if they reduce the requirement for diving. 4m would just be stupid.

I've really warmed up to the idea of the platypus. For a while I didn't think they'd get added due to their small size and because of their near-complete nonexistence outside of Australian zoos. But even from just the past few DLCs, meerkats have shown that point 1 is a nonissue and proboscis monkeys have done the same for point 2 (not to mention rare zoo animals from the base game such as the pangolin and Himalayan brown bear). So now I'm in the camp that thinks they're iconic and popular enough that they really ought to get their chance if an opportunity presents itself (and the diving depth gets lowered).

Manatees I just don't see period. They'd require an awful lot of additional programming that would probably never get to get used again, which feels like too much of an investment for what seems like only a moderately popular species.
I don’t think it would be that hard. Modders have been able to make fully aquatic species work pretty well. Frontier could definitely do it better.

Great list but you gotta have the manatee too! 👍
