Her channel is awesome, I've really been enjoying it, I highly recommend it in fact.

I’ve liked both her AX based stuff and her stuff getting aquatinted in SC. Frankly the hostility shown and the ranting on and on over some other platform doing it some other way is a bit weird. I’ve played with a number of people that have put in less than $100 flying any of the newer ships. Its choice if you want to buy or not. Good grief.

It's fine if you are cool with it, but if so you should never criticize the likes of EA. The massive and never before seen p2w approach and the insane changing of the user agreements (literally taking away rights users paid for) is deeply anti-consumerism. Feel free to embrace it if you want, but it's fundamentally immoral.

Actually I certainly can criticize EA. At no time in SC am I required to pay money to keep playing or get access to basic services in the ‘game’. I don’t need to buy RNG loot boxes to equip the ships or my character and credits are not as easy as ED but not at all hard to come by. I can start with nothing and crew other ships or take delivery missions to get a boot strap. I don’t know why you lump being able to purchase a hull in as exactly the same thing as EA constant micro transactions.

Im afraid I do not see the purchase of game license coming with a game asset as ‘immorality’ so we’re not going to come to agreement there.

Come back to me next year, when you realize what most of us, and her, already know. :)

Enjoy the Star Citizen honeymoon! Don't spend anything despite 'fully buying into the innovative vision of CIG' you can thank me later. ;)
And what a wonderful Honeymoon it is, what can I say I'm in love....

The total failure of EDO is one of the best things that's happened to me because it made me buy Star Citizen, I've been having a blast, exploring the verse which at the moment is an inch wide but a mile deep. There is so much to do, it ticks every box for me and runs better than Odyssey on my PC. I've totally bought in to the vision of Cloud Imperium Games, it's breathtakingly interesting, innovative and beautiful.
The vision has a lot of interesting history to it too

In EA's games all things can be earned through gameplay, yet EA is bad.

In CIG's alpha most things can be earned through gameplay, yet CIG is good.

Both use Pay2Win mechanics.

Interesting.

Let me know when you've purchased your Javelin just by playing the game rather than spending literally hundreds or thousands of $$$.

Its the most blatant and insane form of p2w. You may like it, but please don't pretend it's not. Add to it entire game loops are locked behind specific ships costing hundreds of dollars and it's weird to brush it under the carpet and hope people dont see it.

Btw,I think it's less immoral to sell a €4 lootbox that the player instantly receives than a $400 ship that still doesn't exist years after selling it. But that too could be just me. :)

What exactrly does one 'win' in CiG's alpha.

?
😂

If you want literal "winning in SC" examples (which are unnecessary for Pay2Win anyway) here you go:
  • Two players of equal skill and time, but one paid for a better ship while the other has to earn it in-game. The one with the better ship dominates their fights during the interim. Win.
  • CIG plan to implement territory control via land-claims (and station control if that plan is still happening). Players who already bought base building ships and land claims will grab prime locations, while others are busy earning the equipment to do so. Win.
  • Orgs with the most resources and playtime available (paying money skips time after all) will dominate the territory control game. Win.
  • Game goes live with 5 or so Star Systems. Players who bought the best exploration ships can scan and explore those systems immediately, getting their names on discoveries, while others are busy earning the equipment to do so. Win.

Out of interest, what makes it a mile deep to you?
