Thank you, David.

This is awesome news and I am very sure you have made many people happy knowing that you are still committed to the ED project.

To all the staff at F Dev, we love you all even when we moan, it is due to our passion for ED and we know you are all working hard.

Stay safe and thanks heaps, Merango.

What about the extreme grind? its extremely frustrating having to spend a rediculous amount of hours grinding just one suite.

I don't understand the need to upgrade everything quickly. For example, I've fought in 79 high intensity CZs and won 76 of them, and I've yet to engineer anything. I'm not a 20-year-old with lightning reactions either, I'm 53.

I just buy G2 or G3 suits and weapons when I see them, and recently I upgraded two weapons to G4 - but I haven't done a CZ since.

I noticed on Inara that I have enough stuff to engineer some mods now, but I haven't bothered unlocking the engineers so that can wait too.

I just play the game, do the missions, have fun and gather the more valuable mats and data as I come across them. If I see something cropping up all the time I stop collecting it.

The game isn't to have G5 everything, it's actually to do the bits you enjoy and not the bits you don't.

Ah yes, the "I dont agree with your point so Im going to say it's invalid" garbage. Also, before you get on your soap-box, I play ED on console and PC. The PC community is exponentially greater in terms of numbers. Just a fact

It's a self-fulfilling prophecy though. Frontier have invested nothing significant in consoles since the PS4 launch. According to their support website they're still "investigating PSVR". Meanwhile Odyssey is facing it's 3rd delay in a row and will be releasing over a year behind schedule... if it ever releases at all. There are no plans for Cross Play. Frontier don't see the point of implementing KBM support for console players. None of the CM team even own a PlayStation. Frontier have confirmed multiple times that they have 0 plans for the PS5 or XBox Series X.

Is it really any wonder that the console player-base is smaller then, when the company that develop the game are so blinkered and their development is so skewed towards PC on a long term basis?

It means that we will see more game updates over the coming months. We will continue to work through Issue Tracker, fix bugs and improve performance, but we will also be able to explore and add additional features, content and improvements into the game.

We will continue to give open monthly development updates where we discuss WIP content, challenges, the issue tracker and more. We know that the previous levels of detail for the roadmap and developer update have not met expectations, but we are grateful for your patience while we shift and adjust plans, in the face of such clear feedback.
Well I would take the opportunity to ask some little things that I think were not clearly discussed.

What about the merge between Odyssey and Horizons?

Will we ever see better missions for Horizons too? This has been asked by the community for a long time.

Will the BGS be rebalanced?

Is Powerplay even at the far bottom end of the list of the "things-to-do"?

And in general: will the old, unbalanced features from good ol' Elite be tweaked or we should just expect new stuff added here and there that would only aggravate the main issue in Elite Dangerous as a game?

o7 Commanders.

Thanks for the message Mr Braben, I can only hope that things will get better and that the potential of the game is realised in the fullness of time
However your message does read like the polite summary of a meeting of senior Fdev managers and yourself (hopefully no chairs were thrown)
The only things I could ask for once the bugs have been worked through is that the bugs are put into the game to give us the thargoid-human ground war we've all been dreaming about since the discovery of the first alien probes 4 years ago.

and hats Arx for hats is needed.. even seen how much money valve made from selling hats for team fortress...

"An old timer player since '84"

Ps also Kerbal bobbleheads..... I'll definetly give you money for those.....

Greetings Commanders.

With the release of Update 5 on 1st July plus a few smaller server updates since, and Update 6 currently in development, I wanted to take a moment of your time to talk about the next steps for Elite Dangerous.

We are aware and fully accept the frustration that many of our players have had with their experience of Elite Dangerous Odyssey. The community have spoken, we have heard the feedback clearly and we will act on that feedback.

As you may remember in our recent development article, the significant amount of updates and development effort that has been done to fix and improve issues since the launch of Odyssey has meant work on our console release has not progressed as quickly as we had hoped. What’s more, we can see that the strides we have made through the last five major updates are positive, but we must continue on with this progress to give the experience that you and we expect on PC.

With those things in mind, we have spent a lot of time discussing and re-evaluating our previous plans and we have made the decision to prioritise the core PC experience for Elite Dangerous. Ultimately, we believe it is right to focus our efforts on the core Elite Dangerous Odyssey experience for the platforms that we have released on, before opening up to more. We know that the work that we do to improve players’ experiences of Elite Dangerous Odyssey on PC will benefit other platforms in the future, but the dates and details of the console platforms are going to change. We do not want to rush into confirming any dates or changes this has on our console release, as we must remain fully focused on the core Elite experience. Only when we feel that the foundation of the PC release is solid, will we be able to re-lay our console roadmap on top.

Elite Dangerous Odyssey is an important step on a complicated journey, and we must get this right, before we can consider moving on to these new platforms.

So what does this actually mean for Elite Dangerous and Elite Dangerous Odyssey?

It means that we will see more game updates over the coming months. We will continue to work through Issue Tracker, fix bugs and improve performance, but we will also be able to explore and add additional features, content and improvements into the game.

We will continue to give open monthly development updates where we discuss WIP content, challenges, the issue tracker and more. We know that the previous levels of detail for the roadmap and developer update have not met expectations, but we are grateful for your patience while we shift and adjust plans, in the face of such clear feedback.

Please remember that our team here at Frontier are working hard to support the game and our community. Behind every bug fix, design decision and community post is a person who cares a lot about giving our players best possible experience. I would ask that everyone remains calm and respectful when sharing their thoughts and feedback.

We all have the same goal and we will get there, together. Please bear with us.

o7 Commanders.
I have to provide some constructive feedback here because I am a true fan of the Elite experience and still have faith Frontier can turn this around.

These were also your words 9+ years ago:

Since then the player base has seen little of this video or other elements of Elite accomplished or even prioritized, I think that is why this problem currently exists. A majority of your players feel like they were lied to, or baited and switched into purchasing Odyssey.

If your teams are actually going to focus on "fixing" the experience and overall future of Elite for PC players... the answer in this fix is actually listening and working with the community of existing players and incrementally expanding to new player segments. If you don't actually start listening to the players again, you are going to have a serious attrition problem on your hands. I rather enjoy Elite a lot and don't want it to die, so please listen to your player community this time.

(edit was a correction of 8 years ago to 9+ years ago on the youtube video)

Because people have lost faith in Frontier's ability to perform these fixes. Frontier's track record and the state of Odyssey is not encouraging. It's not hard to imagine that console support may be going the way of Mac support.
Eventually the fronts might just say "you know, we decided to stop developing the elite on the concholes" and everything would stay the way it is now. except maybe the news on the galnet would be updated.
Or maybe they'll stop supporting the game on consoles and give customers their money back.
Or maybe they won't.

Reasonable sucks for us and the development team really a leadership re-evaluation is sorely needed someone pulled the trigger on the shipment. Someone needs to wakeup and realize playing it safe is not going to work anymore. Fixes alone will not right this ship only real heaps of content will stuff that may make the narrative teams life harder. We need major player factions, stations, ground facilities. The ability to expand out into the stars . Alien life that is not an angry pinwheel. There is so much lore and pre existing assets that could be made into high impact low cost content. Run with it or live on the life support of the successful frontier games :p . The content creators have abandoned elite because the views are not there you have to shake things up or this will just be bailing water slower than it is rising. The community says all this not from hate but from passion and it's hard to watch this game struggle.

I wonder if they have faith in their own product.

As a console player I'm constantly told I wouldn't want the game in its current state but I say that I absolutely WOULD rather have it than have nothing. How about release it to console and let US make the choice whether to buy it or wait, we've lived with bugs since its release on console and none of them have halted my enjoyment of the game
The problem is there's no way it could run on ps4/xbone until they improve it A LOT on pc

I wonder if they have faith in their own product.

You do know that FD have developed more games than just ED?

From a technical stand point, it's mainly that you design and implement mechanics and assets first, then work to fit them into the allowable resources. Basically, PCs are the dev kits for the modern consoles, with the same major players even; AMD make the chips for Sony and Microsoft consoles, and Nvidia make the one in Nintendo consoles. The consoles are, as you say, stable; they're stable at what was a low budget option several years ago. Also, I'm not sure how "appeased" you think we are at looking at a broken mess that should barely be in beta. As of today, at least there's a plan to do anything about it.

In short, anything that would run acceptably on consoles would already run silky smooth on nearly all PCs. I started Odyssey again to test one settlement today, and the first impression was it tanking to under 20fps on a planet with nothing there. Using a top tier GPU, and high performance RAM and CPU (albeit almost as old as a console). It went back to halfway acceptable levels after I went into supercruise, but these rough spots shouldn't be around.

After that, you have the business costs. It costs nearly nothing to launch an update on PC. On consoles, every update costs extra, specifically to discourage the launch of broken messes, but also because why not (controlled greed platforms). Guess which platform gets the experiments?
There we go, thank you, a reasonable answer.

So I guess us console players have nothing more to look forward to in Elite any more. I'm very sad about that since started playing the game over year ago. I love the game but today my heart was broken by today news. I still play the game but not as much as used too.
He didn't say that.
FDEV will fix the core game and then port the fixed game to the consoles.
Shows that FDEV learned with Odyssey launch. It's better delay and release something good, that release an unfinished product and try to fix on the fly.
Right decision.
