Odyssey Going Forwards

oh well I guess this is goodbye, I don't really like to get my post deleted and marked as Harassment.

It seems I was not able to keep calm as OP asked.

Believe me if I were able to get my money back for the DLC (Epic wont let me) I would have been gone away many, many weeks ago.
I learned my leason anyways about prepurchase, never again.

As a console player I'm annoyed that we have to wait longer but if the wait means it'll be playable upon release I will gladly wait, I've only just replaced my broken ps4 after almost a year without playing only to find my hotas is dead so need to relearn the ds4 anyway so just gives me more time. 🤣

Dude, cherry picking anonymous feedback from a disgruntled former employee is silly, even for this forums standards.

We may all be angry at FD, but their Glassdoor aggregate score is perfectly fine. No need to create fake drama because you are upset at how fast a dlc for a computer game is being fixed.
"times change" (c)
What he described overlaps perfectly with what is happening to the elite, in my opinion.
how else can you explain their very poor odyssey run?
how else can you explain their honest admission that there is no odyssey roadmap at all?
those questions were rhetorical.
I understand if the odyssey had been very good and lived up to the players' expectations (if they had ever dared to say anything about the odyssey before it was launched, it would have been awesome). you could say "ok, it's just some anonymous guy" (easy to spot him by his position, but okay). but...I'm afraid not.

He didn't say that.
FDEV will fix the core game and then port the fixed game to the consoles.
Shows that FDEV learned with Odyssey launch. It's better delay and release something good, that release an unfinished product and try to fix on the fly.
Right decision.
They will probably never release Odyssey on consoles. Yes, they say now that they will, some day, but there is no trust in Frontier anymore. What they claim now cannot be trusted. Not because they deliberately lie but because we've seen time and time again that they're unable to keep to their own plans. They simply can't get this together in a way to make it feasible on consoles. They don't even plans for PS5 and Series X|S support, yet it's clear Odyssey will never be in a state where it could run on PS4 and Xbox One (and via compatible mode on the new machines). Therefore console versions will probably never exist in the first place.

I have trust in Mr. Braben and that right now it is the plan. But in practice, I don't have trust that the developers at Frontier will really do it. "Fixing" Odyssey on PC will probably take years and years, not to mention "new add-ons" and "new content" which will only ever add to the development time. Therefore consoles will never be put back on the roadmap. And after player numbers are dwindling they will not even have to be.

The wait rather means console players will leave Elite and this update eventually never arrives on consoles.

That are some important and good words from Mr. Braben. I hope there will be the announced change but we will see in the next weeks if the team hold his words or not.
You know southgate also trust in his team and then... you know the end.

Thanks David, IMHO a great decision to continue with fixes to the core game first. Some console players will be disappointed initially but in the bigger picture it will be more beneficial for them as well.

Please, if you focus on the pc version, give us an option to play on pc with our console accounts. I understand the decision, but having started on Xbox, in my case, and wanting to enjoy the game a little more with, for example, better joysticks, or being in the version that has the most support, we do not want to start from scratch, I want to have the progress of hundreds of hours when I make the change.

Thanks

Missed this announcement going live because I was playing Odyssey at the time. Mostly ship-based stuff but I was in my Maverick suit for a few minutes.

As long as Odyssey is playable (Odyssey is currently a net downgrade to the ship-based game, but it is playable) and I'm having fun I'll continue to play it. Not cutting off my nose to spite David Braben's face. True, I won't be doing much if any of the on-foot grind for a while, but I'll get out of my ship when I feel it's called for.

As for the announcement - whatever. The rule for Frontier going forward is "by their works shall ye know them".

Glad I'm not a console player. Though if I were I'd probably have one of the new-gen consoles by the time a console version of Odyssey is released. Draw your own conclusions about that.
