Posting bugs from PTU, where bugs are most certainly expected, is kind of silly.

I guess it isn't as bad as posting the bugs from evocoti though.....
To be fair I think there is no redeeming qualities here at all, PTU or whatever, doesn’t matter. For a game project that has been 9+ years in alpha, abusively monetized, and it still has a fair number of years more to go there at the very least (assuming it doesn’t outright cave before “release”) there is no excuse. All bugs are worth pointing out and laughing at. Repeatedly if necessary given the enormous time span. I d argue that even more so than laughing at a released game bugs. Released game bugs and issues at least are swiftly responded to without any mercy via game reviews and press critiques. A game that has the dubious record of one of the longest alphas in history, but at the same time is wildly monetized as a released product, does not seem to have that same luxury though. People laughing at those bugs and issues is the only defense mechanism left for consumers or any other onlookers. Trying to silence those in any way is a bit shameful tbh.

It's the end of an era here. I think my time has come.

Aww my dear LittleAnt - it's not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.

Please stay and enjoy the chortles as CI-G embarks on this new chapter. I bet real money that their proven and unwavering current stellar performance in delivering zero products continues for another decade at least!

I think you're misinterpreting his inside knowledge!

It's the end of an era here (for the naysayers). I think my time has come (I will reign in the glorious and righteous light of the Dread Coder Roberts! 90 Days Tops!).

To surmise he's been in some way pushed out of Star Citizen is not that far fetched to me, we know of one investor who put $65 Million into the franchise, that's go to have bought him a 20%+ stake at the time.

It was only a 10% stake at the time, still leaving Chris with a very comfortable majority stake. (See Confirmation statement made on 24 September 2018).

That probably raised to 15% with the further investment, but they still only hold one seat on the board of 6 (currently Marc Nitsche).

On the face of it the CIG founders are still sitting pretty really, aside from the general reliance on the Calders cash to keep operating at this scale.

One thing that could throw a cat amongst the pigeons though, on that score, is if Chris were to find his personal share count reduced for any reason… (With those shares being sold to the Calders, or equivalent…)

What about another member of the Roberts Trust, as an exit strategy? Like trading assets between "friends."

Thanks yes, I had seen that. Seems simple right!

Throttle to throttle forward, invert the throttle forward joystick number...piece of cake!

Except it doesn't work... 😏

I've had a reply from CIG Support about the duplicate ships in my account. They are recommending that I perform a character reset!

Thankfully, I've got very little progress in the game to lose (aka rep etc). I'll see if it fixes the issues with my account and hopefully it will fix my hotas issues too! 😉 I don't really trust that I won't lose the credits that Mole and Intrepid3D have given me in the process so I'll transfer them back to Mole for safe keeping, 😀🍪

I can't really offer any better advice than has already been given above. Don't equate SC with ED is all I'll add, both are very different experiences in a gameplay sense. SC is very limited with few working or complete gameplay loops but can still be rewarding despite that. Mining is my particular thing, but I dabble in most things as and when the mood takes me. Star Citizen is also less solo player focused, it's way more engaging when played with others...even randoms from the live in game chat, there are always new guys looking to expand their experiences through teaming up with other players, new or not.

The longer term players will usually offer help in many forms...trying out ships, suggesting workarounds for common bugs, gifting credits to get you started or just flying along with you in your ship or theirs to share bounties, complete delivery missions or try out mining...anything. If you have any questions or encounter issues...just ask in the chat, it's very socially oriented compared to ED, especially through the live global chat. It has a very small play area comprising of only one system although there's still a fair bit to see and do.

Most of the gameplay is beset by interminable bugs, server instability and server/client desync...which has gone on for several patches now and getting worse rather than improving. This, more than anything else, will dictate what your experience will be like...

It's...different. Many of us like what Star Citizen has to offer with some of the things you mentioned, some don't. I like both games for very different reasons...that's OK too :)
I like your summary Mole 🍪😋
I think any game has to be taken on its own merits, especially one in Alpha.
All of the current crop of space sims have their own USP... I'm very much aligned with Mohenjo's game play style, so of the current activities available in SC, mining appeals the most to me too.
Lastly, I'd add that I very much doubt SC will become a 'full game' and launched as such, until CR is ready to retire...
So, I'm no worse off staying with Elite. The question is whether I'd be better off with Star Citizen.

I just don't know.
I'd say it's not about whether you would be better off, but whether SC offers enough of the things you like to be worth the £40 or so to pledge and get a starter pack.
As a new SC player myself, I can only say that it's a nice and helpful community.

If you just have duplicate ships in the ship terminal, you are better of just living with it. They don't really hurt anything, other than making it more difficult figuring out which ship is the "one" good ship you can spawn. I think I've gotten up to 10 phantom unspawnable duplicate ships.

Doing a character reset almost always works, so if you've done it, odds are you will be fine. But that is one way to lose stuff. One of those bugs you "deal" with if you have been playing for a while.

Save the character reset as a last resort. Like me tonight, when I spawned without a head in PTU. No choice at that point but to do a reset.

And if you've already done it, hopefully you still have all your stuff.

(and my PTU reset worked fine, still had all my stuff)
