Odyssey Going Forwards

Dunno, I will have to ask the Content Creators. It has been the Final Ultimate Make Or Break Week For Elite Dangerous for a few months now. If you want to know if it's still the case just hit Like & Subscribe, and dont forget to hit the bell to hear the latest first!
Content Creators is such a strong word akin more to developers. Influencers is what they truly are. Just look at New World on Twitch, they are like vulters devouring their new prey while hunting in packs. Meanwhile New World maintaine their top seller rank on Steam.

This is why Frontier needs them too. Steam Reviews are not going to change, but the Influencers can earn them some money via their influence on consumers, when the DLC is ready to be resold on a Steam sale.

No, this is the week of a dev update post about Update 6 bugfixes (we always ask patchnotes sooner afterall)
Yea Update 6 Reveal post. I wonder if they will give CM some talking points this time, or will it be just - read the post and try not to promise a holy grail for the remainig of the stream.
Or is it going to be on Friday evening, so they don't have to mention it at all until next Tuesday. A Dodge tactic.

This is the last week for me, if they don't deliver satisfactory Road Map i am out. No more wasting time on this forum, waiting for something that might never come...
Well, there are no plans for a roadmap at all, we even wonder if they pull the same stunt with dev update 2 like they did with dev update 1, so...

My understanding is you can’t have anymore than 30 people in an instance
The record is at least 100 in deep space and 75ish on a Horizons planet surface. So long as the first player into the instance has a top quality connection, you can get by with a few of the others having fairly bad ones (though the ones with bad connections or potato PCs will crash out if you try to do anything more exciting than sit around and chat)

Yeah that mostly makes sense, although it would require an awfully consistent churn rate to work out.
Strangely, I think they did - people were constantly complaining of no-one they knew ever playing any more during Horizons, but aggregate public measures of player activity (traffic, squadron, etc.) were stable or slightly positive throughout.

Thing is, they did just release an expansion which I assume they want to sell, so it’s not like keeping existing players happy (or winning back jaded players) is such a bad idea.
Yes - their quoted-to-market aim was to sell 1 million copies of Odyssey in the first year, which would very roughly have been all their regular and semi-regular players, plus another 500k new/occasional/returning players.

Wouldn't have been impossible, if the launch had gone well and they hadn't had to delay console release indefinitely, but I'd be very surprised if they get there now.

So when is the next big patch?

Maybe by the end of 2022 if they fix all the issues, performance, do improvements and add more content.

I'll let you into a secret - if you're expecting a full-scale roadmap of some kind you might as well just go now because that's not what was said is coming, nor is it what anybody could reasonably expect from the information we have been given.

The Elite community: setting itself up for disappointment since 2015.

I bet the uncommon thing that can happen once in a lifetime for a developer (unless whiny entitled gamers forbid... not) has a tiny weenie smallish effect on FDEV's productivity: summer holidays (well deserved after the horrible last months for them).

Gosh, like many of the recent rage threads and posts around here, I almost just need to post "jim_carrey_oh_come_on.gif"

There isn't even the community schedule for this week up yet, and the workday is almost over. Things could be kinda crazy in Cambridge right now due to Covid though.

Zac normally does them, but he's on hols this week. And as LKx said, it's a bit early yet. Seems to be the (usual) community theme eh - ask for stuff before it's due :)

From a management point of view, a successful launch of JWE 2 is crucial. I am willing to bet my hundreds of g5 engineered modules that a majority of the best assets of FDev are doing dinos.

In other words, I am speculating that meaningful viable roadmaps for Elite aren't going to happen until after JWE 2 launches. Fdev needs to get a better handle and understanding of the Elite code before true progress can be achieved. That takes time and very experienced people. Right now, those people are probably putting out dino fires.

Well, i'm a bit tired of wondering if they consider ED a secondary product!
