Modes Odyssey The Start of a New Mediocre Loop: The New Hotel California.

It is a bit off-topic, but I'm curious: based on what do you think so?
Lots of people complain about too much grind in the game.
There are 2-3 ways to shorten it.
FDev does away with these possibilities with high priority.
This is how you make yourself popular.

Sorry OP, that version of Elite is not for me. I get to play about an hour a day - certainly not interested in chasing my ship around for that time.
I like my FC, until we have the ability to build a home, it is my home. My Fleet is onboard and I can do whichever aspect of gameplay I chose from my base of operations

The grind is excessive, Vanilla Engineering was goofy enough, but they kinda fixed it (Made it less grindy and increased storage) but then took like fifteen steps backwards with ODY engineering. To my mind, this makes no sense. I think that they should make it a feature so that you can negotiate the mats you want from mission giver NPC's in the concourse. I think it would be an easy and rather simple fix, but then again, I know little to nothing about programming, other than that which appears to be simple isn't always as simple as it looks.

Or if you can't get ANY material, then it offers you a list of ones you can, based on what types of industry is in the system.

I think the factional war is the BGS. What is the war between the factions of a system (and in which a faction of players can participate). And the factions, in turn, are affiliated with the Powerplays.
No it's not. BGS not even have an UI in the game. Rol Playing the BGS is not an originally intended playable feature of the game, but a conquered by players one. Is Power Play the true strategic play of the game, or at least it should be.

What may be "beating a dead horse" to many of us, may be new to others who do not often frequent these forums.... i.e. most of the PvP crowd.

Despite the common disdain of our playstyle, please have the courtesy to not dismiss or discount posts.

I remember when I was first playing and started a thread asking why there were so few women playing in comparison to men. I truly wanted to know. Nevertheless the thread was closed because a moderator thought I was trolling and beating a dead horse.

I filed a report and complained expressing that I was indeed female and not trolling. I offered to prove it on discord voice comms. The thread was reopened.

:)

tl;dr allow someone who starts a Hotel California thread to have her say and respectfully counter

I had thought the concept a little odd too - it would just mean that a CQC match would end up with 2 teams of G5 engineered FDLs beating on each other, but, of course, taking forever to do so. Where the CQC ships last mere seconds before popping when they fail a dodge, which makes for very fast-paced hilarious "ship go boom" play.
No my friend, it would not take forever for fully G5 engineered teams to take each other out. There is a significant gamut of skill in fa off combat wing fighting which most Commanders have not experienced, let alone understand.

Since I am on my tablet it is hard to link vids. There are many PvP tournament videos proving my point.

CQC installations have a lot of obstacles akin to the dense asteroid fields of San Tu. In addition there are some strategies in wing fighting that upon destruction of one, fdl, the demise of that team is all but certain.

PvPers are totally impatient and bore easily. Most will not tolerate long drawn out battles. We often put shield booster limits and prohibit any synthesis or reboot in order keep matches interesting and short.

If we are ever lucky enough to have any ship in a CQC arena, most of us would also request specificity as to whether the power ups were allowed or not.

PvPers may be murder hobos on the side, but at their core there is a space bushido by which many abide.

As far as I know, people are permitted to post whatever they like here, within the bounds of what the mods will permit. And everyone is permitted to either read or disregard said posts. I see no problem here.

You're contradicting yourself in one sentence. Maybe you simply don't understand Bushido.
I used the term "a space bushido" in terms of as a type of warrior way., not specifically referring to the particular tenets of the Samurai of medieval Japan.

"Bushido" is one of those perfect words with no cognate in english. I apologize if my usage was atypical.

Yet, oddly, shun the one 'fun' game mode that provides very short battles where skill, rather than outfitting, decides the victors. I'd always been under the impressions that flying and fighting skill was the principal tenet of the flying PvP player in this game.
FA-Off flying is practised by the 'elite' CQC players very elegantly also.

For some of you that do not know, there are lawful PvPers who have never ever ganked anyone ever.
That maybe so, but I still fail to see how PvP can only be bettered by getting rid of the two non dedicated Open PvP modes. Open and CQC are there, always have been. What is this desire to force everyone to one play style? You can't honestly believe it will make things better.

Not to mention you can't exactly just take away options from established players, because someone doesn't have people to shoot at.

Also, after solo and private are gone, what next? Let's get rid off consoles, because the PC crowd can't touch the console ones, but they can still undermine them because it's the same server?

Indeed.

But many do not like flying the CQC ships and very much prefer different loadouts and ships.
The sheer power of a g5 power plant, distributor and thrusters are highly addictive.
And iirc no CQC ship has plasma accelerators.

Plasma accelerators are very interesting to use and consistently hitting humans is challenging requiring specific maneuvers combined with boost timing. Most CQC weapons are gimballed and need no such interesting mechanics.

Of course, the pip management for CQC ships is another art form and challenging, too.

CQC elites are amazing.
