the threads should read ODYSSEY going backwards.
Today I tested update 6 the game is almost ready in terms of performance, fps improved a lot, this is the way odyssey should been released. With AMD Fidelity the game is Currently very Enjoyable. Some issues with ship HUD when not using high resolution, not easy to read texts, but overall great work FD.I really miss my play sessions in elite, but I had to let it go, until it gets better. Currently unplayable.

Hardly. There's been significant improvement since launch.
i have just uninstalled odyessbuggy. because the Fps in footfall is at an all-time low. heatmap has disappeared,stations are not corrected displayed.npc under map in CZ,
Hey @David Braben and Frontier devs, i bought Odyssey cos of those atmospheres and nice daylight and lightning in Odyssey trailers.
Can you please add to the Odyssey what you advertised, i paid money for it!

Is it intended that Odyssey is only for hi end rigs? I have a radeon RX 570 8gb and I just can't get the settings on graphics to work. I would love to play Odyssey but I can't afford a 3070 graphics card. It's possible that the problem is in my settings. I can have 90 fps but heat is the big issue and the noise from graphics card fans wow! My rig works great in Horizons and fps there 145 to 160 no heat problems. So I'm a bit confused now.

Those exist.
The galaxy portrayed is semi-realistic. Not every planet has an atmosphere and not every atmosphere is blue skies.
Not to mention that the planets day-night cycles are real-time, with some days for some planets lasting literally months of earth-time.
Prior to patch 6, with my 2080ti I was getting less than 30fps in some situations on foot. At one point I was getting 6fps! (No I'm not joking). Odyssey is in beta in reality and the graphics are not optimised. But I have seen improvements.
At the moment it's playable for me, so I think as time goes on you'll find it gets a better. The bit that I'm struggling with is I don't really like first person shooters. Although it's fun for a while, I'm now wanting something else. And It seems everyone has either cleared off over to Star Citizen (which admittedly looks very awesome and FDev needs to take note), or they are taking a break. So my player group numbers are lower than normal right now. But feel free to join us if you want to help out and enjoy the company of some really nice people.

I'm not new to the game, btw what day-night cycles has to do with it if you land on "sunny" side of the planet.
Do you land on dark side and wait for daylight? Lol

Failed view hunt!Who is campaigning what is certainly debatable. Watch my latest clips from last night and tell me again how ugly the surfaces of the planets are now. Comparing with a teaser video and expect a 1:1 match is quite illusory though. I'd say they come pretty close at least:

I have the RX580 8gb and even locking fps to 60 the card is 100% on the gpu with VRAM around 75% and aprox 30% cpu usage.
Simply put Odyssey hammers most gpu as it is very poorly optimised as even high end cards are struggling.
Whatever new textures etc EDO has introduced I do not believe the Cobra engine can deal with it.

No need to save any face, maybe yours since your arguments are soo irrelevant and weak (like one you mentioned; day-night cycles lol).
I'm not emotionally involved in this game as you are, i just want what i paid for and what FD advertised.

it isn't the textures that cause the problem, it the culling of objects that the player can't see, further way ,behind, left or the right side of them. The more objects that have not been culled properly the less fps you have. it a standard game industry tactic to help make games run a lot smoother.
