Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

He says it's not fun while not having tested it. He has no clue. It's like saying throwing pointy things in a board is not fun while talking about dart-throwing or that Kobe beef is the same that regular beef.
Just try the first part of the Xeno event, managing those three types of boxes with a good team IS fun. It requires organization, coordination and a little dexterity. You can immediately distinguish the effective teams from those that are not.

Who are you talking to? Who is "he"? You quoted my post and i didn't refer to anyone else.

however, the gankers decided they'd rather explode cargo ships than having to actually to fight eachother.

Just catching up with the thread…

If there was a video definition for 'fanboy' in the dictionary, this would be the entry ;). It’s guff

Fun to catch up on his tech expectations after nearly 2 years though :)

Expectations (Oct 2019):

"It’s not 100% there yet. As I see it there are about three main things getting in the way of that vision coming together."

  • Player Count: Server Meshing, "where multiple servers work in a lattice and hand off information and simulation tasks to each other cooperatively, is still in development and something to be added in the future…"
  • AI Behaviour: "SOCS will intelligently cull and time slice aspects of simulation, so much more of it can happen at any given time. Paving the way for more detailed AI simulation." [12m20s]
  • Full Persistence: "Full on persistence tracking for item placement, or the status of all the NPCs and characters… is scheduled in the future to come out concurrently with SOCS." [13m30s]

Well we got SOCS. Shame the other stuff didn’t happen :/

But at least the chambered bullet is still visible if you peer down your gun…

Oh gods no. That's the last thing i want from ship interiors. And doubly so for how FD would implement it. Want to repair a part? Go to X and do Y and pray for the right spawn. Not sure how CIG will deal with it, i guess purchasable parts would make sense.

What i've heard about SC's planned implementation is that parts will wear out. Again, that's a big no from me. I don't want busy work repairing ship. I want to fly ships, not repair them. Docking, pressing a button to repair, that's what I want.

I'm more of the sort of person who just wants interiors for interiors sake. But FD have said they won't do that, and i fear their implementation. Which is why i'm quite happy for FD not to have it on their to-do list for the moment.

Back to SC, and time will tell.
That's fine. You enjoy playing your way and I'll enjoy playing my way.
No-one forces anyone to play anything, or indeed play in any way they don't want to.

If you like ED the way it is, then great, I like ED to.

But I also like to have the added gameplay of legs, interiors and other gameplay antics. It's just a case of, 'just each to their own'.

_____

I've landed my ship, it was a very smooth landing it has to be said..
O.k. exit my flight seat, out through the automatic doors of the forward bridge, down the passageway to the stairs then down a deck or so, to my cabin to sleep.

Wake up (8 game hrs later) it's gone dark and is raining, I go to the mess hall and eat/drink, then check on the farm area, I'm growing some rather exotic food. All seems o.k. there, so I have a few minor repairs that have been waiting quite a while and some jumps ago. I may have to go out of the ship via my very nice ramp, having passed through my very nice airlock, into the woods just near where I landed and get some resources to complete certain tasks. I landed near the woods for that reason.

Not looking forward to this trip..

It's dangerous out there and I'll need to be equiped for the trip out.
Anyway, before all that, I'll check that the fuel is topped up and the oxygen levels in the ship are maintained, got to keep the crew alive, to be honest they don't do much, but they're company. Fuel burns as you sleep, as does the oxygen reduce, as you breath.
Everything is topped up and o.k., time to get out and find some of the things I need to do some minor repairs and maybe get some more plants/seads for food while I'm out there.

Equipped and ready to go,Through the airlock and down the auto ramp onto the planet surface. It's a breathable planet so that helps. I cautiously walk out from under my rather big ship ;) (not bragging). The rain is falling hard and the wind is blowing, there are howling sounds, it's feels very errie all round.

Suddenly whoosh.... a ship passes very low to ground, it gave me a scare thats for sure, not for how low the ship was flying or speed, but the fact it didn't have any doors or exit ramp etc. I suddenly realised it was Agonyaunt in his ship, he gave me a wave from the cockpit window (at least he has a window), however he didn't look well, I think he needs to get out more. ;)

Iirc that Spectrum poster has given CIG $25k, I'm sure they've said they were Legatus level or something.

Surprising to see salt from such a high-spender.

Is he in that deep? I'd be somewhat surprised.

And Captain Killgore is a salt generating machine. In game and on spectrum.

2014.... the Star Citizen's epic single player.

Dunno, i must have missed it. Was it any good?

Why are you hiding the names of something posted in a public forum that a good bit of the people in this thread would already have read?

I'm not. Its a sc_refunds and SA thing after some of the faithful started throwing around accusations that we were witch hunting or stalking or something. Can't really remember what it was exactly. So both sc_refunds and SA (at least in the SC thread) decided they would anonymize the names of posters and not provide direct links, just screenshots.

Maybe one of the resident goons can remember what was the actual trigger.

Sure, i was just giving my point of view. We can both have different opinions ;)

Note, i didn't say i like ED the way it is (well, more or less i do, but i'd also like to see lots of things changed as well). My concern is how FD would implement interiors based off their track record.

As i said, i'd be fine with antics with ship interiors, not random component failure or certain other busy work style mechanics. And moving boxes doesn't exactly thrill me.

PS: What is this? Some sci-fi you're writing?

LOL, i wouldn't call manual loading and unloading as adding fun. I'm all for interiors, but not for busy work. If i wanted to stack boxes, i'd work in a warehouse.

Come on LA, I was making a point in favour of SC and you damn well ruined it. :D :D :D

How many trees have you chopped down in Valheim?

Have you become a lumberjack in real life?
