Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

#$^#%$^D&FUG#^!!#@ I just donated 15 hard grinded Financial Projections to Terra and NADA! The game just took my data and she didnt do the introduction!

I AM SO ANGRY!!!

EDIT : OK, an exit to desktop and relog seems to have fixed it.... I was so close to rage smashing.....

That last 3 financial projections cost me 4 points of notoriety though... 8 hours!!!

Finally, I unlocked the Pack-Hounds. I bought 15 for future use and made my excuses and left Lembava.
I have one on each side mount on my 'Conda, which I've G5'd to High-Capacity and Oversized. The others are in storage at Eurybia.
I was expecting more heat from these, but the temp doesn't get above 50% even with overuse!
Engineering them meant I'm out of Raw Mats again, so next mission is heading out on a farming run.

When something doesn't update like that a relog is always something I do first before raging. 99.99% of the time it works and the remainder is my own stupidity :D

If the mission says you need to kill ten scavs, does it count if you missile them from your ship?
I've had mixed results with this. Sometimes they count, and sometimes they don't. And their bodies are often gone so you can't scan them for bounties.

Bounties can add up. I get 200k-400k from one "restore power" mission just on the bounties from the scavs. (It's still crap payouts compared to EDH).

So it's "Hit or Miss" lol.

Interesting. Thanks!

Just became a Taxonomist :D

BTW, the pitch rate of unengineered Viper Mk IV is........😤 I'm sitting back in my chieftain with G3 dirty drag thrust.
I think of the MKIV as a mini-Python. It's kinda heavy and not the best at fighting but it has lots of slots and other uses that make it useful. I'm finding it to be a lot of fun for Odyssey missions.

But then, I'm not much of a dogfighter. I prefer bringing massive guns to a knife fight.

Speaking of the Viper MKIV, I spent a bit of time buffing up the engineering on mine. I had outfitted it with a mish-mash of parts from other ships, and decided it needed some TLC.

I had thrusters with Drag Drives 3 on them, for example. But they turned out to be legacy mods, from waaay back when Engineering was a brand new thing. So I had to actually go out to Palin's to convert them, and then finish upgrading them to Grade 5.

I was hoping to see Palin face-to-face, but he was nowhere to be found on foot. His base is pretty impressive, though. And he did fix up my thrusters for me.

My little Viper can boost to 516 now, even with the HRPs and MRPs and whatnot. Good enough for most escapage. I've configured the Viper more as a getaway vehicle than a fighter. It has hefty shields and strengthened armor, and now it's pretty fast. I won't have to fear ground troops very much, or interdictors.

It can jump nearly 32LY, scoops fast and stays cool, so it's dandy for blitzing around to settlements. I should dump the weapons, so it could jump even farther. I'm not likely to use them. I haven't engineered any of the weapons. I just like having them, I guess.

I like missiles on my settlement craft :D

EDIT The 4K monitor is selected: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07BVXGBHT?geniuslink=true

Now all I need to do is... you guessed it: persuade someone. And there's a slight delay on my new rig

Finally got my Night Vision mod done.... one slot left for the Maverick 5 but torn between combat speed, tool battery drain and improved battery.

Thats me on Oden's roof, thinking this game had realistic physics on simulating landing on flat surfaces...

I tried to jump up onto the glass of that Biodome in the background, made it to the flat roof part with a bit of parkour but then I realised how tall the damn tower thing is when you are in a suit.... max jump does not even reach a sixth of the height needed and there are no intermediate ledges to use.

Thanks Codger!

I've done a fair few delivery and salvage ones so that's OK but it's the fighting I'm rubbish at it seems. So... looks like I'll die a lot :D Ce la vie! Have to try sometime, right?
I would suggest if you want to learn combat do some low risk ground combat zones. Take the free dropship ride Frontline Solutions provides and start fighting. You have guys on your side to back you up and if you die you can respawn on the dropship and keep going.

My Chieftain has two SRV's for Justin.

The only thing it's built for is attacking scavs at wreck sites and the like.

Actually, that's a thought... Perhaps I should've napalmed the evacuated settlement yesterday. Would've softened 'em up s bit.

If the mission says you need to kill ten scavs, does it count if you missile them from your ship?
Yes it does. You can do the whole mission without leaving the ship.

Good advice. It's like a HAZ res situation. Let your guys soften them up then finish. You don't have to be up the front Commander!.
I work from the roof tops mostly. Oh, try to help get the alpha , bravo and other check points to completion. It gets you more credits.
Hang around a check point near resupply ammo, power and health.

Um... how do I find those zones? Sorry, such rookie....

if there are multiple war sites. The hard ones pay 300k or more, middle is 200k , low is 120k.
Look on the enlistment map. shown just below the point where you chose a side.

edit:
Oh if you land and all the npc's are not moving from their drop point. And are just shouting out..."moving up on target"
Don't relog. Just take your time and kill all then enemy npc's. They will shoot back...beware/
Activate all the beacons. Finish the battle with the win. It can be worth 12-14 mil credits. Plus the rank increase.
