Your reputation with the faction you abandoned the mission(s) with probably went down a little bit too. Fixable with successful missions.Yes, that'll be it. I've abandoned more than one mission ........ maybe 4 or 5 ......![]()

UI bindings are completely separate from, for example, "movement bindings", so most of the time you can assign the same set of keys for both. (A necessity for things like console controllers), which can really add to the confusion.Just a final chip in on the bindings...
I am pretty sure that the first column will accept an analogue control like a joystick or throttle, while the second would be used for purely digital controls such as a keypress. Could be wrong, but it's how I've always set my bindings, if a controller is analogue it goes in the first (left hand) column. I think those set in the second right column are either on or off, so no graduation supported.
I don't know how the arrow keys remained assigned when you had also assigned them to a UI function, but as Codger says, control setup in ED can be a bit flaky! So, as he suggests, if you are happy with your bindings always back them up, and don't leave the backup copy in the game folder, put it somewhere completely different.
That's a really nice touch about ED. Adds to my feeling of reality which is important to me.Your reputation with the faction you abandoned the mission(s) with probably went down a little bit too. Fixable with successful missions.
Thanks for this. I think your critical comments "happy with the (new) bindings" and "always back them up" (supporting what Codger said) are very important and I'm acting accordingly.Just a final chip in on the bindings...

75% throttle setting you will arrive at the correct speed to drop safely at the station.
I've actually dropped my setting to 50%. I get more time to get ready to drop out of supercruise. I'm even delaying it until 2 sec out, which drops me right out the door. Yes, it's takes longer when supercruising around, but I'm in no hurry. I really love just flying around enjoying the scenery. And that's a key reason why I came to ED.
This is nagging at me. I'm trying to find a suggestion I can make to help replace this loss. I can't.You're making me nostalgic. Those first few weeks in ED, when there was SO much to learn it was both overwhelming and exciting, are long past me now and I can never recapture that feeling. Even starting a new CMDR (which I do sometimes on an alt account) isn't the same. I know too much. I'm too skilled. It's still fun, but in a different way.
Odyssey has helped me a lot in that regard, because there are a bunch of new skills to learn in order to do well in the on-foot missions and exploration stuffs. So since the launch of Odyssey I've been enjoying the "newbie" experience again, and it's been exhilarating.
Savor it while you can, my friend. It's a special time.
There's no loss, not really. This is nagging at me. I'm trying to find a suggestion I can make to help replace this loss. I can't.
Maybe moving to updates, like Odyssey, is the answer, but I wonder what others are doing?
Well, that's encouraging. And of course, being selfish, I'm thinking of myself. There's no loss, not really.
I've been playing the game for over 5 years. 4000+ hours. No game can remain fresh forever, but this one has had incredible longevity for me.
I do miss being a newbie, sometimes. But I also very much enjoy what I'm doing right now.
Pffft... NoobThere's no loss, not really.

What are FPS games, and what does LEP mean ?Been playing since the end of 2014.But I agree, the game does have a good amount of longevity - obviously! It can certainly take many years to hone one's skills and that process is enjoyable, as is / was for me the building, outfitting and engineering my small fleet of ships. Those activities can provide a good amount of short term goals to generate motivation.
Unfortunately, not being at all into FPS games (and playing in VR), Odyssey which I have through the LEP doesn't really hold much interest for me and performance is poor in VR despite having a pretty potent PC, so my playtime is significantly reduced now.
But yes, @Wombat1940, discovering the game is great, and there's no reason there shouldn't be goals to keep you going for many years to come.![]()
And I think that's what will force me to buy Odyssey, driving SRV's and go "Moon walking". However, doing 'combat by choice' is definitely out! There's no loss, not really.

I'm uncertain how it shows this on the map.The Galaxy map (in the left Nav panel) on the ship can show you systems aligned to the major powers - Federation, Empire, Alliance or Independents,
FPS - Is First Person Shooter - Walking around shooting stuff. I have no problem shooting things from my ships and even the SRV, just never been into games where you're a person walking / running around shooting constantly spawning baddies. And in VR, Odyssey on foot is... Well let's just say not compelling. What are FPS games, and what does LEP mean ?
Fully agree. I find as I've got older, I hate killing anything, by simulation or in reality. That annoying fly that gets into your kitchen I used to kill. I'm now catching and releasing outside! Mind you, cockroaches? Very different story ......FPS - Is First Person Shooter - Walking around shooting stuff. Interesting. Tempting with ED ...... but not yet ...... too much still so new in ED-H.LEP - Lifetime Expansion Pack - Means I get all the updates for the life of the game, whether I want them or not.
Likewise. So Odyssey is a bit of a bust for me, but maybe something will come out going forward that I will want.![]()
Fun fact - if you wanted to visit every star in the Elite's Milky Way and you visited one star every second...And that is what is great about ED: it gives you just a small feeling about what that means
