Newcomer / Intro My Return to ED ......

Well ...... I've check at EDDB for the 6 Systems I have to visit and I think there are sufficient places to refuel so as to successfully complete the journey.
All except one stop. :(
And I'm just not sure about LFT 1300 ?
Could somebody check for me ?
Thanks.
Please see the Galaxy Map shown below for details.

From a full fuel tank, you can make at least 3 jumps before you run out of fuel. You might make a 4th, but best not to chance it. This little formula is true for your current Sidewinder. Other ship and module combinations will be different.

I didn't mention EDDB because I figured it was better to learn how to figure out which systems are populated by using the Galaxy map first. But yes, EDDB will have records on most systems in the 'bubble' (the main populated area of human space where most stuff takes place).
The problem here is the Galaxy Map is not showing me populated Systems. It's also not showing me System Maps of places NOT visited by me. Gracunha being a typical example. That's where EDDB has been useful. Maybe unreliable, but better than nothing. ;)

Not true, as I tried to point out. You can tell if a system is populated by filtering for Government type for example. No matter, you've got your course set now and you're good to go.

Yes I understand that, but it's how I'm going to do it on other trips I need to know.
I need to be able to do what you mentioned above.
Did you do the filtering on the Galaxy Map ?

Ok .......... not the Galaxy Map ....... you filtered at EDDB ....... (y)
Yes, well, I wasn't in the game at the time. And I may or may not have been to that system, so I went ahead and used EDDB.

Don't get me wrong, using third party web sites is nearly essential in this game. But I think it's also good to understand the in-game tools, that's all.

Each jump seems to vary in length ........ I would have thought that would reduce the number of jumps to maybe just two. 🤔

Hmm. I'm not sure where the 3 jump idea came from. Makes no sense to me. It would depend on the ship, how big a jump range you have, how far apart the stars are, whether you're using economical or fastest routing, and other factors. I guess it's an OK 'rule of thumb' but I would not trust it.

Assuming no cargo is carried - the unladen jump range of this ship is 7.84ly. If you jump 7.84ly you will use Max Fuel 0.6T. The Fuel Tank capacity is 2T. So you are guaranteed to make at least 3 jumps before running out of fuel. 3x0.6T = 1.8T maximum possible fuel that would have been used.
If you jump say half maximum range 3.42ly you will use a lot less than 0.3T of fuel, because the amount of fuel used rises exponentially the closer you jump to your maximum jump range.

I think Quain did say it varied between ships and besides I hope what is shown on the Galaxy Map in regard to how many jumps you can make has all those possible variables built in. If so it reinforces: "a picture is worth a 1000 words". ;)

I think you are getting bogged down in tech babble lolol.

Because you don't have a fuel scoop, the Fuel Star system will need to have a population (hence a station that will sell fuel).

All you need to do is jump to the first system, then immediately jump to the next....... etc...
Once you reach the fuel Star system, buy fuel, then continue to your destination.

However if the fuel Star system does not have a population, then buy fuel at the last previous system that does.

Ok ...... like it. But hope my reply to Codger (repeated below) holds true. Would save a lot of time.
