State of the Game

The quest was nobbled by mandatory timers (which i assume remain - I got mine started when the patch dropped) which stretched 'progress' that could be done in literally a few hours. A little while later a 'cheat' was mentioned on the steam community page which involved changing the day on PC...

I've visited a few very attractive (not-cartoonish) bodies in NMS, the good ones can be really good - now we can summon the 'vehicles' with minimum effort, undersea exploration is much easier, and a lot of fun, too.
yeah I am very fond of frozen planets, they look pretty normal - they have quite a variety as well, some are more hilly, some are more mountainous, some have a pretty brittle surface and you can find an enormous amount of caves under the surface - I really like these diverse landscapes. Irradiated and barren planet types are my next favorite ones.

As far as the exocrafts go, that mech is a pain to use - and it got me in trouble many times, getting sentinels on my back - in 1st person that mech is a real pain to maneuver. But I like hiking in real life and so I explore mainly on foot. I have 3 s-class protection upgrades for any environment, so being mainly on foot is no problem at all.

btw I'm not using any cheats or exploits - like I would never sell chlorine and buy it back immediately at a lower price - that would be exploiting a flaw in the economic system,

My s-class explorer is pretty nimble as well - no huge attachments like that you showed off - silver colored and a bit like an insect from it's looks, very maneuverable and fast, nearly 1000lys jump range, I really like it, even my exotics would be much better - but in a way those exotics are overpowered, I stick with my explorer - well, it is crap in fights, there I take my exotics.

uppity NMS players with their procedural generation and nearly infinite variety of things and content.

There's a reason why we like doing mostly nothing in Elite... a very good reason. You dont deserve to know what it is...so we wont tell you. But it's an amazing reason. The best reason.
you know if Elite would have the planetary game play of NMS, it would be perfect - it is so sad that this will never happen in Elite.

this said, I haven't tried the new settlement game play yet - and I might not for a long time to come. It seems to me that it would bind me to one location and I want to be more like a nomad, travelling through the galaxy and see what nice planets I can find there.

there is no nearly infinite variety in NMS either - fauna has certain body parts which are mixed together, but over time you have seen pretty much all at least they are very similar to what you have seen before - as well the type of the fauna and what you can harvest from feeding them is quite similar. Flora is similar to this and their variety is actually quite limited, same for mineral structures. Procedural generation doesn't create infinite variety - every planet is somewhat unique, but as well very familiar to one you've seen before.

trying to find the perfect planet with features you like to be combined is the challenge - and it is fun to land on a variety of planets and see if it has those features or not. My lovely bottom valley farm was a really nice find - ideal place for a ranch and I have 5 farms there, a really awesome deep valley with steep outskirts.

Yeah, naps usually do that for me too... but sometimes I'm just so tired...

To make things worse is that I have to take a 20 minute walk into the city very soon, and it's currently pouring with rain.

My uncle had the audacity to get Covid last week and as a result, I have to collect the shopping, medicines and all sorts. The first morning I went out I got drenched.
