State of the Game

I think Odyssey is a very cool expansion of the game that fleshes out space and I'm enjoying playing it. I also like every change since Horizons that I've been able to see. Unfortunately I haven't been able to see how planets look from having to absolutely dumpster my display and graphics settings to get frames down there. Which makes me feel like I'm playing an RPG from the 90s. I would love to say it looks great but I have no way to know. Please address the obscene performance issues or so help me, I will upload screenshots of these planets... Chunky, patchy, bland and twitching planets.

Pretty much what I saw too - I seem to remember the rolly pollys in support.
Not quite Hendrix at the isle of wight :D

This would have been in Bournemouth, at one of the show places. He came down here quite a lot, but I guess you have to check out beaches if you want to find the right people for pool parties....

(That sounds far more malicious than I meant it to be!)

So 110% ...

Lies, damn lies and marketing???
cocoa is fatty by default, that is due to it's cocoa butter content - if you try to dissolve this in milk it will most likely not do it - that is why one has to cook it if you use natural cocoa and not that powder which is stripped from most of it's cocoa butter content. A lot of the taste of cocoa is lost though, if you strip cocoa butter from the rest.

I mainly do my own chocolate ice cream because I want to maintain the bitterness of the cocoa - I really like it - and not make it too sweet at all.

well, this and I can add some chilli to it as well - I like chilli chocolate, but it is often too sweet - I want it more on it's natural bitter side.

the result of it is a 3-phase experience when you eat that ice cream - first this strong flavor of bitter cocoa, when it melts in the mouth you get a little sweetness from the sugar (about 2 parts cocoa 1 part sugar) and when the pallets get warmer again this slight burn from the chilli - oh yeah.

well, I forgot to mention that I add a little mint as well, just to lighten up the pallets and make it feel even cooler at the first touch of my tongue.

That's ok, everyone knows what you mean by "right people" for pool parties.

It just boggles my mind how people have ignored the disappearing performance improvements of Update 8, to be thrilled by shiny new things and to dive into infighting between console and PC players. I hate to admit it, but the "Hey! a squirrel!" strategy seems to be working.
I must admit - that's the first time I've actually felt a bit despondent about a release of EDO.
They had mentioned 'Significant Performance Updates' for version 8 - this now seems to be being played down, and now it's a 'we are working on it, it's an iterative thing' - which obviously it is, but it did sound like they had sorted some bigger issues, it now sounds like they haven't.

Oh well - lets see what the release brings, you never know (7 brought me improved / good performance in stations - which was a pleasant surprise).

EDIT: Oh yes, and look at these new shiny things, aren't they great - hmmm

I'm sold.
Drooling too, or that may just be the need for breakfast..

The devil will be in the detail.

For example: with the emotes, will we get more 'flavored' ones? Like an Imperial greeting / Fed salute/ default? I know there is limited space in the wheel but being able to swap them out (and have that mocap for NPCs) would add some finesse.

Fleet carrier interiors- will we have 'outpost itis' where little consideration is given to the interior being on a giant ship? For example, will we have little details such as blast doors closing / force fields in the hangar lift area just next to the hangar itself? Will we get a bridge? Will it be more than just an on foot menu? Carriers are so impersonal FD will have to put some work into them otherwise its yet more half male chickened work.

That and the performance.

Emotes does nothing for me - Suppose I can now salute some vegetation on a remote planet - woohoo!

Don't get me wrong, the other new stuff all sounds great, I'm just hoping for performance stuff above all else, so I can do planet side stuff in VR.
I went to a Guardian site yesterday, and nearly had an unfortunate incident with Cardinal Chunder - my frame rate had dropped down to 30 - there was just me, and the Guardian site, no sentinels, but that was enough to kill it.

I know the optimisation people will be a different team to the Pretty new stuff team, so no probs with new stuff coming along, it's just that 8 had my hopes up.

I'll just have to wait and see what 8 delivers.
