Ok so here are my thoughts on the North America Animal Pack. Overall I found it extremely disappointing and not worth the money.
1) the texture on the alligator, especially on the snout, looks unfinished.
2)the alligators can't be housed in larger groups than 2 individuals; we were all asking for this, but Frontier didn't listen to us. AGAIN.
3) I don't like the Sea Lion model, it simply looks off to me.
4) the Sea Lion swims exactly like the Grey Seal, the movements are exactly the same.
5) the Beaver pool enrichment item is just laughable. I mean, what is THAT?!
6) the Beaver recycles a lot of. Animations from the Otter, especially in the swimming part.
7) the Underwater PLANT Feeder still has fish coming out of it.
8) the 2-meter deep swimming is a broken mess, and it doesn't work at all with most of the animals that SHOULD be able to.
9)the Dry Stone wall pieces that we saw in the trailer are nowhere to be found.
10) the signs are just ugly.
Overall, I think this is one of the worst Packs we ever got in this game. After Aquatic Pack, the quality of the DLCs has dropped significantly, and this is no exception. The game's lifespan should have ended with Aquatic Pack a year ago, Planet Zoo was already getting old back then and now well... It's just painful to see what it has become. So PLEASE Frontier, let this game die, it's time to move on.
Do you not like the NA pack or do you not like PZ in general?
I'm asking because I doubt anyone who enjoys playing this game would say that the support should have ended almost a year ago. Most people are clamouring for content until at least 2023 lol.
It would seem as if you just don't like the game or the dev team. That's fair and legit, but its paradoxical that you complain about the new content and at the same time wish that the updates/DLCs would have stopped after the Aquatic pack. If you find the game development so disheartening, maybe it's just not a game you enjoy.
1) The texture unfinished? I could agree to some extent about the snout, but the overal texture is as good as it can be for a 2020 videogame.
2) True. But you can't say Frontier don't listen to us for this one minor thing. If anything, this update and DLC have incorporated some of the most requested fixes, placeable items and animals to this date.
3) I think the model (particularly the male one) isn't totally accurate, but maybe you should be more specific about what should be improved?
4) How are sea lions supposed to swim? They swim very similarly irl too. The biggest difference is when they move on land.
5) You don't have to use it if you don't like it. It's a more natural version of the pool we had with the Australian pack update. More natural-looking enrichment is something that has been extensively requested. Frontier listened. AGAIN.
6) And again, the beaver swimming animations are in the middle ground between otters and capybaras. The main differences with the otters is that beavers are a bit slower and that they don't generally perform "acrobatic" movements but other than that they don't swim very differently irl. From a dev perspective, making a complete overhaul of the diving system uniquely for beavers would be very time consuming and not efficient just to get a similar end-result.
7) Haven't used this one myself but if that's the case it should and will be adressed soon.
8) They took their time to adjust this (9 months for some of the animals?). They stated that there were some technical limitations and that for some animals they were on the limit on what could be possible without animals glitching. I believe most of us can live with not a 100% perfect system as long as animals dive with 2m depth.
9) Now this is really strange, not gonna lie. On Frontier's defense though, they never promised that nor put it in the update/DLC notes. Probable content for a future update?
10) I guess they're not your cup of tea but simply saying that "something is ugly" doesn't really help the argument. Just an opinion with no justification.
