🍁Update 1.7 and North America Animal Pack Out Now!🍁

So, I can't provide first hand experience with the new content as I underwent surgery yesterday, but while hospitalized, I can watch everything on Youtube in peace 😄 I am SO, SO eager to play now! Initially, I wasn't too hyped for North America and only cared for the Sea Lion and the Moose, as I felt I needed them most in my zoos. But I'm now so happy for every new species that came with the pack, I'm happy it is an animal pack again and the footage I've seen looks super convincing. Plus the free update brings some things I really appreciate A LOT (zoopedia update above all, animal talk seating, guest barriers). So I'll buy the pack without hesitation as soon as I get my hands on my computer again!
Hope you get well soon and can play the game soon too :)

It might be similar in a way that similar shaped animal moves in a water, but blame evolution for that. Same with the sea lion. It is understandable that the devs are using similar animations on animals where it can be aplicable. For example it looks a bit weird on Orangutan using gorilla animation but the sea lion using seal swimming animations does not look out of place at all.

And I love the new animal signs, love that their are all united in one style with a light hearted stylization.

Frontier please make more!

I can't judge the in-game animations yet, bit using true seals animation for a sea lion would be wrong. When sea lions swim, they propel themselves through the water using their front flippers. Seals, on the other hand, build speed with their rear flippers and by moving their lower body side-to-side in a sculling motion.

Using the seal animations for the sea lion doesn't look off in the eyes of the general audience, but it's still wrong. For me, this case would be even worse than the orang utan with the gorilla walk, because the sea lions hole body is designed around his swimming style

If you are asking about the dry stone pieces for the chimney, they are shown in both trailers, so it is weird that we don't have them in the game.
I'm really amazed that they did not come into play.
If I’m honest, I’ve been looking forward to that ... but I didn’t want to open a barrel and cry.

Try those:

Neutral Grey Color Codes
Hex Code#828382
RGB Values(130, 131, 130)

In some apps, you can also create a layer or fill with 50% gray.

ETA: And of course you could just level one of the ready-made PZ tif maps. Just save it under a new name in the user map folder.
Hi, thanks the color code did not work at least for me.

It was very lowered the whole surface.
I have to look that I take it over from other cards.

Ok so here are my thoughts on the North America Animal Pack. Overall I found it extremely disappointing and not worth the money.
1) the texture on the alligator, especially on the snout, looks unfinished.
2)the alligators can't be housed in larger groups than 2 individuals; we were all asking for this, but Frontier didn't listen to us. AGAIN.
3) I don't like the Sea Lion model, it simply looks off to me.
4) the Sea Lion swims exactly like the Grey Seal, the movements are exactly the same.
5) the Beaver pool enrichment item is just laughable. I mean, what is THAT?!
6) the Beaver recycles a lot of. Animations from the Otter, especially in the swimming part.
7) the Underwater PLANT Feeder still has fish coming out of it.
8) the 2-meter deep swimming is a broken mess, and it doesn't work at all with most of the animals that SHOULD be able to.
9)the Dry Stone wall pieces that we saw in the trailer are nowhere to be found.
10) the signs are just ugly.
Overall, I think this is one of the worst Packs we ever got in this game. After Aquatic Pack, the quality of the DLCs has dropped significantly, and this is no exception. The game's lifespan should have ended with Aquatic Pack a year ago, Planet Zoo was already getting old back then and now well... It's just painful to see what it has become. So PLEASE Frontier, let this game die, it's time to move on.
Sometimes even opinions are just wrong. This is one of those times.

Yeah, they don't use the same swimming animations (or if they are the same animations, they're used with different frequency so as to appear like a different style):
Grey Seal -

Sea Lion -
Source: https://youtu.be/kGJh7_8c4a8?t=1387

Sea lion primarily uses the front flippers for boosts of speed, seal primarily uses the rear flippers for steady forward motion.

Don't get me wrong, I will complain about the orangutan animations all day long, but that doesn't appear to be the case with the sea lion, to say nothing of how radically different their locomotion on land is.

Judging by those short video clips, both seals could have their own locomotion move. The grey seal moves it's tail and the sea lion it's front flippers. The problem is, that both often just levitate trough the water before making their locomotion animation.

The levitation leads to similar looking swimming. Sloth even says it's the same animation, but he didn't really compare it.

Maybe the swimming of sea lions and grey seals looks similar because of a technical limitation of the deep diving and not a lack of unique animations.

That kind of works for me, especially for the sea lions - most of the ones I've seen swimming about in zoos give themselves a boost with their flippers then just glide until they run out of momentum, which I feel is pretty decently replicated by the system we have in game.
I have never seen a seal underwater, so I don't know if they look/feel radically different irl but, for me, the frequency of front flipper use, and the overall greater speed of the sea lion underwater make them feel different enough to me.

Naturally, I got the DLC the second it was available! All the new animals are top quality, wow. The animations, the models, the sound. Like, the models for the game overall have always been good, but I feel like you guys are on a whole other level with the quality lately!

AND THE SWIMMING CATS LOOK SO GOOD.

Seals do a similar thing - most of the time the glide unless they have a purpose (eg catch fish, escape predator).

Those are sea lions though! (but I believe you anyway ;) )

On another note, one issue I have noticed since the update - all my vista point names have been reset, and don't seem to save when I rename them again. Every time I load, they're all have their default names.

Yeah, sea lions (and fur seals) are both eared seals, more closely related to each other than either is to 'true seals' like grey seals. I'm not sure I'd be able to tell you what species this is from the video alone, but the fact is has ears is the giveaway (as well as more vague things like the way it moves its head around) - looks like Brookfield has grey and harbor seals and Californian sea lions, so I guess these are the latter, unless they had a different species in 2015, but they're all in the same area, so I guess the cameraman just looked at the wrong sign or something.

Harbor Seal

Here you can see exactly what ElectricMonk described.

The seal only makes his locomotion move when he runs out of momentum and glides most of the time. That usually only happens when he reachs the end of his pool because the pool is very small

What I want to say with "levitation" is, planet zoo doesn't seem to calculate momentum. Seals make a sharp turn and continue gliding when I would expect a locomotion move to gain momentum. Thus it seems that the seal is levitating

I don't want to criticize the devs for this. It is just a theeting problem of a young technology, similar to the wonky climbing

Atleast The Aardvark gave us censored version this time. He is bassicly very agressive troll from yt section of PZ content creators. Sometimes I see his coments and mostly they are about attacking the game, devs and praising mods.
Sometimes i wonder what his problem is. For more than year he is doing same thing over and over. And then he came here on forum sharing his ideology. Every game has it flaws, but it doesnt mean anyone should act like that. Perhaps he should stop play/following content? Why would he play this game if he hate it so much. Intresting case.

This is one of his least toxic opinions. My favourites are when he use a lot of F-words like mad kid.

I didn't know his/her story but if you ask me it's a pretty sad life, attacking the cc and the game, if you don't like it no one here forces you to play it.
I'm glad that after all the feedback i've read yesterday (here on the forum, on youtube, on reddit, on the livestream), he/she is the only one who's basically complaining about everything in the pack, and hoping for Pz to die soon 🤦‍♂️.

Instead i was relieved to see Tim and the Cms so happy about our deserved positive comments about the pack and the update in the livestream, i think it's a good sign for the future of the game!

Why are you buying dlc of a game you think got boring a year ago 👀
