🍁Update 1.7 and North America Animal Pack Out Now!🍁

8) They took their time to adjust this (9 months for some of the animals?). They stated that there were some technical limitations and that for some animals they were on the limit on what could be possible without animals glitching. I believe most of us can live with not a 100% perfect system as long as animals dive with 2m depth.
Ok, so... From what I've seen and heard on YouTube, only Otters and Caimans will dive in 2-meter-deep water. It's a great change already, but on the post they said that other animals (beavers and penguins) would have been able to dive in 2-meter-deep water, but apparently they don't... Hope they fix this soon

I didn't know his/her story but if you ask me it's a pretty sad life, attacking the cc and the game, if you don't like it no one here forces you to play it.
I'm glad that after all the feedback i've read yesterday (here on the forum, on youtube, on reddit, on the livestream), he/she is the only one who's basically complaining about everything in the pack, and hoping for Pz to die soon 🤦‍♂️.

Instead i was relieved to see Tim and the Cms so happy about our deserved positive comments about the pack and the update in the livestream, i think it's a good sign for the future of the game!
I'm sorry for all the dumpster fire I made, I was just very disappointed in some aspects of the new DLC, and especially some of the bugs with the deep swimming and the new Animals. I haven't really had any chance to play with the new DLC yet and all of the dumb stuff I said was coming exclusively for some footage I saw on YouTube. Now that I ACTUALLY checked out the DLC, I gotta say: what I stated before is dumb. Ok, the changes to the deep swimming mechanics have some bugs, but I'm sure they'll be fixed soon. At a closer look, the Sea Lions and Beavers move way differently from the Seals and Otters, they look really good and I love the way the Sea Lions swim, they're so funny (just like real ones). The Beaver Pool was a bit of a disappointment, I expected something different, but it's fine. At least beavers have a chance to build dams, kind of, and I like the fact that other animals can use it (Australia pool was fine BUT this looks more natural, and better). I have to apologize to all the devs, I still think that quality kind of went down since last year, but this is far from terrible. THANK YOU, Planet Zoo team, for listening to us, and giving us all we wanted.

(and sorry everyone for the dumpster fire. I tend to be very negative about everything, it's how I am but I'm trying to change that. I'll delete the message, I didn't realize how aggressive it sounded when I posted it)

So, I can't provide first hand experience with the new content as I underwent surgery yesterday, but while hospitalized, I can watch everything on Youtube in peace 😄 I am SO, SO eager to play now! Initially, I wasn't too hyped for North America and only cared for the Sea Lion and the Moose, as I felt I needed them most in my zoos. But I'm now so happy for every new species that came with the pack, I'm happy it is an animal pack again and the footage I've seen looks super convincing. Plus the free update brings some things I really appreciate A LOT (zoopedia update above all, animal talk seating, guest barriers). So I'll buy the pack without hesitation as soon as I get my hands on my computer again!
Hope everything is alright and that you can enjoy the new pack soon. It's tough sometimes

Anyone else having glass opaque (I believe they are called) walls turning black after the update? They stay black after using the flexicolour function as well. I have been in and out of the game a couple of times, still black.

Guys, this is hands down my most favourite pack and I can not stress enough how happy and endorphine drunken I am with this. Thank you so much, you all have outdone yourself!

Now, if I could a small request for update 1.7.1. : Could you please add the actual needed depth for the deep dive requirement to the animals zoopedia? I have either learn it by heart or go back to the forums everytime and this thread might be burrowed soon ;) Would be incredibly helpful!

2 bugs I noticed
1. it doesnt show Traversable area anymore on the heatmap for staff, only in a very few Habitats does it still show but in most it doesnt while they do move around there.
2. When an injury is discovered for an animal and you click on the notification it opens the Animal screen of the zoo, instead i think it should open the animal ino screen of the animal that is injured.

Yup. Which is incredibly frustrating because I love using those pieces.

Also, I'm a little bummed that the barriers block both guests and staff. I was hoping for a version that could act like a "staff only" sign so I could stop using the ugly staff paths.
The staff pathing is such a weird concept; here in reality we block off staff only areas with doors. What we need is more doors and gates and stuff and the ability to designate them as either staff only or for everyone.

I don't think it's right people sharing receipts on this forum from other platforms and ganging up on you. You're entitled to have and express your opinion, frustrations and thoughts as much as anyone else here.

Anywho, Frontier...Please can you take another look at the American Alligator population limit being two - that is bonkers to me. I created a post on Reddit about it and it generated a lot of discussion. Most of it was: "Why did they pick this number? This doesn't make sense"

Have a good rest of your week, all.

I agree would be great if they would include a version for staff only but also keep the other one offcourse.

Another option would be if we could simply designate paths to be staf only.
I dont like the staff paths either they dont mix well with most of the regular paths

If you have an area that is containing staff buildings and not particularly interesting for guests, you could try and use kerbs instead. Kerbs will only be crossed when there is no other way for a Planet Peep to follow their intention - with the staff that would be cleaning etc.

so credits go to the DeLadysigner. But it seems the kerbs weren't strong enough in the early access. However, thought it would still be worth a try.

If I remember correctly, Delady also said that they had those curbs in Planet Coaster and they worked like intended - staff could pass, but guests couldn't. I'm not sure if it was intentional to have them like this in Planet Zoo, or they need some tweaking. Right now, I see no reason to use them. The ribbon barriers however are fantastic!

After playing with the update and the pack, I am so happy about the Zoopedia changes. It is incredibly helpful to be able to access the market from Zoopedia, see all the space req for the number of animals you want to have, and not to mention the filters - it's so great to have those! I think the Zoopedia changes and the new barriers are my favorite thing from the update.

The barriers in Planet Zoo act the same as in Planet Coaster, there is no difference, so It's unlikely Delady said that in Planet Coaster guests couldn't pass the barriers but staff would. That is not true.

Planet Coaster is worse, as it doesn't have staff only paths.

The barriers are just a copy paste feature from Planet Coaster, that somehow took them ages to get into in Planet Zoo, while nothing changed with the mechanic compared to Planet Coaster.

I'm using these to great effect in plazas! Like open food courts and such! They keep guests from crowding around the picnic tables and food/drink/merch lines and instead they walk around them all, while the guests who still need to use those things will still use them! :D

Clearly, I don't remember correctly, lol. I went back to the video, and have misunderstood what she said. Mistake on my part.
