Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Finished with Ody engineers for a while. The last was a G5 full improved Arty suit. Now to go exploring again. It's a bit toooo orange...!

I was saving refugees from the burning station at Paresa after making some effort to outfit my Anaconda with maximum cabins and after 2 or 3 runs, I was thinking to myself : Only 2m per load? And they are so whiney! And I gotta click so many buttons to unload and load em??!? Robigo nets me 10x more credits per unit time!

I am now at Robigo.

Am I too mercenary?

I wanted to ask, anyone Robigo regulars here? I am using a Python for the run now, is it worthwhile swapping to an Orca? Doesnt look like it. Just curious that a Python can out-cabin an Orca.

I've never done any Robigo stuff, it doesn't appeal to me much. But I don't consider it "too mercenary," especially considering what I do for Odyssey mats lately :p

I did a couple burning station rescues some time back. It was interesting and exciting and I appreciated the attention to detail, but once the novelty wore off after a couple runs, I moved on. Too much hassle and I don't need rank ;)

I'm getting close to being 'done' with my Odyssey upgrades. I have all the gear and mods I really wanted. There are a few mod slots still open that I might fill, but nothing that seems important.

Since yesterday was Thursday I spent some time on the Alt looking for gear. He's got a full set of Grade 3 gear already (except the shotgun which is only grade 2). So he's got a G3 Dominator, G3 Maverick, G3 Tormentor, G3 Executioner, and G2 Intimidator. Not bad considering he's only about 10 hours old. Not sure how much I'll actually do with him, but he's off to a good start :)

I'm a bit unsure about my next steps. I want to do more on-foot combat, I'm enjoying that more than I would have expected me to. But I also want to get out into the black again and do some exploring. Maybe after Update 8, if things look good.

I'm of the same mind. After I tried the tutorual - one time only and I died quickly at the first stint of combat - I thought I'd not bother with EDO at all except, maybe, exobiology.

Now, I love the on foot. I'm still crap at it but I can do more than I used to. I'n having a break though as I don't to "burn out" doing missions for mats all the time. I'll get back to it soon.

O Ren Ishii hasn't been out for a while so I'm going to get her to go all GoGo Yubari at a comp nav beacon.

夕張 ゴーゴー!!!

Help!

I somehow thought it would be fun to load up my ship with Sirius Atmospherics tourists and also take a foot mission to kill 15 cartel members.

So I landed at a settlement controlled by the Robigo Cartel, it was dark, abandoned. Never mind, a quick loot of the place. While I was stuffing my pack, I got a 'ship under attack' message. Run out and blasted away at the bandits, there were lots of them and while fighting my way back, my un shielded paper armored passenger ship of course exploded on the pad after I dunno, 2 shots from a G2 Intimidator?

I wiped out the bandits but how do I get my ship back? Since I didnt KO, where do I find the insurance option?

I hope that Python full of dead passengers doesnt result in a big lawsuit....

EDIT : OK, you go back to the Inter Astra and the counter has a rebuy option appear. OK, 2.7m, not too bad. Make that back in a fifth of a Robigo Run. But first, 15 cartel members to put the blame on first.

EDIT Part 2 : HAHAHA! Whaddaya know! After the rebuy, the cabins were empty 0/16 etc. But I noticed that the missions didnt auto fail. So I proceeded to the Sirius Beacon, scanned it, returned to Robigo and I was able to turn in all the missions! If I knew, I should have loaded another batch of passengers since the cabins were empty!

I didn't go with maximum cabins with my rescue Anaconda, I left enough space for a collector limpet controller and cargo hold to get all the worthwhile stuff floating inside the bay.

I agree the passengers are too selfish and whiney but the short trip length makes it easy enough to comfortably ignore them.

If you were really too mercenary you would be using something like a Dolphin that takes few enough passengers that you can fill it and still reach the rescue ship and collect the bribes from the cargo for abandoning their friends on the dock.

Never done Robigo but doesn't that require a your ship too land on medium pads which rules out the Orca?

@Tyres O'Flaherty

I went all nerdy :geek: on the thing I mentioned earlier about fuel consumption vs how long you jump. I used a DBX, not an ASPx as it says, but potato/potato. Then I fitted fuel tanks for a total of 76 tons. That's why the max jump range is "only" ~63 ly. Notice that if you jump 1/4 of your maximum range, then you only use 1/500 fuel. I wasn't joking the other day. A Conda can cross the galaxy (at least) 6 times without a scoop if you only jump 15 ly per jump (it will take a while) ;)

Shorter jumps (meaning only a percentage of your jump range) uses much less fuel than jumping the full max range.

Sorry about the size of the table. Dunno how to adjust the size.

I always thought the Orca was a medium. I mean, it has less/= slots than the Python/Krait.

Question: I want to try a few on-foot combat missions so what would be the easiest/recommended starting point? The lowest threat ones I can find, say threat 3?

EDIT

Tried twice so far on the lowest threat I could find - 3. Both instances were practically in pitch black. I died very quickly indeed - scoring 1 out of 9 kills both times. Jeez.
