Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

There are a few goons here who have been highly critical of FD/ED, especially over on SA.
Now come on. Knowing that would involve either looking outside of this bubble and/or paying $10 to explore the megathreads "over there" that are critical of specific space games that aren't Star Citizen (whether it's the NMS thread, the FD/ED megathread, or any of the others).

That said though, tallying up criticism for one and comparing it to the total dectractions of the other does not make any game better. Either a project can stand on its own merits or not.

Nah, paywall is down again, no $10 required at the moment.

Either a project can stand on its own merits or not.

You'd think that, but its funny how often SC cul... erm... fans can't talk up SC on its own merits but have to point to other bad games to try and make SC look good in comparison.

I ordered a pizza today. Despite my order, the whole thing was an undercooked slab of dough with what seemed like ketchup (or catsup, if that's your thing) smeared on it with up to (but not more than) 10 shreds of mozzarella cheese. Also, big slabs of green bell pepper all over it (which was not part of my order, but I guess it was an "added feature" I never asked for, but should be thankful I received).

And man, I'm just glad it arrived early (well, early for this place - it usually arrives 40 minutes late and is stone cold), because it gave me time to drive around to every other restaurant serving similar food - not just pizzas, but places that sell Mexican food as well, because that's a flat bread-type cuisine with meat and vegetables, just so I felt I wasn't being hypocritical or a "hater" for singling out the one restaurant I gave money to, that happened to royally screw up the thing they advertised, that I paid to be delivered.

Buy an Idris.
You are just a pizza fudster that doesn't know anything about Italian cooking. They were making never done before pizzas, not like the crap you're used to. They are aiming for visionary combinations like anchovies with pineapples with actual simulation of the growing, harvesting and application of these toppings at the table itself! You're just jealous that Dominos is less successful and less visionary...or something.

Got to appreciate the fidelity and quality of the faces in Star Citizen, never been done bef.... oh...

Regardless of any other fact (or logical conclusion from analysing a fact, such as reading roadmap state), this right here, means that SQ42 is very close to completion.
No sane CEO
would move his family and drastically change his entire personal life (and lifestyle) for a long period of time, while a product is still being made (as opposed to near completion).
Not to mention he's leaving his headquarters (LA studios) behind... this is not like moving the company from one place to another. So yeah, SQ42 might be closer than we think.
I'd dare say even, that the game might be long before their 10 year anniversary... but for marketing and sentiment sake, that may very well be their release date... and what a surprise it would be... Announcing SQ42 at citcon 2022!!!

As for the rest, it's not that I don't disagree, is that when I take the OP's question into consideration "What's next after Dynamic Server Meshing", I believe that the number of systems won't really matter.
Or put it in another way, the number of solar systems does not walk in parallel with the "Dynamic" part of the tech.
We can still, theoretically, have any given number of systems, while using the v1 of Server meshins, which will be the Static Server meshing.

So, as I see it, and in accordance to the OP's question, it doesn't really matter if we have just one system, or 20 or 50... We don't really need more than one to test (or at least initial tests) the tech.
Obviously, CIG will give us more than one system, but my point is, Server Meshing doesn't really need more than one system to be tested.

Oh my....

Someone who doesn't play but is critical day after day for several years is someone who ... doesn't play but is critical.

I mean this hater thing is bizarre.

I find flat earthers hilarious. I watch science channels, scimandan for example, who points out where they are wrong, and explains the actual scientific facts to his audience.

Does scimandan "hate" flat earthers? I wouldn't imagine so. Do I? No, I find it ridiculous and amusing. Why would I hate people I disagree with, just because I disagree with them?

People need to stop accusing others of "hate" for not holding the same opinion.
Nicely put.

SC has many flaws like ED and every other game has them but it also has many qualities or else it wouldn't keep going like they have and have people playing them.
But for some reason some here, who would be supposedly Elite players, don't seem to care as much that Frontier misses multiple release dates, ignores promised features, condescends it's players for wanting those promised features, sells parts of the company to china, models it's gameplay systems to focus on grind to prey on arx buyers and so on. But they care if SC reduces the number of trees of a planet.
Funny how you forgot to mention that ED has many qualities. Because putting them back into the sentence makes your statement pointless.

Some people play SC because they have a low bar for quality. Some people try to get back anything - literally anything - for the money they already spent. Some people play SC because they stream, and SC brings them viewers. And given the innate human desire for schadenfreude, that speaks nothing for the quality of SC.

And - lo and behold - you will not see any pointed criticism in this thread because it's off-topic and deleted by moderators (not judging their actions, just saying that they happen).
Regarding CIG (because surprise-surprise - all you said applies to CIG!) missing multiple release dates, ignoring promised features, condescending it's players for wanting those promised features, selling parts of the company to whatever (singling out China is racism by the way), modeling it's gameplay systems to focus on pay-to-win - yes, we care, because some of us paid for this vaporware, and some of us expected to buy a good game when it releases in 2015, but were deceived. People who aren't idiots don't like to be deceived.

Haha, what a fool. How would CIG sell ships if they did that?
What stage is he talking about? The tenth year after development started? I'm pretty sure there are lots of games that let players to access them at that stage.

In a blur of political correctness and multiculturism, how my character appears in game

Somewhat better, although they still have that shiny plastic look. I'm surprised CR hasn't mandated that be sorted already. Still, compared to modern AAA games, its pretty pants.

Also /r/suddenlygay

(Which i do recommend subbing to if you reddit, you enjoy a laugh, and are not homophobic. The memes are top notch).

Shiny plastic look? Do you know how much that scented body oil cost me in the concierge store?

An arm and a leg?

Its strange though. It just requires a change in the textures' properties to remove.... not sure why they keep it, it detracts from the realism of the models.

The character creator is due for a revamp in 3.16 according to the last ISC video...I'll watch the roadmap to the roadmap with bated breath 😬
