That's a very fair point, didn't thought of itI imagine there are many people out there sitting on equipment which may soon be worth far less next year than they can sell it for now.

Wow I was just about to ask exactly that myself. We should start a group.
I have a lifetime pass and don't mind upgrading from my old rig, but in-game I just do hardcore deep space exploration of unofficial POIs in an unarmed The Starting Ship, and I'm not interested in Odyssey even if Frontier gets it to work. Apart from being broken and obviously inferior to Horizons in every way apart from the legs thing, Odyssey stands to wipe out all of the monumental work of the Galactic Mapping Project in mapping the Horizons Galaxy. We just wanted to be able to walk around inside our ships.
So please Frontier, don't scrap Horizons. Better to make a hard decision now and scrap Odyssey and its so-called 'improvements' instead, than to allow it to destroy the entire game.
I got Odyssey with my lifetime license. Its listed in my Launcher but I have never played it. I don't have a version 4.0 bindings file in my bindings folder. Do I have to play Odyssey once to get that version 4.0 file?The current Horizons binding file is version 3.0, Odyssey one looks to be version 4.0. That change is fairly normal.
It's also normal for the base game to get some updates at the same time as optional updates are added. For example the Horizons release (in late 2015) was both version 2.0 (Horizons) and 1.5 (vanilla).
Yes, you do, V4 contains all of the 'new' bindings for on-foot play. On the bindings screen it also splits up general / ship / SRV / foot which is helpful to break up the menu list, but makes it 'interesting' finding some of the settings.I got Odyssey with my lifetime license. Just copy and rename your Custom.4.0.binds and Custom.3.0.binds files to Odyssey.4.0.binds and Horizons.3.0.binds leaving the originals in placethe bindings for EDH and EDO are in separate files (3.0 and 4.0)
but
when if i play in EDH, when i return to EDO i must reconfigure my controllers (the "on foot" part of the bindings)
That doesn't matter. Once you launch Horizons, regardless of which bindset you select, upon launching Odyssey, the on-foot bindset will revert to one of the default ones in my experience.Just copy and rename your Custom.4.0.binds and Custom.3.0.binds files to Odyssey.4.0.binds and Horizons.3.0.binds leaving the originals in place
Then open the Horizons file in a text editor and change the second line like this:
<Root PresetName="Horizons" MajorVersion="3" MinorVersion="0">
And for the Odyssey version
<Root PresetName="Odyssey" MajorVersion="4" MinorVersion="0">
You will now be able to select the correct bindings from the controls dropdown in either version of ED

The issue is that you need to manually select the custom one you want every time. The game simply forgets the on foot bindset once you run Horizons. It's just annoying after umpenth time![]()

I'm still waiting for Odyssey on the PS4 but I can wait.Thank you for the clarification Bruce and the team. I asked during the last thread but don't see the answer here. We were previously told that Horizons players on PC would be seeing the graphical updates, why was the decision made to change this?
Also something that I've seen wondered quite a bit, is will Horizons players get the UI changes?
Does this really mean you are resetting all bounties for Odyssey players when it releases?
Yeah but the horizons version being separate from odyssey is a temporary 'fix' while console is delayed (and pc odyssey is still not up to scratch)Two different game modes? Horizons and Odyssey?
You may as well call it two different games entirely so I wonder if it is still Elite.... at all.
I hope not.It's not a permanent plan to have them split, either pc/console or horizons/odyssey.
Everything goes according to the plan. Don't worry!Looks like most of what FD expected from odissey have gone wrong!
