Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

But CR is still talking complete and utter nollocks. You can say it was different back then, but it is no different now. Ok, CR appears to have been muzzled more or less since the new year, but i'm sure he will pop up again around Christmas to sell more dreams.txt. If he doesn't, and CitCon was a real indication, it will probably mean he has been gagged.
I really don't care that much, I never was the idiot Roberts greatest fan in the first place so I've absolutely no idea who you're trying to convince here. He's said a lot of things, 99% of what he has said with reference to Star Citizen is utter bollox...whether he said it back in 2014 or 5 minutes ago. We all already know this. Chris Roberts and his life history in meme is about as relevant to the Star Citizen I play as I am to the world of Topless Malasian shoplifting.

I come in here to discuss and debate the ins and outs of the game I play...you know...the one that you don't, not some industry has been drivelling his reputation away by the hour...although it seems most in here have discovered some strange fascination with the personality and his utterances rather than the game very few of you play

More new armour...nice stuff too.

The future or server meshing is here.

Yeah this is a common ritual if you're trying to get on your friends server and its full, usually takes a couple of minutes for someone to leave and open up a spot, but as @Mole HD said if the party leader logs back to menu when he logs back in again his entire party is automatically pulled in to his server.

Usually if you're playing in a party you get everyone logged in to the menu and partied up, once everyone is ready the party leader launches in and everyone is pulled in with him.

Well, my point is you are saying that was all in the past, but it isn't.

No...I said I didn't really care whether it was in the past, present or future...

You might enjoy reposting perpetual memes of the endless drivel that fell out of CR's gob over the last 10 years, you might even have a passing concern or take careful note of what he said, didn't say or imagined he said...I got way past caring what fell out of his mouth way back in 2015 :D

Anyway, nuff said on the matter...wearing the paint off my keyboard discussing Chris Roberts really isn't worth the effort, the man is a complete idiot with very few redeeming qualities as a businessman...at least we agree on that much :)

Fair enough. Maybe i did misunderstand your point of view.

Also, paint on a keyboard? Dude, that's so 1990s! Get a fidelitious backlit one!

I can't even begin to explain how weird it is flying through clouds in a spaceship

This is how the clouds at Microtech looked in 3.15.0 when I was last up there...

Well, unless a spaceship is built in space its always going to fly through clouds at least once ;)

One thing that is funny about both SC and ED is most of the ships shouldn't handle as well as they do in an atmosphere (or in ED's case, i assume when/if FD add proper atmospheres they will fly the same). Sure, add enough rockets to something and it will fly, but they glide around like Harrier Jump Jets or something. The aerodynamics on the ships are horrendous.

I remember many years ago someone did an aerodynamics test on ED's ships. It did give some surprising results. The Cobra for example, which you might think would actually be somewhat aerodynamic had one of the worst results because its shape would cause it to flip over. Can't remember which had the best, but i think it was one you wouldn't expect.

All the ships in SC handle very differently in atmo than they do in space...the Cutty black nose dives in gravity needing constant pulling back on the stick to fly level. All the ships are also effected by strong winds, you get buffeting and have to constantly correct to keep flying straight and level. It's not a proper atmospheric flight model of course...there aren't any control surfaces for one (yet)...and it's Ci¬G. What they have done though is give the feeling or illusion of a difference between space handling and atmo handling...I'll give them their due, it's not bad.

The flying through clouds though, especially the new volumetric ones at Microtech...since they were never there before...it really is weird in a spaceship. I fly flight sims with weather and clouds...but in a plane, it kinda feels normal 🤷‍♂️

That's pretty cool and what I hope FD will do if they add thicker atmospheres. They could in theory then also add some of the more planelike spaceships from Frontier, which lacked jump drives but were designed for flying in atmospheres.

That is fine. But it still seems a bit rigid, no? You still need everyone to log out into main menu, and they need to stay in with the party leader from the start. It does not solve the common every day dynamic issues where people come in a bit late or new joiners altogether or when people move back and forth between groups here or there for whatever reasons, or re logs after a crash or etc etc. If shards are equally limited this is still going to be the norm and common occurrence.

It just needs the party leader to go back to the menu, if there are other players still in game...they get the option to launch into a new server with the party leader from where they are when he presses the launch button, a pop up message appears on your HUD with options to accept or reject. It is pretty rigid to some extent but it's certainly a lot better than before the party launch system was implemented.

Most groups of friends or orgs already have discord servers so popping into discord chat with the guys and asking for the leader to go back to menu to party up and relaunch into a fresh server with more spaces isn't really that much of a chore...we all have to land at a station at some point. :)

Harrier has bad aerodynamics? I thought DCS was not too unrealistic. It's not as stable as the Warthog but I found it to be a real joy to fly in DCS. It's a real gas guzzler though and I can't connect the bloody refuel probe. Same with the Warthog, so I stopped bothering about that part.
