The Hunt For Theta Seven - You Could Win 750,000,000 Cr!

I managed to find the traffic beacons near Ballard’s Destiny in Hyades Sector VP-N b7-4 and near Hartog Settlement in Hyades Sector SU-C a14-1.
The one in Ballard’s Destiny is a little away from the station (3.52km), in the direction of the two domes.

The one in Hartog Settlement is right next to the station (1.12km), right behind the concourse building. You can argue that it's within the station's boundary since the Goliath drone is patrolling overhead.

These beacons are very small and although you can target them as your destination once it appears in your navigation panel, they can't be targeted for scanning while you are on your ship. You would have to get on your SRV to scan them.
Besides, the traffic beacons do not appear in your navigation panel while you are in orbit, nor before DSSing the planet. You have to DSS and approach the beacon as if you know that it's there even when there isn't any hint of being there.

Now that I have experienced the search for these beacons first hand, I have so much respect for CMDR Krautbert for finding them in the first place.

Nice job!!!
CongraZ CMDRs.

Fdev could add many things like this in the game.
That you REALLY discover through exploration.

Cheers, and o7!

Hey Frontier o7 I like puzzles, although I think it's better when you have to put together such a deciphering device to crack the code in "Elite Dangerous" (ingame). And as soon as you have the decryption device you have to actively crack the code through a mini-game.

What a contest. Those of you out in the black and living in Colonia never had a chance.

In my opinion, the contest was a bit biased in a couple of ways, but it's over now.

If you know how matrix works, you had a chance.
Personnaly i was close to find the answer, just didnt had the right numbers in the matrix (i inversed raws and columns).
Yep, likewise, I'd tried some matrix-like ideas but not the right ones - and I was in Colonia.

Obviously I couldn't scan the traffic reports myself, but other people did and posted the results up in plenty of time for me to solve it first ... had I only figured out what I was supposed to be doing.

But that's on me, not on where in game my CMDR currently is.

Not much point going there now, the message confirming Theta 7's location was sent over 3 months ago and the Far God megaships have toured all around (and outside) the bubble since then.

True, they need to be difficult but in fairness 2 or 3 of days isn't that long either. If they made easier ones then everybody would be in with a chance of solving it. There doesn't even have to be a reward, the reward of being able to solve one myself is reward enough. But it's not frontiers fault I'm the village idiot so kudos to them for the puzzle and the winner.
Definitely agree to that. I think it would be cool if perhaps there were in-game code breaking missions. Kinda like the blackbox boards or source missions but instead you have to pick up a Beacon/Link burst, perhaps do some physical sleuthing to POIs, and then put the pieces together. I could even see an Option Internal "Encryption Brain" that gives you access to either some sort of minigame (Ie the assassin's creed puzzles or spiderman lab puzzles) or just straight up in/out buttons that let you do things like apply cipher shifts, align to a matrix, etc. to the 'code file' you picked up. Then when you get it right (like this event, it was pretty obvious we got the right answer) you either get a follow-up mission, optional or otherwise, or are told via the typical Mission Critical Message system that it's time to turn in the data. (Likely back from whence you came you came or to a new station.)

I mean, it's basically the "hack <group>'s datalink" and courier missions with another step in my write up, but maybe it could even just be something on-station. I could totally see an Odyssey thing where you go to the mission board then have to walk/taxi to a building nearby and physically be part of a 'decryption effort.'

The only thing I would worry about is how quickly it might become routine. Since it needs to be permutable enough to randomly generate the missions but unique enough to not run into the 'same mission' a week later. Like if you did all the shrines in Zelda, then you found a new shrine but it was just like the previous shrines then the only difficulty would be the act of solving it, since you already know the answer.

To be honest, speaking as someone who has made the Colonia region my home since shortly after starting ED, I don't feel like I'm missing anything. Y'all can continue to deal with the Thargoid threat and political shenanigans and we'll just go on about our business out here. We don't have either Thargoids or superpowers to bother with.

Well, see, that's what the Colonia bridge is for, so you can have Thargoids too.
