Switched on twitch. Boredgamer is on.

And then someone in chat later explains - apparently proudly - they had managed to buy (whatever, a chariot of some sort) for only $500! Boredgamer congratulates them for getting it at that price.

What in the world ....

It´s all about price anchoring. Something CIG has excelled at and got away with for almost a decade. Many longer term backers just do not realize it anymore, and have fully normalized it. There are also those fully aware and invested in milking it through the grey market of course.

Which of these two groups BoredGamer belongs to? Your guess as good as mine.

I've given in and finally sent my pledge to Crobbers Inc:

It's the starter pack... and you were expecting what else exactly...?

Oh, and what Boredgamer is really looking forward to in the game is industrial gameplay, large scale mining, base building. Edit - and exploration, whatever that means to him.

Uhuh.
Only another 109 systems to build and he'll get his exploration wish. Yup. Any day now....

As an aside, were magnifying-glasses or microscopes amongst any of the stretch goals? Perhaps it's we (dirty filthy) FUD'sters who misunderstand the level or scope of exploration...

Only on Spectrum and the SC subreddit would it be surprising news that the server meshing CR described is impossible...most of us on here worked that out when Turbulent was dumped with trying to forge an acceptable, workable solution to server meshing out of current tech.

I get the feeling that 95% of those either following or supporting the project still don't get that CR's Ci¬G are now 100% focused on Sqn 42 whilst the lumpy handover to Turbulent continues as they get up to speed on building their own independent development studio and producing playable content for the PU...Ci¬G's senior dev team have pointed out this fixed focus on Sqn 42 in every video they've appeared in since the Turbulent meet and greet thing, so it's hardly a secret.

I've always said that if Star Citizen was ever going to be a possibility, it would be despite the idiot Roberts and not because of him...seems I was right 🤷‍♂️
Oh I'd missed this beautiful weaselly gem of a turdberg! Praise be to the Great (Stinking) Cheese - I'd been wondering for a while when CIG would bate and 'switch focus' again. I also wonder how long it will be before the latest scapegoat Turbulent are 'let go' and blamed for not being able to deliver the 'vision'.

No wonder poor CIG are a little behind. Not-quite-so-poor Chris not only had to build his own development company from scratch, he 'you' also had to build fund someone-else's too. Absolutely priceless! What a piece of 'utter-work' he is. Still, Chris can absolve himself again this year and, awww bless, let's hope it forms part of the live stream he'll doubtlessly do whilst showing him playing a sneak peak of SQ42.... perhaps he'll go on to explain how the pledge money is being distributed...

As you say Mole, perversely this may yet save SC, although if he has any level of involvment I doubt it, and gawd help SQ42 with Chris now fully focussed on it. I wonder if he's re-worked the script yet.

Buy an Idris - the moment's valueless priceless!

(Nope - can't stop laughing about this...)

Yeah, it's the normalisation that gets me. And then there's the streamers who * know * ...

Boredgamer? I don't think so, I get the impression he's more interested in a first person EVE Online, more interested in the economy and orgs than combat.
I could swear that he made the statement in one ☝️ of his streams long ago, about being a pvp player and liking pew pew but hey I don’t watch him that often so I could be wrong

Ooof, that thread is a mess. I guess zero moderation.

One funny bit. There is a defender of the faith in there. Another guy talks about waiting for SC for 10 years. DotF says "actually, its only 9" DotF then goes on to say ED released in 2016.

Funny.

I like using that line when making decisions. It's very liberating.

Should you shave bad words into the neighbor's dog's fur? You could do worse - you could have an expensive drug habit.

Should you play the odds and eat the 3-day old sushi from the gas station? You could do worse - you could have an expensive drug habit.

Should you spend money on [insert anything other than drugs]? ALWAYS!

I kicked all of my old vices by sinking my money into a new vice.

(Disclaimer: I really don't care how people do or do not spend their money, I just find the "at least it's not drugs" to be an incredibly silly stance to justify jpegs.)

EDIT: And I say this as someone who lives in a city where "making bad decisions" is our largest domestic product.
