Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Either way it will have to happen eventually, i didn't believe it when they demoed it in 2019 but i'm more confident of it now that CR has been pushed off to the UK to oversee SQ42, he's seemingly out of the way.

Ok, who has the CR as an old man JPG?

It doesn't have to happen eventually.... but you'd hope they could manage a second system eventually...

And yeah, with Chris off playing movie director, it does increase the chance of stuff getting done.

Actually - refueling is very heavily needed for Pyro to even begin to think about crossing the system. It's huge compared to Stanton. So no, the Starfarer wont be irrelevant any time soon.
Pyro ? Where is it ? Did you go there ? Did you test it ? How did refuelling go for you ? Actually how does refuelling goes at all ? Look, even most of the things they promised 5 years ago are not there yet in the base game with just 1 system. Cultists have told me every year since then, that Pyro would be around at the end of next year... Guess what you guys are saying right now ? Yeah, thought so.

Also, 5 Systems by 2030?
Yes. Accounting for Nyx that should have one planet done, and given CiG current velocity to make just one system placing every single blade of grass by hand, that's the semi-optimistic view of the next decade of "early alpha !!".

Well I mean that would require them to fire most of those 100 people just working on the Systems at their new studio,
Oh yeah, these guys, wow, so fast, 6 years to make one system. Hope they get a bit faster for the next one.

just have a single guy making System names up and writing dates.
Building a strawman doesnt help your argument.

As Nyx is most likely finishing up Planet wise, there's gonna be 3 Systems done by the end of next year if we're lucky.
Nyx has just the one as it was ejected from Stanton. We'll be lucky to have Pyro at all, which seems to be delayed indefinitely due to "server meshing" or whatever excuse of the day.

According to the tracker, CIG pulled in over 800k in just 1 hour several hours ago.

I really can't believe it. Even if everyone is buying the more expensive $700 variant that would be over 1000 people buying it.... i can't believe there are that many dumb people throwing money at this.

Oh, wait... humans.

Sorry, carry on.

Any comment on that? Any reason to think this year will be any different from the multiple years prior to it?
Why would this year be different? Hm... lets think about it!

Previously, we got a very small peek into Pyro at 2019. Very unfinished! Just a star and a gas cloud!

Now, they've shown us multiple planets, cloud tech for those planets, Stations, Station Interiors, Settlements they talked about in Pyro, outlaw outfits etc. etc.. and they've got a whole Studio working on Systems alone! They have more done in the system than ever!

Plus, we've seen Nyx Planets, which indicates they're confident they can work on 2 Systems simultaneously and still manage to put Pyro out in 2022! We've seen more than ever before.

I think you underestimate the ease with which you can make folk part with their money.

Been playing a bit more today and to be honest, I'm starting to warm to it in a manner I haven't done in the previous years free-fly events. I'm seriously at the point where I'd almost buy the base pack (nothing more than that mind as these 'prices' are a bit insane).

Pyro? Q4 next year if we're lucky. Refuelling has to be in first. Tier zero refuelling might not cut it either, it might need a second dose and Starfarts with working refuelling mechanics before Pyro will be a realistic possibility.

Very Much like In-Flight Military Aircraft refueling goes in the real world, Starfarer has a refueling Arm that extends.
Does it work at all ? Last time I checked (this morning) ship to ship docking was definitely not there. Refuelling at landing pads is iffy as it is, with the enduring bugs around landing and ATC (which are now getting worse with ATC going insane), and has been for a few years.
If it's not in game (which I suspect) then what are you talking about ?

Yep, using Refundian lingo, no use discussing with ya.
I'm a backer. Doesnt make me blind to the constant lies of CiG management, or their inability to deliver anything else than art assets which prettiness is fading fast in comparison with the competition (just played Death Stranding, and Unreal Engine is definitely on another level..).

Proposal! I'll eat a sock if Pyro isn't scheduled to be coming out in a Q4/Q1 Patch at the end of next year.

Noted! But will you eat one if Pyro isn't delivered by Q1 2023? ;)

Not that I think that CIG will really miss their deadline for a second system by 5 years. But it's possible. They do have form...

The Tier 0 server stuff isn't completely straightforward. They have to lever the server limits up for a start, due to the shard limits being tied to them initially. Otherwise adding new systems will just split the player base up absurdly. (A 25 player cap for Pyro & Staunton respectively? A 17 player cap per system if they add Nyx too? Not sure that would be hugely popular...)

Essentially, there are still various novel ways in which CIG could mess 2022 up ;)

If you melt one ship for another ship, I assume the new ship counts on the funding tracker, but my guess is the melt does not minus off. Can anyone confirm that? I remember someone saying refunds don't minus off. If MoleHD's suggestion that many are melting and buying from store credit then there could be a significant discrepancy between the funding tracker and the real money coming into CIG. The headline numbers look really good for PR purposes, but the underlying picture could be more sobering.

It's impossible to know really, as the funding tracker is a black box.

It has dipped into the negative at points though:

It's a mystery wrapped in an enigma ultimately.

Who knows what these massive dips were about in 2020 for example ¯\(ツ)/¯

Some people like Pay2Win/Pay2Skip mechanics 🤷‍♂️
