Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

They cashed out ages ago. Lost their mind when SC introduced eating and drinking.

It only takes CIG doing something that a backer really doesn't like to turn them from faithful backer into skeptic. Something they can't excuse or handle.

Same applies for any game in development really. Its just normally the money invested is usually around $60 or less for the pre-order, instead of hundreds or thousands of dollars.

Not a unique phenomenon to Star Citizen either of course. Why he choses to mention Star Citizen as the particular arbitor of his sloth and additictive tendencies I find touching...as I'm sure the refund sub did too... but having spent 5,500 hours in ED with probably a similar amount of time in SC... and still managing a healthy and varied lifestyle, I'd suggest the problem is purely of his own making rather than conveniently apportioning blame to a particular video game ;)

I think SC and CIG's marketing practices do cater to those with certain traits though.

Gotta catch 'em all.

"What? You want the ship to literally do everything? This is the moment where I think they are out of money. They have to be. They got to be out of money. This is the first ship that can do literally everything"

(ED says hello where every ship is multirole)

"This is the moment when i feel the game might actually be a scam"

Mike living up to his name.

But from what i understand its an exploration ship with a tractor beam, a mining laser, a medical bay, and can fit weapons... i can see his point when ships are normally tied to specific roles. This is a bit of a deviation for CIG. Will there be now more multirole ships coming out? Ones that punch above their weight?

What i like a lot about some of these early comments is those who said things about how massive the game will be, what scope, how great it will be, how it will redefine gaming.

And then we get people these days trying to retcon history by saying the original pitch was not for that great a game and how good it is CIG expanded the scope.

Oh, i remember him. I had the occasional run-in with him on /r/sc years ago. I don't recall him throwing out personal insults like some of them, but his faith shone through strongly.

And surprise surprise (not) he's being downvoted hard. Amazing how quickly they turn on their own once they become a suppressive person.

Guy even says he has no ill will towards the game and hope it does succeed and yet they still downvote.

At least the comments are decent.

And the trigger? Survival mechanics.
Still hate the eating and drinking crap myself...not enough to chuck all my stuffz on the grey market though :D

On another note...after some more melting and repurposing tomorrow (24 hour cooldown on todays store credit bonanza) I'll probably push the button on 'the ship that does everything'...Hull D to store credit, MSR to Odyssey CCU. I'd lose the Caterpillar and C2 loaners for the Hull D but gain a Carrack and Reliant loaners instead...not a bad trade-off

To add to the last melting madness...if I melt the standalone Hull D and the spare Raft I didn't really want in the first place for store credit...CCU my redeemer to an Odyssey...then CCU my MSR to another Hull D I'd still have enough store credit to get another standalone Redeemer or another MSR and something else...jeez, this melting/CCU for zero dollar business is taxing on the old braincells

Have you ever thought of running a second hand car dealership Mole? ;)

I enjoy the CCU/melting horsetrading as much as I do playing SC...more so sometimes. I look at the ships and current prices and work out how much they'll appreciate in Ci¬G terms of value (since they're basically worthless anyway). The 400i to Endeavour CCU turned a $250 ship into something that will likely be nearer $1k if it ever gets near flyable...the Odyssey will increase perhaps another $150-$200, the Hull D likewise...giving more CCU/melt value for future end of year 'sales' where I still don't spend any real cash :)

I also look at the loaners first before the ships...stuff that I can use in the meantime until the jpegs become not jpegs that still don't work...whenever that may be...

I guess it counts as emergent gameplay :)

So, there is a rumour that CIG have lowered the server cap to 30.

Anyone can support or refute this statement?
Still 50 an hour ago when I was on...haven't checked the PTU servers though, they might be trying something although there's nothing about it in test chat...they'd usually announce something like reducing server caps in advance in there 🤷‍♂️

Technically, yeah you could.

I don't think metacritic would allow it as it doesn't conform to their definition of released AFAIK.

But can you imagine the comments section of anyone who dared to review SC as a released product? Full of backers claiming its not released, its an alpha.

This is the dichotomy of SC. Its released when its being talked about positively and not released when its being criticized. Some backers really do hold both statements to be equally true in their heads at the same time.

I think its not hard to imagine what a review of SC would look like at this time. I think it could be summed up pretty much as "10 years and half a billion for this?"
