State of the Game

I can't imagine them being the original rift ones, so must be either Vive 'wands' or the Index controllers, so go on, I'm all ears...

I've asked. "May" not get a reply for a couple of days. He's a school teacher and extremely busy...

Valve Index, surprisingly.

I was considering the HP Reverb G2 but still don't like the comments on tracking, nor having to have Windows AR running alongside steam, pretty much how I don't really like the Oculus layer being added. Allegedly most of the games I like wil run with revive if I can't get steam versions, so am quite happy with the decision. Rumour has it there may be a newer Index due sooner or later, but if I keep waiting for the 'latest & greatest' all of the time, I'll never buy anything!
Can you do a review in the VR section, once you get one. I've got a Rift S - and enjoy VR immensely, but am always interested in an upgrade.
I'm lucky in that the IPD on the RiftS is okay for me, and I can play for 6+ hours with no problems - apart from a big red ring round my face!

EDIT: Meant to say - your advice of try a Type 10 for viewing while in VR was a cracking suggestion. The views are stunning.
Plus since update 8, things look loads better, and performance is slowly getting there.

Will be happy to do so, I checked the VR section and didn't find anything useful about the Index either.

Should arrive in the next couple of weeks, I hope!

That's a shame really, VR, when done well (Horizons & the same content in EDO is surprisingly well done) it can add to gameplay very well, done poorly can appear litle different than flatscreen (I have a couple of games that are marginally VR, despite being exclusive to VR) but with 'headlook'.

My late wife enjoyed VR while sitting, but couldn't play standing, yet one of our friends was immediately feeling 'sick' the moment she moved her head in VR.
to me it is the discrepancy between what I see and what my body feels (resp. doesn't feel at the same time), which is causing my stomach to rebel. I can keep my balance standing, I don't have the issue with getting off-balance, but my stomach is not liking it at all and just after a few minutes playing I feel so sick that it is no fun anymore

those who do not follow in the way of The Void are destined to stumble blindly through the forum.

hrmm, the upcoming starfield game is going to have a cockpit cat
I saw that. clearly blatant stealing from Elite's IP but they only have themselves to blame for not implementing them here beyond "cat memes"

I believe this has lots of potential as a gif.

Good morning dear bretheren and sisteren of the brebus! Pish and dirvel to all on this wednesday!

Game update: still running on xbox as of midnight! Had a couple strange massacre mission signal sources last night doing massacre missions (threat level 3). When i dropped in there would be a single expert lvl conda (in one out of about 6-7 SS's it was winged up with two adder escorts) that stayed yellow until I shot at him. when I did it would aggro as per usual and a half dozen or so other mission target ships (mixed lvl competent and expert) would drop in with a few going red immediately. I just pulled the reds away and plinked them off as I could until system security arrived and helped me clean up the rest. My other mission signal sources were typical ones with 7-8 ships hanging around counting stars which i were/ was(?) able to pull individually. I was running a mix of massacre (wing and normal) and assassinate missions. Per forum protocol I was going to declare this an obvious bug and failure of fdev but I though I'd share here first and confirm that that's how some wing massacre signal sources are as I've never run into that on a solo massacre mission. It was actually a nice change of pace from shooting passenger pigeons. All set up for some mining missions tonight assuming consoles are not abandoned by 8 pm tonight /fingers crossed.

But to stay on topic:

Oculus have an excellent space game called Lone Echo (it really is amazing) where movement is all in zero-G, it was with this game that I got my "VR Legs" as it was very disorienting and I could only play briefly before putting the game down for another day. Over a short time (a week or two) I was able to just play without any ill effect, no doubt this was helped by a very 'involved' story that moved attention to the tasks rather than the locomotion.

Part 2 was released recently (Oculus exclusive) but has been receiving complaints over poor optimisation - despite being over a year late!

That kind of thing seems to be going around lately...
I really, really, would like to buy the game, but am sitting on my hands until the reviews change for the better. It is allegedly even better than the first, if it wasn't for performance issues (yes, even on 3090 / 6900!) dragging the detail levels / FPS down... It sounds very much like a re-run of the EDO release, waiting seems best this time around!

I wish i could see into the future like he can......
From atop the fence that he straddles he can see much, or not, some might say, whilst others may disagree, maybe. What do you think, leave a comment, or don't , some will agree others won't find it anything, or maybe you have another view? I think and don't think that everything or maybe some things are good or not, or maybe not anything at all. You're opinion may be your own, or the same as mine, or something else entirely. Who can say. Maybe you can. Or not. Ouch, I have splinters...
