State of the Game

And speaking of star trek Discovery. Why would tilly volunteer to run to save her crew? She knows she's not a runner. The audience knows she's not a runner. She's among other people who would obviously be better runners. She's not going be able to outrun anything so it's not a noble sacrifice because that thing is just going to immediately go after her crew anyway. What was the thought process there? Hopefully she teaches her students that heroic actions are only heroic when they at least have the chance to succeed. cuz her death would have literally been laughable comical. i half expected someone to go "Really?" after she made the statement.

also spoiler or whatever.. i dont care. it's been out for almost a week.

And it ain't over yet! An amazing feat of aerospace engineering.

Parker set two records back in February 2020:

  • Fastest human-made object: 244,255 mph (393,044 km/h).
  • Closest spacecraft to the sun: 11.6 million miles (18.6 million kilometers).
But those records have now been surpassed. The latest:

  • Fastest human-made object: 330,000 mph (532,000 km/h).
  • Closest spacecraft to the sun: 6.5 million miles (10.4 million kilometers).

It’s just very ”woke” for the sake of being woke, at this point. I know the original was ahead of its time (alas) for the way they depicted racial and gender equality, and probably in 20 years they’ll do the same to this, but for me I just sit there watching it with my head tilted to one side in utter confusion, wearing much the same expression my doggo has when my wife lets rip a particularly rough one.

”Tonight on Discovery, Stamets examines his relationship with his ressurected husband, as Adira the non-binary symbiote who isn‘t really a symbiote bit they’re just living their best life, reconnects with their former trans boyfriend who’s dead but not resurrected, but was in fairness an actual symbiote (although look, let’s not use labels). Meanwhile, Burnham transcends space and time to be with her human/klingon/who knows ex boyfriend, while Saru rocks gently back and forth wishing he was in any other sci-fi series than this, because he’s in a ship powered by mushrooms, man…”

Look, I almost forgot about ST Discovery until you reminded me it still existed.

Expanse Bk 9 going well. I particularly like

Amos being immortal after taking a gunshot to the chest and popping back to life. His old self would love it.

I’ve given up. It’s a steaming pile. As I said before, Lower Decks is ST’s only watchable thing.

I’ll sit patiently waiting for Book of Boba Fett.
Good plan. If its anything like the latter half of Mando s2 with him stomping about like a boss and flying Slave 1 / Boba Fetts Ship* its going to be ace.

*new/ old money

Fixed a thread title for the mods ...

I was laughing my arx off imagining your reaction (and Leo's) whilst watching last week's Disco, as Mikey's exceptionalism is yet again the only thing that can resolve the fate of two space-faring civilisations. Don't even get me going on Tilly.

If you did go ahead and do that, would it be too much to ask for you to annotate the assembly instructions so we can all make one?!?

(Grabs coat and legs it quick)
It would take a l-o-o-ong time :D

Its really to beef up the structure because of the weight- since it sits on a quite small area (its four landing legs) there is a small (as in 1mm) flex on the front as the middle tries to bulge upwards- that, and making the cargo deck viewable- its fully detailed but you can't get to it because of the upper decks.

Id be curious to see the structural changes you make when you do beef it up... could you at least take before and after photos so we can see? (Plus I'm definitely interested in the cargo deck bit as well!)
